first for buying heroes is pay2win
Noah Ross
oh yeah and second for kelthuzad buy him now before he gets nerfed and enjoy ez oneshots and free wins
Jace Nguyen
They shuld have a bi-weekly rotation of discounted mounts, like 30% Shards off cost.
Michael Ramirez
>tfw no firebat
Luis Baker
>2017 >still playing hots instead of best moba
Kayden Foster
why is firebat becoming a hero but hellbat isnt
Joshua Stewart
i heard that game was okay until they added paytowin league rune knockoffs (except they're called cards instead of runes) with your standard shitty f2p gamble chest system to get them
Christopher Rogers
>tfw no preggo viking wife hero
Elijah Thomas
oh yeah and apparently the guy who was in charge of development was fired/quit(?) and replaced by some asshole from a mobile game company so expect nothing but facebook-flavored paytowin garbage from here on out
Michael Johnson
>tfw no wife
Josiah Bennett
Couldn't tell you, played like 3 games, got tired of moving like I had a 90% slow slapped on my ass all the time and uninstalled the beta.
Jaxon Walker
Just got out of my first Medivh game, all match my team was whining how our comp was fucked then they started using my portals halfway and we turned it around. Shit was so FUN
Medivh is BEST BOY
Joshua Perry
I wonder if they'll ever have another Hero Bundle event.
Really?
Evan Kelly
I tried the game and it's very casual. Too casual really
Jace Torres
user, you can only play as 1 hero at a time
Lincoln Gomez
>I wonder if they'll ever have another Hero Bundle event. They should do it annually, got me back into the game.
Dylan Morales
Would probably have thought the same a few years back. Those days, I just play video games to unwind after work or get comfy on some RPG / tactical or maybe a few dota games sometimes.
Jose Jenkins
Good, then you have no excuse for being bad at it :^)
Aiden Stewart
Donald Mustard is now Epic Games' Creative Director he previously made only mobile games
Samuel Stewart
>Be Abathur >Tyrande and KT spend all game trying to snipe me >Have to spend all game repositioning so I can soak without getting converged on
end this
Thomas Carter
>Hey user, the enemy team's draft has a ton of autoattack heroes in it. If you can fifth pick Cassia we'll really outdraft them and have a big advantage this game. >Sorry random HL teammate, I haven't paid the $5 bux to get enough blizzgems to unlock her yet.
Bentley Baker
Just farm out a couple of AI matches to get enough gold to buy half the cast desu senpai
The skins are shit, so blizz has to try to make money on this game somehow, you commie fuck.
Nathan Mitchell
On the surface it is very casual. Try to git gud at it, pick up the intricacies of proper rotating and soaking especially, merc timing, etc. It isn't very "casual" when playing against other competent players.
Brandon Lee
>Pick Cassia >lose anyways because it didn't actually matter
Ian Ramirez
>pay $10bux to zynga to make your bullets do 10% more damage in our shitty mobile cod clone! >it doesn't count as paytowin because it doesn't GUARANTEE that you'll win, it just increases the chances!
Gabriel Bell
>playing draft before getting a decent roster to counterpick
That or you could just get a flexible hero like varian
Jackson Gutierrez
i'm not saying "it's impossible to win in draft without paying money" i'm saying "paying money can give you an in-game advantage, and that is shitty"
Julian Peterson
>butcher on team >feed their ass off >never finish meat quest >butcher on enemy team >quest done by 10 minutes latest, perfect with charges, know when to back off and play it safe
Ethan Anderson
>paying money >in a free to play game where you are showered with gold and weekly free heroes
I bet you say gg if the draft wasnt to your liking, you think draft matters in bronze? Or anywhere else other than master? Come the fuck user, dont be retarded.
Ryan Butler
Rather, paying money opens up possibilities to get more heroes that have their own upsides and downsides. Like, you could say you could buy a broke ass hero on launch, but 1. they will get nerfed, and 2. they already probably have a natural counter. See: malth vs murky, for example.
