Yes, and you should grind the Independence in operations. XP/min is roughly the same but it tends to be a lot less frustrating. At least that's what I did.

I prefer human battles as it is a good learning experience to improve my strafe and drops, etc. Plus, I still haven't recovered from losing a 222k damage op with all secondaries completed perfectly, because the team avoided going into the extraction area as if it was infested with the plague.

Saying I have no luck with team mates is an understatement. The second game of those 3 was lost when my 7 fighters were fighting 2 enemy fighters, and my CV """"ally"""" decided the best way to help was to strafe both our plane groups and kill most of my fighters. I was too tilted to even try properly after that point.

I can understand that. Independence is a painful grind no matter what you do. The ship would be so much more bearable if there was a setup that would allow you to split that one torpedo bomber squad into two squads of three planes, like on Saipan.

Honestly, I'm fine with it as is for that and feel like I can do plenty. My one complaint is that if I manually drop bombs with perfect aim on a battleship with a group of 7 bombers, then at least 2 should be guaranteed to hit. Several times that last game I had my bombs all perfectly going to either side of BBs I was dropping on.

Destroyer escorts are only really possible as AI enemies, or at best tier 2 or 3 premiums. Their lack of torpedoes and relatively low speed make them pretty useless in the general meta of the game

One of the best T7 carriers.

She has possibly the most devastating TB alpha strike of any CV, tier-for-tier. It's a powerful tool which more than makes up for her weakness in AS and DoT stacking, if played correctly. Her drop pattern is very useful, but you will probably have to recalibrate yourself a little if you're used to other CVs. Try it out in the Training Room or Co-op before heading out to Randoms.

Katori's at least got torpedoes, 140mm guns and catapult fighters. Most American DEs had babby 75mm guns and were focused on anti-submarine warfare. Brit sloops at least had guns over 100mm.

If there's a ship though that needs to be re-tiered its the Erie though. If WG actually modelled it's armour correctly it would definitely be tier 3 material, what tier 1 has an 89mm belt and 152mm guns? It also has a hydroplane and is faster than Katori.

Pretty much, yes.

Z52 has 4 or 5 km detection when firing from smoke, so instead of having to cover 3 km while under fire you now have to cover 1 km, then you see teh Z and can delete it with AP.

The patch pretty much kills all British cruisers and German DDs.
BBs obviously don't really give a fuck (in random battles at least), CAs remain long range HE spammers.

Classic WG move that is going to cause more static gameplay, more HE spam, and more BBs in the queue.

So, has anyone gotten any of the event achievements yet? I'd like to know what they are when I start playing.
