Tfw driving to store to get beer

>tfw driving to store to get beer
>oil pressure drops to nothing
FUCK

I had a chebby that the oil pressure gauge would read 0 if it was a little low.
It wasn't catastrophic or anything. Just needed a top up.

>cruising around neighborhood
>notice that the oil pressure failure light is on
>check phone pictures from the other day
>light is on there too

>driving 30 year old truck
>low oil pressure every time it warms up
>decide to replace oil pump
>pull the rear-most main bearing cap while replacing oil pump
>bearing is shredded, down to bare copper across the entire thing
>put bearing back
>cry

and that's how i decided to do a main bearing roll-in on a 30 year old truck while the engine is still in the thing.

If it's a ford then don't worry. The sensor went bad. If not prolly the oil pump. Not expensive to pay to get done and not too hard to do yourself.

>drive hard on a hot af day
>look down
>oil at like 3psi
>look in rear view

tfw no oil pressure meter so nothing to worry about

dummy gauge

th-this is why I got the na6...
na8 fags got that dummy gauge. Idiots!

>be me
>drive the most reliable vehicle ever made
>never experience these feels

Feels great.

>have 1994 na8
>has real oil sensor
Feels good

>drinking beer

>have shitbox on dads lift
>need to go to auto shop
>dad tells me to take his 70s shitbox
>going up hill
>oil light on
>pull up on road side
>wait 10 minutes
>check oil level
>tiny spot of oil on the very tip of dipstick
>call dad
>tell him the cars running on no oil
>"yeah, I know."

I used to have a corolla too but it was pretty boring.

The feels

I work on chevy's consistently with about 2 quarts of oil in them. Never had the oil pressure gauge reading anything other than normal.

Fuck I had a 90's dodge 2500 gasser that we drained 3/4 of one quart out of and the oil pressure gauge read normal. How low are you running your engine?

>have defi guages
>pos Z leaks from rear main seal, both rocker cover gaskets, drivers side turbo oil feed, and the oil tree
>car smells like a lawnmower cus oil on exhaust
>don’t have time or money to fix it
>just check dipstick every time I drive it and watch oil pressure

As long as the oil pressure never gets low it’s allgood. The hardest part is convincing the WOF guy that the auto ignition temperature for motor oil is around the same as when steel starts to glow. I haven’t seen the turbos on a z (at 15psi) glow while doing skids let alone one on stock boost just driven in weekends

Yeah shut up I’ll fix it eventually

Well turns out the gauge wasn't working. Smacked the dash and it works again. Nice

>Lying out my ass shitposter

>oil pressure drops to zero
Wonder if oil pressure sender suddenly stopped working.. or suddenly started working.

>2018
>not brewing your own beer

Are you gay or something?

lel what a weak-ass brewing setup

>my truck calls for 5w-30 but i put in 15w-60 for the keks
>i dont understand why my oil pressure is shit

>his motor doesn't use 85w-90 gear oil
kek

Your sending unit is fucked, that's all.

It actually looked worse than even that. No pictures, sadly.

Did you make it to the beer store? If so, I don't see an issue

Meh. Unless you’ve got a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Chances are it’s a bad sensor.

Mfw my 3800 series ii runs higher oil pressure at idle than my friend’s turbo subdue does at wot.

This is true with a lot of cars now-a-days. My F150 was the same..the Oil Pressure gauge was essentially worthless.