Sebastian Morales
shit man i logged into dota 2 and i got 117 free heroes on my first day that game makes more money than hots does and it makes it off of only selling cosmetics it's not impossible to make a moba with a non-shitty f2p system, it's just that nobody bothers to do it because they all blindly copy league (the first successful f2p moba)
David Anderson
having more options is stronger than having fewer options
like back in beta when you started off with access to only the first half of a hero's talents and you had to play them and level up to unlock the other 2 in each tier
they removed that because players with more talent options had advantage over those who hadn't unlocked them yet, and they didn't want that
Jason Reed
don't they not even allow your hero/skin purchases to carry over to other regions I wish all the Heroes were always available like Doto but doubt it'll ever happen
ye that was awful
Jason Turner
I bet Alexstrasza is going to be the next Multiclass. Healer/Assassin/Specialist or sometihng.
Gabriel Fisher
I agree, but locking off heroes is a large part of mobas being financially successful, and it honestly hasn't affected me or many players enough to really bog down the game.
Makes me wonder how dota 2 is prospering. My best guess is the market trading that involves IRL money.
Jonathan Moore
dota also sells a hell of a lot more skins by making them like $2.50 instead of $10-$20 or you can buy them from other players for less than $1 on the community market
Robert James
Does anyone know how close you have to be for soaking as Abathur?
No way to test in try mode because of the AI malfurion
Robert Sanchez
just turn the fuckin ai malfurion off, genius
Jose Morales
Crate economy bro, I honestly dont like to gamble for anything but cosmetics in games, so it satisfies that minor itch. It's why lootboxes are a thing. Honestly HoTs could probably make heroes free and do the same thing.
John Rivera
>Have to spend all game repositioning so I can soak without getting converged on You make it sound like you don't do this regularly.
Stupid bronze frogposter.
Austin Roberts
It's also really small
Parker Wood
Valve's keys and crates work very well for sure, though I hate that keys are very difficult to get while crates fill your inventory up and collect dust. I prefer blizz's lootboxes in overwatch/hots because of that.
Carter Hill
xp range is not too big either
fyi it isn't a special mechanic for abathur the distance his body has to be from the creepwave to get xp is the same distance raynor or thrall or ana has to be
Justin Evans
valve redid the system to appease their chinese overlords a while back now there are no keys and no crates in random drops you simply buy an unlocked crate for $2.50 and get to immediately open it
Julian Gonzalez
That's still a significant price to pay for one random virtual item, though. As opposed to the much more common blizz boxes, albeit also purchaseable (at a larger quantity) and have a lot of filler.
Josiah Jenkins
>specialist >multiclass I don't think you know what these mean
Easton Clark
remind me again why every mana hero in this game have 500 of mana.
Zachary White
blizz lootboxes cost something like $1 each if you are somehow stupid enough to pay money for them I don't buy lootboxes in either game but I'd be much happer with the dota-style "pay $2.50 and get one of these 5 sets/skins, with a chance of also getting the flashier rare or ultra-rare skin from the chest" compared to the blizz "pay $1 and get three duplicate voice lines plus a horse"
Luis Edwards
Scaling. Mana limits uptime, uptime limits hero power. Easier to make everything stamdard cost and fixed amount than have bullshit thrown in for no reason.
Connor Cooper
Baseline mana is pointless to mess around with when you can balance it a lot more specifically with individual abilities and talents of each hero.
Angel Rodriguez
But that's actually paying for in-game stat boosts
If you could buy OP heroes that aren't available through any means other than buying Blizzbux, then you'd have a point
Grayson Carter
>implying Ana doesn't have old lady powers that she uses to gather experience from afar
Sebastian Rivera
>This character comes over and smacks a grenade against your ass stopping you from getting healed.
What do you do?
Xavier Gutierrez
>Able to 100% prevent Divine Palm and Ancestral Healing T-thanks Ana
Christian Lee
The difference is Blizz games throw those 1$ loot boxes at you for free constantly.
Valve's drop system are as sparse and jewish as possible. It used to be better in the beta but they nerfed everything.
You can not pay a penny and get tons of cool shit in blizz games
If you don't spend any money you're pretty much never gonna get the juicy shit like Arcanas in dota.
