Armour.

Helmet:
>Defense is a low priority
>Exhaustion recovery is VERY good
>Debuff resistance is VERY good, reduces stun durations, damage taken from fire and bleed

Chest:
>Defense is low-mid priority
>Stamina cost reduction is VERY good
>Stamina regen is VERY good

Arms:
>Defense is low priority
>Revenge mode duration is mostly useless
>Revenge mode defense is okay (sort of?), but can be useless, as you will never have less defense than base while in revenge

Conclusion: you want to spec into either massive regeneration bonuses on your arms with negative defense stats on that piece and + to all stats on your other armour pieces to fill the gaps, or you want to spec into massive exhaustion and debuff resistance stats with negative defense on your helmet, with + to all stats on the other pieces to fill the gap. You want your TOTAL DEFENSE STAT to be as close to +0% as possible, since everyone has defense penetration as a primary or secondary stat on their weapon anyway. An example of a "standard" gear setup would be:

Helmet:
>--Defense
>++Exhaustion Recovery
>+Debuff Resistance

Chest:
>+Defense
>+Stamina cost reduction
>+Stamina regen

Arms:
>+Defense
>+Revenge mode duration
>+Revenge mode defense

Weapon.

Blade:
>Attack is VERY good, high priority
>Defense penetration is very good, you want this as your primary or secondary stat
>Block damage is literally useless

Hilt:
>Attack is high priority
>Execution health regen is literally worthless
>Revive speed is VERY good, high priority

Guard:
>Attack is very good, high priority
>Revenge gain is VERY good, high priority, you want this as your primary stat!
>Revenge mode attack is useless, you will never do less damage in revenge

Conclusion: it's a good option to simply have bonus attack as your primary stat on all your weapons, with defense penetration, revive speed, and revenge gain as secondary. Revenge gain can be your primary if you find yourself getting ganked a lot.

Payment for this lovely reminder/new info for the noobies coming in. Thanks user

I actually have a bigger write up, but it's too many characters long. It contains an example of a "standard" weapon build too. I'd but it in a pastebin, but nobody reads those. The Newbie guide in the OP is fucking awful, too. Says to buy Champion Status for 3 days every 3 days.

Seems like a lot of people don't read OP in generals I see sometimes.

Reminder this is the average reddit baby.

is rep 9 where gear maxes out?

The hero school playlist is also really bad and out of date. It's from February and March, mostly. Lots of moves that aren't even in the game anymore.

You start finding Legendary (teal) gear at Rep 7, it becomes "regular" at Rep 8, and becomes all you find at Rep 9. I'm not sure leveling up past this point has any effect, though it may result in your gear being slightly higher level when you find it.

the rep 18 guy in that other dude's video had level 27 gear in his loot pool, is teal gear usually around that range?

Yes. Means 9 is the cap off point then. Opened up my crate for shinobi(rep 10) all level 27 to 28 gear like usual.

Teal gear maxes out at 30 with upgrades, so I assume once you reach a certain rep (probably 9, actually) the gear you find is already "half" upgraded and hanging around level 27 when you find it.

Fully upgrading gear is interesting because it's barely worth it, besides showing off. The difference between level 27 gear and level 30 gear is 0.3% difference or something to a stat.

Yeah. Makes me chuckle seeing max gear score (before the removal of it last patch). Seeing as how both my brother and I have just basic non-upgraded teal gear and still do fine damage. Not upgrading it really saves your steel for other shit

Why do people think that shinobi is shit now? I missed his changes that happened after his release and hyper armor kicks confirming into heavies.

thanks guys, holy shit this is a lot of grinding though. i just got raider to rep 4 and i'm like, two weeks into this game at this point with shug at 19 and LB at rep 1.

Lucky for you, faggot, I have ANOTHER WRITEUP ABOUT XP GAIN.

