OK /pg/, Atlus is rebalancing P5 for its eventual re-release, and for reasons beyond everyone's comprehension, they've asked YOU for your input.

What three skills would you add to each character to make them better? You can't change their existing skills, or give them skills unique to particular Personas (IE: no Hassou Tobi or Die For Me).

The badge thing is an interesting detail in general. It got localized as "legislator's badge," IIRC, but it's a specific kind that exists IRL (pic related; it's also visible on Shidou's bustup portrait, though it's drawn as fully gold instead of gold inset in a reddish violet mold). It's given to members of the Diet, and while its main purpose is acting as proof of identity so Diet members can be let into the Chambers, having one tends to get you special privileges as well (like free luxury-class seats in planes or trains). There's also other advantages that come with being a Diet member, like being immune from arrest while a session's going on, being able to use taxpayer money to hire their secretaries, and getting a ton of money (~1.3mil yen per month, with higher-ups getting even more) for their job.

Combined with the attitude of the older Diet members influencing the younger ones, it's not that hard to see why all of that could end up messing someone's morals up over time. Shidou being the paranoid and determined type as is probably doesn't help, either.

He also says himself during his confession post-change of heart that he aspired to take control of the ship that is their country, but that he went as far as using people's lives as stepping stone to achieve that. It's definitely possible that he really did want to salvage the country because nobody else would in his eyes, but a combination of outside influence (likely from his party) and growing selfishness (possibly at least in part from the perks that becoming a Diet member provided) caused him to go dangerously overboard in his attempts to reach the position of power necessary for that.

Still mostly speculation since the game doesn't provide that much to work with past a few hints, but it's fairly likely since the other antagonists also had explanations for why they turned out the way they did (and that's one of the main themes of the story, anyway).

That's completely false though. Goro suggested changing Sae's heart because he needed to make use of her Palace to lure the cops inside and capture the PT. Yes, there might be another advantage to that (preserving Sae) but saying Shido's plan didn't call for it is completely wrong when he was likely the one who came up with the plan in the first place

Honestly, I think we're going to find out much about how deep the rabbit hole goes in P5 AG especially considering Mementos only appeared a while back but Sojiro's job and his link to Wakaba shows they've known each other for a long time.

I doubt it was merely an excuse, as Goro is shown to have criticized Sae a number of times for her rash actions and we know he was trying to figure out exactly what the hell a change of heart was well before he had any reason to join the PTs or to assume Shido would use Sae's Palace as a trap.

Or Atlus is just building up to a fakeout (either of the "oh, look, they have the same super-rare blood type even though they're not related, isn't that funny?" kind or having him be related to someone else). Who knows with them.

Amending Goro's blood type from just AB (in the official design works) to AB- (in the Maniax book) is pretty suspect, though.

Possible, given the people he collaborated with basically used him as a figurehead until the public turns on him for real. I don't think there's enough information to say for sure at the moment, though.

Using it as a reason to join up with the Phantom Thieves and genuinely wanting to ensure Sae couldn't be targeted aren't mutually exclusive. The former is definitely true, but the latter also likely is, given Sae is one of the few people he's sort of fond of (in addition to what mentioned, they're also on good enough terms for him to address her by first name, her to recommend a cafe she likes to him, and for them to go out for sushi together, including Sae taking him out for convoyer belt sushi on his birthday).

Yep, the reason why it's suspect is precisely as such a change happened after most people would already have finished the game and might be curious about whether Futaba's dad is relevant.

I mean, what he wanted was ambiguous however it's clear he was happy to work with the PTs, he didn't like seeing Sae falling for lies knowing who really killed Okumura and he does to his credit give you a vague hint towards Shido. Ultimately he still got Joker caught, but given all the other things shown I don't think we can say he had only one goal in mind.

I think the whole casino deal overall also shows just how difficult a situation Goro had as even if the PTs had decided against going to Sae's Palace Sae would still have gotten them arrested and then Goro would be made to kill her. The same thing applies to Okumura, he was fucked even without being finished off and the principal being murdered might have been a warning sign to Goro that a lot more people than the PTs could be screwed if things kept proceeding this way since students were already being questioned later and the Conspiracy already pinpointed Shujin as their main base.

That's why I think it'd be fun to see Goro's POV on why he did some of the things he did.

That's debatable. He didn't need to suggest Sae specifically as a target for that (we do know that at least some of Shidou's allies had palaces as well), and the conspiracy WAS gearing up to try and get rid of her to frame the PT for her death at that point (there's a cutscene early on where the SIU chief mentions leaving her be for the time being, then after Okumura he starts putting more and more pressure on her to ensure she could be targeted).

Unless Atlus comes out and outright says whether his main priority was joining up with the PT or helping Sae, we can't really say for sure given the facts provided. The closest thing we have so far is the commentary in the Maniax book, which focuses on the "prevent Sae's reckless behavior by changing her heart, then announce the dissolution of the Phantom Thieves" part of the reasoning he provides (and notes that the PT join up with him due to his sense of justice, i.e. how he explains that it stems from his resentment toward most awful kind of adult) as well as wanting to catch the true culprit.

Yep, the dissolution of the PTs part itself is suspect as we know Shido wanted all their heads on a platter and not just Joker's. It's basically a game of 'What did he mean by that', eh.

P3 likely was isolated from the Nanjo Group and anyone associated with it by design. I got the feeling during that scene in Yakojima that the Kirijo-Nanjo split wasn't exactly cordial.

P5 is where it gets interesting, and I'm going to dive into some conspiracy theories from here. I won't bore you with Takashi Kido, as EVERYONE in /pg/ knows that one, but there's a more interesting one that's been rolling around in my head. As everyone who's played both games noticed, Yaldabaoth's "game" with Igor was VERY similar to Nyarlathotep and Philemon's game, with the one difference being that Yaldaboath cheated worse than Nyarlathotep ever did. Given that Nyarly has been gone ever since 2, and the primary villains of the franchise since then have been the personifications of specific negative aspects of humanity, instead of ALL of them like Nyarly was, I've been thinking that he was, in some way, shattered into all of these minor god-like beings, and that Yaldaboath, much like the Malovelent Entity, directly inherited a sizable portion of Nyarly's mind.

And everyone who played P3 knows what happens when a massive shadow is killed right? They begin joining together once again...
