So a game called Oriental empires that mixes Civilization and Total War came out, apparently two of the guys who are working on it were the lead artist and lead designer of Medieval 2.

Anyone have experience with it? It's (((early access))) so I don't know whether to buy it or not.

I prefer these to normal sieges. Since I like playing beasts and chaos fighting a garrison + the army thats camping in the city + the army outside makes for great fights.

The gate battles are literally the same old siges but the capture point is the actual gate.

You literally get the same siege wall but the massive defensive structure behind you is completely unmanned.

They just don't care, now I believe Darren 100% when he said they don't give a shit and would deal with the PR fallout later, but the PR fallout never happened for sieges and now we have this...fuck this series and fuck this fanbase.

It doesn't work that way, the AI is hardcoded, whatever "tools" you're referring to are completely useless unless you mean to add decorations and other irrelevant shit to the gameplay.

The only thing we can't mod is getting naval battles to have spawned maps, but nothing stops making a naval map for custom battles, if you're doing a MP game

If you seriously want to make change you need to hire an army of Chinese to negative review the game on Steam.

What settings make the units themselves look good? I've got them on High but armour looks like shit especially on dwarfs

So what exactly do you want? Troops on top of the giant walls being useless? Massive siege engines that would require more resources to put in the game and look terrible?

There's a pretty significant texture quality jump from High to Ultra, but even then a lot of units look pretty grungy if you go close.

Dark Elves have been the most pleasant surprise of the WH2 previews.

CA adding gate battles is hardly bullshit just because it isn't what you or the community hoped for, they never claimed it was anything but what it is. They released the first game there's your standard for the other two.

GCCM Marienburg, Middenheim, Talabheim, Nuln, Karak Eight Peaks to name just a few where the AI is terrible and cannot handle defending such a complex map.

They claimed it was a new fortress battle style. Take what you want from that and the lore on the High Elf Fortress gates but it really is a let down that they didn't even try to make them unique or take a chance to improve siege.

If making them would help their profits they would have done it, they clearly judged that it wouldn't so they didn't.