It takes around 33,000 XP per Reputation level after Rep 1. You gain 700 XP on average per win of Dominion (assuming a 50/50 win/loss and Champion Status). This means it will take around 45-50 matches of Dominion to gain a level of reputation, so you will need to play something like 250-350 matches of Dominion to get to the rep where you can find the highest level gear available at the moment. Throwing in daily orders (about an additional 3,500 XP per day), which is equivalent to about a tenth of a rep. Doing SOLELY daily orders, all on the same hero, it will take around 10 days to gain a single reputation.

i'm halfway to a year of champion status so i'll have that going for me in like, another two weeks. maybe a little more.

i sure am looking forward to doing this grind like six more times holy shit no wonder this game is dying

I get these bonuses but I assume going with mild bonuses to everything and no penalties is not the wrong thing to do right ? Other than some specific things (revenge gain and attack for PK, revive speed for conq, etc) I'd rather not have negatives, especially for defense.

His kick still confirms a heavy. The stam drain on it is now believable, before that thing was close to warlord/Cent stam drain parry move ridiculous, and he can no longer have a 50/50 from his double dash(kick or GB after dashing, never was predicable making it a 50/50). I mean a real one since you can range GB after the double dash but it takes long enough for the enemy to recover from a dodge to tech.
But the real reason he's called shit is because the competive Reddit didn't have a win button (spamming kicks) and were upset they had to work to get a kill. He's still fine and albeit a little more annoying now since most shinobis(myself included) now understand the hyper armor on our backflip, which makes our kick very hard to punish by most of the cast.

Oh shit. Gladiator is utterly useless when people can react to the light attack. And they do that when you reach gold.
Rip.

Buying a year of champion status now is kind of pointless, it was only worth getting when it was 50% off. The +25% to total XP gain isn't super noticeable, and the extra gear and salvage it gives you doesn't really "do" anything.

If they made Champion Status give +50% XP, it would be indispensable, but at the same time people would bitch because of how it's too good and useful for how expensive it is.

Depends on your connection. If you are lucky then people literally can't react to your 400ms lights that confirm an additional 10 damage afterwards.

Download some porn or anime to make your connection ass or speed up your lights to 400ms. Gotta get those ornaments real quick and be done with autism v 1 mode

eh, it's just the best deal for the steel and i'm not exactly using steel for anything else right now.

the salvage is pretty pointless considering i'm going to have over 7k by the time i get it probably, unless the upgrade costs for salvage go completely off the chain on legendary gear

If gladiator is so good why don't I see more of them? He's cool, unlike peacekeeper.

>saves your steel for other shit
Is this really a problem for people?
I've been swimming in steel since S2.

If the connection is fine, Gladiator is not that hard to beat. The only reason he is even top tier right now is that having even a slightly bad connection makes your attacks come out faster. Also every other glad spams toestab after every attack which gets you a free gb on dodge

Because they are just scared to embrace a fair and true assassin(once timesnap is back he will be fine, and his zone being nerfed won't be the end of him either). And they are too hopped on horse cock to think straight :)

Does raider get a top heavy on top light parry?

Yup

Oh fuck

On assassins he does from every light parry. Everyone else it's top light = side heavy, side light = top heavy iirc.

>top light = side heavy, side light = top heavy
That's the opposite of what I thought, doesn't guard switch slow you down?

Salvage is such a bizarre mechanic. I am a total rep 50 and I am sitting on 200k of the stuff, and I never use it. They need to make it actually useful or just remove the concept entirely. Why the fuck does changing how gear look cost steel?

reddit.com/r/CompetitiveForHonor/comments/6joro5/all_guaranteed_light_parry_punishes_on_all/
Never had a problem. That list is what I used when I was learning raider's parry punishes and it's worked fine.

what the fuck makes highlander a "technical fighter"

the descriptions are retarded in general, especially on the old characters but this one baffles me as much as conq "heavy hitter"

It means mix ups and mind games and a lot of inputs.

>going in and out of a stance
>has a crushing counter
>you have to switch around just to get in damage since your defense stance from neutral is uber bad
I'd say it fits the trash can hero quite nicely

>parry nobushi
>nothing comes out because lmao2far
>can't deflect because she does that side hit bullshit
how the fuck do i beat her?

