ITT: Modern production cars that are a bit different compared to most others

The body holds the two axle halves together?

Most uni body cars have two sub frames that bolt onto the main body. Common since the 80s.

I would love to have a twingo as my city beater, its so sweet

Pic related

IIRC it's the only FR car with a boxer engine (aside from cars made like 60 years ago maybe)

Pick one.

I have to say, I'm impressed by what the Germans have done. They took a flat engine, stuck it out past the rear wheels of a car, and somehow made it stupid fast. Like faster than everything else.

>the last cars to be like that were minivans
Why would they do that

minivans never had assymetrical B-pillars. Driver's door is longer than front passenger's.
fun fact: AMC pacer had doors of different length

911 =/= Cayman.

Cayman is a great car but does not compare to the 911. Don't be daft

Doesn't compare to the 911. Don't be daft

The Cayman has to be gimped with subpar engines and terribly gearing to keep it from comparing favorably with the 911. A Cayman-based GT2 would have challenged the 918.

so, can we say Cayman is to 911 like Fiero was to Corvette or Taurus SHO to Mustang?

Why would they make the Cayman so good? That's what their hypercars are for. Tbh their car tiers are weird but i doubt they're gonna change it

I'd say those are great comparisons.

>Tbh their car tiers are weird
really makes you think...
they make two seater sportcar and 2+2 grand tourer and try to make the second one faster only because muh heritage

It makes sense sort of. It's their flagship model that sells and happens to be a fantastic car. If they made the cayman extremely good, it would almost defeat the purpose of their halo cars (918, etc). The gt4 cayman proved to be an amazing car

>It's their flagship model that sells and happens to be a fantastic car.
Their flagship seller is the Cayenne, the 911 doesn't turn a huge profit.

I'd venture to say that without the 911 name, the brand would cease to exist

Hell no. The brand name ''Porsche'' means more to modern buyers than the 911 does.

But it's because of the 911 and it's history

9/10 (or 9/11, if you prefer) normies wouldn't even be able to tell a Cayman from a 911, they'd just call it a Porsche. Most of their brand values comes from making premium exclusive stuff like the Macan, Cayenne and Panamera, which are universally seen as high-end and sporty simply because they have a Porsche badge. They are quite literally just Veblen VAG's, carried by a brand name that was built on the 911 - but no longer needs the 911 to exist.

no. Hey dumbass. He means the engine is in the back.

The Porsche name was built by the 911 and it's racing heritage. Sure, now the best sellers are its crossovers and SUVs but the 911 remains the benchmark sports car to this day. The 911 is the true enthusiast car.

>The 911 is the true enthusiast car.
You are again confusing the Cayman and the 911.

WHY THE HECK IS THE ENGINE IN THE BACK????

THIS DOESN'T LOOK SAFE AT ALL

911 has better everything besides engine placement. Even then, the 911 rides better, is faster, has better feel, is more capable.

With the hatch it comes full circle and turns back into a 4door.

>twingo with no sliding backseats
that's a nice car but a quite bad renault Twingo imo

FF because it's an rebadged Audi

>911 has better everything besides engine placement.
Because Porsche consciously makes the Cayman worse. Even the GT4 had bad gearing to keep it from competing with 911's.

Panamera doesn't have boxer engines though.

Fucking retard
