I'm not sure if Fates uses them more or if it just sticks out when it does because of the way paired endings are mashed together. I don't mind that sort of ending if it makes sense for the character, though.

It's always been a crapshoot. There's really no common theme between the submissions that are good and are bad. You get literally whos like Bord with good art, then laughably bad ones like Caellach. Most of the Fates siblings have good or passably mediocre art, but Chrom looks like a Muppet. No one is safe.
