For anyone curious strike/crucible/public events rare gear caps at 262, faction package legendaries cap at 265.

Rare mods: 1 class ability lowers class skill by 2 seconds each, rare grenade mod lowers cooldown by 8 seconds each same for melee

You can infuse it with same-type items which are higher and if you are lucky get a little bonus on top

Sidearms got a modest buff and they don't have to compete against shotguns and the last word anymore so they're very decent.
If you haven't tried the suros full auto sidearms yet they're crisp.

Coukdn't do much with the suros ones but omolon sidearms are fucking A to me

Sidearms are infinitely better for high mobility play (jumping and shooting) and I'm finding success with using them as a Juggernaut Striker. Fire off a few shots to break their barrier then get the knockout buff and lunge in for the melee.
They're also not too bad in PvE now thanks to a buff.
