Luma3DS is stuck on 7.0.3 and has been for months on my end. I say stuck because it refuses to update to 8.1.1. Keeps saying DOWNLOAD FAILED and absolutely nothing else of value. Why can't it update?

I did, and nothing got overwritten. Thing is, it didn't SafeB9SInstaller. It launched Hourglass9 instead. Granted, the /luma/payloads/ directory wasn't empty but I thought I'd be able to choose.

So I removed start_Hourglass9.bin from the payload subfolder. Nothing. Holding the start button upon booting up didn't take me to the Luma3DS chainloader menu as it should.

There was. I should've mentioned that I moved start_Hourglass9.bin elsewhere but left SafeB9SInstaller.firm in the payloads subfolder. It's the only thing in that subfolder. I booted up, held start, but no chainloader. I put start_Hourglas9.bin back in the subfolder, held start, and then the chainloader pops up giving me the option to start Hourglass9 or continue booting to the 3DS proper.

It won't take SafeB9SInstaller.firm for some reason and the directions aren't helping. I'm stuck on Section II, is what I'm saying.

your luma can't read .firm files. You need to get the SafeB9Installer.bin.

if it's only responding when the .bin payload is in that folder then you're still on Luma 7.0.whatever
