Nostalrius/Elysium was paid for by direct OVH links for years but some turbo spergs charged back a large payment which almost caused the host to drop them and refuse further service.
If they went back to this method, I don't think OVH will tolerate a second incident.

The devs are extremely unprofessional and have no idea how to handle people, they scream at people and ban them from Discord for asking basic questions about server lag/crashes, they fall for trolls and look like idiots, they openly beg for donations

If they fixed the insane server lag I think a lot more people would play.

It's why not many people play melee, the delay fucks with auto attacks and sometimes you don't end up attacking at all while enemies are just smacking the shit out of you.

Eh, I'm not really upset. I was only like level 30 or something anyway. It does kinda suck, because I loved the amount of utility that Mage had (summoning food and drink especially) but leveling with them is so fucking miserable because of how squishy they are. Is Elysium actually any good? I'm getting the client set up for a friend right now and considering playing it myself.

It's not bad, but be ready for lag, the server is insanely overpopulated so there will always be a small delay between attacks, you get used to it but the feeling of always lagging really fucking sucks

I know people are going to troll and give me shit for this, but if you're looking to just play the game for the leveling experience and not worried about doing a bunch of end game shit, play on the Darrowshire server that Elyisum offers, it only has a population of about 1.2k compared to the 6k+ server, but it has no lag and doesn't crash daily like the other servers due to having such a smaller population, it's comfy as fuck to level on.

I play on Darrowshire with some friends, it's not bad, keep in mind it's a PVE server

+Zero lag
+Towns aren't constantly camped by enemy players
+People seem to be a LOT more friendly
+Almost no Chinese/Russians
+Have yet to get a single gold seller spam

Then we have the negatives

-Much lower population
-69% Alliance and 31% Horde
-Only 2 guilds per side actually raid
-4 end game guilds in total
-BG queues for Alliance are insanely long

If you're looking to just level and relax with friends, it's a nice server.

Elysium lately has been a buggy laggy broken mess of a server due to overpopulation and devs being too cheap to get better servers

Pick one of the other less populated servers if you're looking for a smooth leveling experience.

why did it take them so long to do this? it's standard for Vanilla funservers along with lowered respec costs, nerfed farming methods, completely random PvP gear progression and arbitrary world boss rules that benefit guilds with pocket GMs.

If you haven't experienced yet you should, the difference between Elysium and Darrowshire is night and day, playing without any bit of lag feels like an entirely new game, it's awesome.
