Played BBorne, TLoU, Crash and Tekken.
Loved BB; TLoU and Crash were ok, Tekken is a story for itself.

The Last Guardian is in the mail, but after that I'm lost.
Also waiting to see if Nioh gets a complete/goty edition or something.

Anything else besides those two? I'm not interested in Horizon or Uncharted, also don't see what is the Yakuza games appeal?

Extremely well written crime dramas that aren't afraid to betray their own theme in side content to make you have some good laughs. Their gameplay is also really well done. If you're interested absolutely start with 0.

0 is before kiwami chronologically. It's a prequel to the series and, as a longtime player, the absolute best spot to jump into the game. If you go straight to kiwami you'll miss a lot of context that exists now.

Kiwami references 0 a lot. You'd also miss a lot of context when starting with 0. Just play the ps2 games and then the ps3 games.

Ok, just asking because say, I would never tell someone to start watching Star Wars with The Phantom Menace, or watch the Hobbit trilogy before LOTR. That would be cruel and unusual.

It's that for older players, yes. The game was literally designed so new players could jump right in and understand everything that's going on though. That's why if you google yakuza 0 entry point you see everybody talking about it when it was about to be released. The game is where you should start, there's really no question about it.

In my interpretation of the game the Church was viewed as an evil establishment. It's already difficult playing the game due to the violence and gore but attacking the Church is a step too far.

A lot of sidestories in Kiwami reference Zero. Pocket Racer Fighter is probably one of more obvious ones. There's references and forshadowing in Zero that will just fly over your head if it's your first game, in Kiwami there's a lot of throwbacks to Zero. A lot of "Remember this" moments.

Also The Hobbit is not a prequal. it's the first book.
