It needs a nerf because it's completely braindead and goes against everything a spy is supposed to do. I watched a nigga in the prem HL grand final spam that shit to just go for a backstab he failed several times over and still not die. Even at the highest skill level it's so fucking dumb to use. What kind of servers do you guys play on? Casual, comp or specific groups?

I feel so dirty every time I kill a heavy with a crit rocket at close range and I know I should have been dead.

Casual, I don't trust my shitty wifi to not fuck up in a competitive game and like fucking around with sticky jumper too much.

I get a mini orgasm every time I see a crit pipe collide with a revved up heavy.

I don't remember this, I don't really follow e-sports I just know stabby from his videos back when he was *the* stabby stabby and the few times I played with him he was actually not a retard on Spy, the current DR changed Spy so much I can see why he might have reacted as if it were a negative change since it was such a buff for clueless scrubs his brain was simply on another level.

When Tough Break hit people didn't really understand how the DR change really was all they saw was that their damage reduction got removed, it took a while for them to realize their crutch was now a fullblown wheelchair.

I sent shitload of autistic mails to TF Team, if they really read them like they should DR would get a nerf one way or another.
I proposed and expect:

I suggested fast accelerating speed rising from 107% up to 144% in the time span of 2.5-3 seconds.
While Spy has no-flicker cloak and extra damage mitigation decays over.
As Spy hits 144% ramp it will cease away instantly and their damage mitigation will return to normal of 20%.
That won't prevent them to matador careless players by decloaking in an instant unless some code-fuckery goes in there.
May be dev team further nerfs it by not allowing acceleration to apply outside of cloak.

I think 5.5-6 seconds is nice. If Spy can't take cover in 5½-6 seconds with a 3 seconds speed boost then he'd better draw a Revolver or decloak immediately and attempt a matador.

55% from 75% for the initial hit that triggers it. So it's actually takes down Spy and makes triggering it a rather risky endeavor. No, you can't stay alive after a fully charged headshot.

If all above or at least 2 of them apply, I think DR would be pretty much a balanced cloak. Just taking away its only predictable move makes it even more dangerous to deal with to be honest.
If this affix were to taken away from Deadringer without touching cloak duration or its speed boost, then DR will be the same exact crutch as it was.

I also suggested this "no cloak replenish" to be taken to Spycicle -which is another crutch- upon its meltdown duration until the knife replenished.

I think I added some Amby rants, and warned them that they actually doing the balance thing quite wrong on the weapon.
Reducing effective range would be a good thing but giving it faster recovery actually calling all hackers to abuse it.

This is why the DR is such bullshit in the first place, dummy. The damage reduction is fine, the speed boost is dumb, but the biggest fucking issue with it is how stupid effective DR is on Payload maps because there is an arbitrary large ammo pack every 5 feet for whatever reason.

I think initial damage reduction is bullcrap, cloak damage reduction is fine. Lower initial damage reduction keeps the Spy alive when breaking out, yet makes him weaker anyway.
Speed acceleration was needed in my opinion, decloaking takes like ~2 seconds already and Spy gets away way too far before you can figure out a trail.
Also lower initial damage reduction would give any victim a fighting chance if he were to pull the good old matador trick.

I´m a pyro main but I only live to serve. The third degree is still a terrible weapon even if it´s a straight upgrade over de stock. Bummed me out to see that strange in my crate

If you can't make use of that damage reduction and no flicker to juke your way out of the situation you deserve to die there. Speed boost was most definitely not needed, and makes simply surfing ammo packs to refill cloak so you can try for your epic trickstab again far too simple.

Are we talking about Big Earner or Deadringer? Because I'm trying to nerf it down without changing it to be unpredictable.
That's why I actually both suggested a total cloak duration cut AND acceleration without touching its replenish.
My suggestion is that; Spy starts with 107% base speed at the initial hit, gaining 12% or so movement speed per second for 3 seconds just to lose it all by the time its cloak turned to flickering type normal cloak.
If you trigger a feign-death of Spy it's not really hard to guess that he headed to the flanks behind your frontline to replenish.
A Scout (sometimes a Pyro) can easily track him down, if he fails to find him at the first try eventually he'll bump onto that same Spy either around their Sentry or at the frontline.

It was the first ever strangifier I ever got. And then I went to make the third degree like a year later. The I used the strangifier.

Big Earner rewards you for getting a stab, Dead Ringer rewards you for being a fuckup. Reducing the amount of cloak doesn't do shit when a spy can just surf to the nearest large ammo pack(count how many are in one area on your favorite payload map) again and again and again whenever he messes up.

I dunno, man. I thought reduced initial damage reduction, cloak duration cut and slower starting speed made this piece of crap at least bearable.
What I had in mind that Spy can replenish it over and over again, yet it risks it with every attempt, because a Scout can track him back to ammo boxes and wreck him.
The most annoying thing was how long the cloak is and how far he can cover in the given time span in my opinion.
I mean, if a Spy took like 40-45 damage from a good rocket shot from 512hu (90 damage base) or a good sticky landing. He already would pace his attempt of assault or trickstab.
I want you to imagine if you can reach all those ammo packs in that area at the time span of 5 seconds with lesser starting speed to begin with. I think not, you'd exhaust it way before.
If someone is chasing you or have any sort of tracking capability he'd finish you after landing a good initial triggering shot.

When I try to think about the nerf that written down on the balance blog, I think keeping its same stats will make DR Spy even harder to keep track of. Its stats need a further nerf before dev team tries to figure out if replenish is the problem or not.
