I'm playing Dark Souls 1 after watching Game Grumps and I like that it's similar to Monster Hunter. I'm level 50 and I've been putting all of my soul money into HP and Stamina because I want to be a heavy sword fighter, but my swings are too slow and damage are still shit.
I'm going to pump strength. If I level up Intelligence will my character learn combos and faster swings?

One of the biggest wastes of potential of the whole game. They had a chance to make the final boss weapon for the final final boss of the Souls franchise crazy. I would have settled for 2 versions, one where it can change between being Greatsword/Spear/Curved Sword/Catalyst, and another where it's the Gwyn-phase UGS with the leap and 5-hit combo explosion.

It's not AS bad for fights like O+S and similar gank fights, but it's still pretty bad. Boss fights are supposed to be stupendously difficult and that what makes them rewarding.

I had a dream that could vaguely be interpreted as a new From game, I fleshed it out a bit (dreams don't translate very well into real life) and I think it turned out pretty cool, tell me what you think about it.

The setting is basically post-apocalypse. Ages ago, humans made machines that powered up technology beyond belief and used phlogiston from thin air as fuel. However, eventually they used up nearly all of the phlogiston, and heat disappeared from the world, creating a new ice age. Life was confined to a couple of regions where some phlogiston remained. Eventually, a meteorite crashed into the planet, releasing large amounts of phlogiston bound inside it on impact and making the planet habitable again, but the human population numbered in the hundreds by this time.

Technologically and stylistically, the new civilisation is roughly analogous to the Old West. As soon as it becomes possible, explorers venture into the world to recover the secrets of the ancient civilisation, think of them as cowboy stalkers. After many clashes and unnecessary death, they pretty much formed a guild where each prospector has an area which only he is allowed to explore. Your character goes with two other prospectors to explore an ancient missile silo, but one of them falls into a bottomless pit and the other shoots you in the back. You in a part of the world that you've never even heard of, and all symbols of your rank are gone, meaning every prospector can now kill you on sight and loot your corpse with impunity. The main story twist is that there was never any technology, no matter the appearance, the world was pretty much magical and the meteorite was a god who sacrificed himself to breathe new life into the world.

Yeah, I've had ~90% of that zone cleared, and it's been a while since I last played a souls game, so I wasn't on guard or expecting a boss fight whatsoever. I actually expected to fight a mini boss more than anything. When I saw the boss health bar appear, I thought I turned around to double check if a fog door has locked me in, just in case it hasn't or the rules changed. But nope...

There is. Summoning phantoms to go through Undead Settlement.

And give it 4-way scaling and a boost each time you switch (~20-30 seconds) making it not the best in the class but pretty strong at 20/20/30/30 or something. Without the buff be average (if you want to keep using it) so that you want to keep using it you can, but you better not. Maybe not allow to switch while the buff is active to keep from spamming the wa to get the one you want. Although I guess you could just switch it away to force the buff off, I don't know, someone else pitch in

Gameplay-wise, the game is the opposite of Bloodborne in that you're not really expected to do melee (I know people won't understand this, but this was not quite a Souls game). Instead, it's pretty much a shooter with stamina mechanics. All of the weapons deal very high damage, and dodging every projectile is the key. Think of it as a third person bullet hell game where your dodges consume a limited, slowly regenerating resource. It had traditional firearms from revolvers to sniper rifles, miniguns, crossbows and even esoteric shit like artillery cannons and hand catapults. There are actually many different dodges, there are rolls, there are dashes from Bloodborne, there are ninja flips and slides. You're expected to constantly be moving creatively and only delivering high impact shots when there's an opening.

Instead of sorceries and miracles, it's got bard solos and druid rituals. Bard songs are spells that you compose yourself in the attunement menu, they consist of two to three parts that determine the type of the spell (projectile, aoe, self), the effect (damage, de/buff, heal) and possibly a secondary effect. Rituals produce consumables that you can use to produce a spell-like effect, they're made from blank runestones that you need to buy like arrows.

There aren't many options for sexy/slutty in DaS3, and what options there are, are locked behind the DLCs.

That being said, there's always a balance. Make one slutty character, make one regularly armored/clothed character, return to step 1. Most of the slutwear doesn't work well with other pieces anyways so the options there are limited.

I did this for the entirity of DeS and DaS 1. Not because I needed to or anything, I just simply didn't realize how much more fun it'd be to solo everything on the first time, instead of having helpful phantoms show me every little nook and cranny.

I have basically the same idea: Pressing L2 without the self-buff would just make you do the Onyx Blade's buff animation, but with normal fire and it changes the model and moveset of the weapon (Greatsword > Spear > Curved Sword > Catalyst). Each time you switch, a fire damage buff is applied to the weapon (counts as a spell buff when in Catalyst form) and pressing L2 while self-buffed would perform a WA skill of that weapon type (Greatsword would have Stance, Spear would have Charge, Curved Sword would have Spin Slash or a parry, Catalyst would have poise casting for sorceries)

Then of course the Gwyn variant, which would be it's own weapon. It too has a Stance, but instead of stepping forward with it, you step backwards into the pose Soul of Cinder assumes before unleashing the 5-hit combo he has. L2R1 would be that combo (works like RKSS L2R1, keep pressing to keep the combo going) and L2R2 would be Gwyn's leap slash. Forward+R1 is replaced with Gwyn's kick.

Thinking about this and playing with what we got is like being allowed to smell chocolate, and then being fed stale bread.

Son, I got my 28 Ears, and 30 Shackles, at SL25+2 on two separate characters. Crux Woods is pretty decent territory, but Cathedral is where the fun is at.