You can confirm a 500ms light if you parry a long ranged attack, I think. Generally speaking you shouldn't even really try to parry Nobushi's heavies unless you are playing a character with guaranteed follow up.

what character do you play

What character is the correct way to start off your question.

roach

You ever top light after a parry?

Double top light after parry, 32 damage.

my roach doesn't stick in front of her face and only do the 1 light sometimes even if i have the top guard

>Raider
>Top
I'm afraid you gonna have to explain that one.
You can't do a single thing, just turtle. There are better heroes for that.

He's top tier since he hangs out with the cool kids :)

Depends on whether the list is for duels or dominion. Raider's ganking power is almost unmatched in Dom.

BATTLE GAME MODE

4v4 on a open field with each hero commanding 10 units each.
Units:
Shield and sword infantry who have the ability to make a shield formation that protects them from arrows
2h sword infantry who are melee experts(bot level 2s instead of level 1s)
Archers fires a volley of arrows aimed by the player similair to the feat only its one volley not three
Cavalry who decimates infantry units save for the spearmen(5 instead of 10 units on these)
Spearmen as stated before these guys are good against cavalry (twice as much dammage on horses and they stagger them)

The shield and sword captains from the story can be used for the infantry men, and archer units are already in the game too you can just resize them to match the captains. Spearmen can use slowed down nobushi attacks.
the hard part is the cavalry, they have to make them from the ground up pretty much save for horse models and animations existing for horse movement and attacking. every player and unit uses a faction weapon when on the horse since you cant do shit with the ninja rope sickle on horsback for example. The vikings wield the raiders axe on horse like in the campain, the samurai the kensei sword, knights can have warden swords.

>implying Raider is only good in Dom
In duel he has: Amazing damage off parries, barely reactable unblockable mixup from neutral, stamina drain and the biggest OoS punishes in the game, and of course he is immune to any 50/50 and can get GB's off dodging pretty much any attack, something no one else can do

>orochi ornament at the first try
now i don't need to touch this shit mode

Everyone of single fucks are the luckiest bitches in the Ubiverse!!!
Fuck you man, I've been trying to get Cents and shinobis for a while. First ever fucking ornament was for my rep 1 Warlord and the next one for my level 12 Valk!!!!!!!

nigga i suffered enough in this shitty gamemode
i deserve something

Just got the shug one
I like Shug and have him at rep 5 but
It looks like a DEEEEL DOUGH

If you had the Vapor Wave paint it would be perfect. Giant fat man wearing pink with a dildo on his head. What's sad is I REALLY want all those paints for everyone, they're all really nice.

>throws raw heavies
>fucks up his wallsplat combo and exhausts himself.
>expects not to get completely reamed

Holy I thought reddit being a bunch of retards was just a meme. But holyshit, its like they don't even know how to play the game. Whats worse is that these are the people the devs listen to.

>Want to like gladiator
>Feels flaccid next to zerkers big damage, hyper armor and cleave attacks

>Fucks up punish
>Dodges on prediction, backwards, instead of sideways on reaction to the kick
>Exhausts HIMSELF for no reason

>Parry highlander spin
>Out of range for GB
Ree

Why do people love the stupid high-fantasy gear and gold weapons so much?

autism continiued

to win you have to win 2 rounds in a row. the map will have 3 parts one middle and 2 battlements for each side. If you win the first match you push towards the enemies fort and fight in a small siege. The defenders have to survive until the times up and each team have different reinforcements 200 for attacking and 100 for defending team every time you die you come back with 10 units who take from your teams reinforcements and its same in the first fight only teams have equal reinforcements here.
To take the castle you have to open the gate to send in the main force. This can be done in different ways like in the campain with the battering ram, or one could climb the walls with ladders and try and open it manually
Before each round you have a planning phase where you choose your units, you can see what the enemies and allies choose and can change unit type according to what enemies and allies have unlike in other modes were you only find out when its too late and you have to face 4 pks or glads

Because they want to show off their level, more than anything. It's why you see so many people wearing gold or black armour covered in spikes unironically. They just wanna stand out as much as possible.

