Technically they are, it's just Magicians who are strong enough (and dont rely that much on Pend summoning) to still be able to compete.

Just had a weird match. Can anyone rule The Monarchs Erupt vs any effect that flips monsters face-down?

e.g. My opponent has a field of just Caius and Erupt. I Book of Moon Caius and after a few turns of nothing at all happening he flips it up. What happens? As far as I can tell Erupt should pop itself, because the only monster my opponent controls wasn't tribute summoned, it was flip summoned.

Monsters that have been flipped facedown and back-up still "remember" that they were Tribute Summoned, but not how (so Master Peace can use it's pop effect, but it doesn't have its immunity).

That's fucking weird. What's the basis for that ruling? Sounds like a "because Konami said so", does the same apply for stuff like Synchro summons?

I assume it's because Tribute Set monsters are still treated as having been Tribute Summoned.

Nah not really. They don't need Links, but they are funny in them. Stuff like Gofu, Bishbalkin, Number 42, and Dracossack make for fun techs for fun plays with stuff like Firewall, Gaia as a beater, or mills with Akashic.

Linknoids may become VERY strong in the future when we get more Links.
