Is the French "resistance" during WW2 just a meme in order to whitewash the country of their passivity and collaboration?
Just compare it to the well-organized real resistance in countries like Greece, Yugoslavia or the USSR where people lived in fucking earthholes or forests and used their own bodies to clear minefields or destroy rails.
Handing out a bunch of posters where the obvious is stated (that the Nazis are bad) and telling Allies where to hide while letting them do all the dirty work is not fucking resistance.

One - There was an active resistance.
Two - There were Free French forces that kept up the fight.
Three - Most importantly, France had already lost the war and surrendered. They weren't able to continue the fight legally without just getting massacred.
Guerilla warfare sounds noble and everything until you realize you're putting your populace at the mercy of a pissed-off superior force. In our age of 24 hour news coverage with everything under scrutiny and weakness-equals-virtue morals, fighting an asymmetrical war on the underdog side is more viable. This wasn't the case in the 1940s.

The reason why the French Resistance wasn't really that big is because the Germans didn't mistreat French citizens during occupation. It's also why it was mostly Jews who took active parts in the resistance, they were the only ones with nothing to lose.
Meanwhile in Poland and Russia common citizens were target for extermination by the Nazi.

The Germans weren't as death-thirsty, determined and brave as the Russians. The Russians literally fought for pure survival and didn't mind if they died, because if they lost all of them would have been dead anyway, might as well let it count - while the Germans fought for a better standard of living and more power and really didn't want a hard fight. They'd rather fight against Western pussies and fuck French girls and drink champagne.
Germany was like the school bully whom everyone admired and feared and who went to the school outcast only to get his ass kicked, because the victim has far less to lose. Germany couldn't win because their motivation was intrinsically degenerate.

Resistance in France was far less than in the countries you named, but about on par with other Western European countries.
Resistance really had nothing to do with how "brave" different countries, but rather how they were treated by the Germans. Where they were treated like shit, there was more resistance. Where they were treated humanely, less.

Let's be fair. They pulled the US into the war and did a good bit of fighting in Africa and their bombing raids also helped. Also the fact that they told Germany to fuck themselves, instead of being pussies. This was a huge boost to morale to the occupied populations. Until Russia got involved all of the people could at least point to Britain and say: "Well, at least they don't surrender. Maybe there's hope."

Comparing poor shitholes in which people had nothing to lose and where the occupiers treated them as animals with rich countries were people had cozy lives and were treated well by occupiers is retarded France had a comparable (actually slightly bigger) resistance per capita as Belgium, Netherlands and Norway
Same reason why, while both were under US military occupation in 2010, Iraqis resisted a lot while Germans were passive about the American-British occupation and had a lot of women sleeping with US troops