Because they want to? Why do people like celebrities? Why do people want realistic looking weapons? Because they like them

>playing dom
>team getting wrecked, two guys perma-KOed
>retreat to point c with last teammate and wait for death
>enemy actually comes at us one by one, we grind them until their team breaks
>they come at us full force and we spam feats, bottleneck bridges, ledge, anything
>we actually win the match
>victory screen doesn't come up
>after a minute entire match restarts and lock on is completely fucked
UBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

You can do this intentionally, so someone on the enemy team probably fucked the server on purpose by alt-tabbing at the right time.

Whenever I get the same sort of situation I just get flattened by 2-3 catapults instead

I bet it was that salty fucking shinobi. Assassin players are scum.

>catapult orochi that keeps running away
>but user i only run away when im outnumbered
>keeps running away from 1v1s in the next match
remove asassins

I have 60k in steel, two years of champ status, I need SOMETHING to spend it on

Honestly i just measure it by hours. It takes around 10 hours of play to get a rep for me give or take

Why play glad in tournaments when i can just play shug?

You swim in steel don't listen to this goy
Had I not bought champ status I would be at 180k steel.
Also aren't his lights 500ms? And the footstab isn't guaranteed after and grants a free gb.

Can someone please tell me WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHITTY ASS ANTI-CHEAT

DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M FUCKING CHEATING TO YOU RETARD

Shug is easily shut down by charcters with good pressure and/or double lights, also if you are unable to react to every GB with a light then your armor is basically not even there

>mfw ramming a stick with iron spikes on it into some prettyboy's fancy golden armor

Anyone else unable to leave tournament mode even after you left it? It's still there and just won't fuck off.

Orochi mains. Be honest.

When was the last time you threw an attack that wasn't a light top or zone.

Sometimes they use top heavies on guard break.

Sometimes they do raw heavies for le sick mind games when not constantly spamming backsteps into storm rush.

>Decide to play some duels just for variety's sake.
>Orochi
>Orochi
>Orochi
>Orochi

Nevermind

AD

>All they ever do is top light, top light, top light, zone
>If you cover top, they spam zone faster than you can react
>If you manage to block it, they alt-tab, resume their 40 tb porn download and get back on again

>A bunch of super low rep Orochi mains who only top light and zone and never play ANY other characters

What is it about Orochi that attracts people so heavily? It's like he's the first character most new players try. Him or Warden.

>Block top
>Block right sometimes and do it fast
>counter GB when they do it
that's it, that's all you need to do when fighting Orochi

MORTEM

*Ledges you*
Lawbabies are so predictable

>Conq

Just how short even is Glad's guard? 1 millisecond?

Short enough for me to fail blocking attacks because it wears off before it connects

half a second before it decays I think.

You are able to block a heavy and not block the follow up heavy. His guard is similar to shinobi to make him fair.

Fuck, kenseis forward dash r1 really benefits from the lack of timesnap

His top light does too because it's such a sudden, snapping motion. Worse than orochi top light sometimes desu

Make your good deed of the day, help out an indecisive user.

Wait, do people actually intentionally lag in this game for a competitive edge?

Also, how often does FH go on sale?

>Wait, do people actually intentionally lag in this game for a competitive edge?
Have you ever noticed how a big chunk of people that play light spamming assassins just so happen to have permanently red latency?

The most well known and popular player in Australia constantly has red ping and instant lights. Everyone I have spoken to about him has noticed it. Really activates the old almonds.

REEEE STOP ROLLING AWAY FROM MY DUN MA GLAS

>Outmeme a kensei in the final
>He AltF4's 1 second before he would have died
Kek. I bet he wrties a reddit post in this very second about Kensei buffs.

>Not canceling the unblockable heavy with Caber Toss
Even then, that's unreliable because of how wonky Caber Toss is.
