Scraps of carpet are a cheap way to keep tires from flat-spotting.

Vinyl wrap it so you don't have to worry about the paint or detailing

just some basic detailing products and the motivation to clean up your car as often as needed.

Don't be afraid to get super autistic when cleaning your car.

Remember to keep on top of your fluid levels.
Rotate your tires every 5k miles.
Sparkplugs should be changed between 75k-100k on your odo.
I also use seafoam treatment in the fuel line clean my undercarriage every other wash.

Chances are your paint is super old and brittle, the elastomers in new paints are far superior to those of old. This means your paint stays tough and stretchy.

Park the car in a garage at home and at work.
Wash the undercarriage and suspension often.
Check for battery leaks and brake/clutch fluid leaks often.
Don't wear pants with sharp buttons/rivets.
Wipe down the interior with a microfiber cloth weekly.