Also dota arcanas are like £20-£30 on release. I've been on nights out cheaper than that. You can eat at a middle class restaurant for less than that. Thats pretty much as jewish as they come for pixels
Zachary Lee
>Enemy Varian goes Colossus >Deletes us >Enemy Varian goes Colossus >Deletes us >Enemy Varian goes Colossus >Deletes us >Friend goes Varian >MEMEBLADE BOYS >Gets shit on and dies >"I don't understand." >Did you try the other talents? >"No, Colossus sucks. You don't get to attack fast with the lifesteal..." >Play QP >Enemy Varian goes CS against him >He goes memeblade >Gets fucking deleted REALLY UH, ACTIVATES MY ALMONDS.BOYS
Sebastian Thomas
burst damage is better than sustained damage
twin blades is for winning ebin 1v1s against any hero (movespeed + huge lifesteal + [PROTECTED] giving you more time to use that lifesteal) but is far less useful in teamfights which happen to be 90% of the game
Austin Perry
I'd rather play a game where skins costs $100 each than one where you get showered in free skins but new heroes cost $5. Even if you can grind for them instead.
Landon Watson
Am I right in thinking fury would be better on BoE for the eternal?
Henry Adams
You still get free shit all the time in dota, but yeah it used to be way better, you can actually bet to get free chests and most sets are dirt cheap on the market place. Arcanas are generally pretty high quality, the fucking juggernaut one is pretty amazing.
Christian Thompson
Colossal makes the immortal vulnerable helping your entire team. So no. Fury is dogshit and should never be taken.
Aiden Richardson
sort of but if you just want to draft an immortal-dps hero on boe you've got better options than fury varian maybe if it's qm AND you already have a tank
fury is great for soloing camps though so you might want it on bhb
Grayson Edwards
might as well play fucking tazdingo
Brandon James
As someone that's played both games since alpha (Ok, beta for dota 2, but alpha for hots):
Hots has a better cosmetic system
>Community created cosmetics is a good idea on paper, shit in practice, the quality assurance is all over the place, leave skin making to the devs
>Loot drops are shit in dota, much better system in hots
>The "Heroes aren't free" system in other mobas is a bit annoying, but not really relevant in the long term. You'll find yourself playing a small group of heroes to begin with in dota for a while anyway because of the "tutorial" phase, and even when you have everything unlocked you still tend to "one trick" heroes for a long period of time anyway to git gud, and its not like its even hard to unlock heroes on hots anyway
Connor Myers
man when I was past the tutorial phase in dota I was first pick randoming every game for a longass time so I would have experience with all the heroes
Hunter Sanchez
>huge lifesteal Not really, the mortal strike got fucked when Blizz made it ability damage killing at least a third of your lifesteal potential.
Austin Carter
I also played both since beta, I like the HoTs lootchest system, but it's kinda a major bummer to get a legendary for a Hero you don't own. Dota's loot was really good before the last major patch when you could literally wager every game for free chests.
Dylan Scott
>Loot drops are shit in dota, much better system in hots I can tell you after 4000 hours of playing Dota 2, I got like, 10 non-crate drops total.
Dota 2 doesn't have an economy because there is no crafting or drops. Everything is based off of how much they cost in the store or the crate prices. Why even bother buying shit from the market or trying to trade when Valve doesn't incentivise you to? Sucks for everyone who wants hats. The only way anyone makes money off of trading in Dota 2 is if they scam someone or run a trading bot that obviously lowballs you.
Aaron Davis
>Hit 10k gold >Consider hanging on to gold to buy Junkrat on release >Think, fuck it I shit gold, lets buy TLV
THIS IS FUN INCARNATE WON EVERY GAME SO FAR AND EVEN GOT MVP IN ONE
QM PLAYERS LITERALLY CANNOT PROCESS THE CONCEPT OF SPLIT PUSHING
>My team + enemy team go into mines to fight over skulls >Baelog pushes the shit in bot >Eric bribes a siege camp and pushes the shit in top with mega-powered mercs >Olaf goes with team into mines to stall as much as possible
>Enemy team comes out of the mine with a 60-40 skull lead >...and no buildings left
God damn nigga these viking do work
Lincoln Rodriguez
They revamped the system, I get like shit drops every ten games.... too bad I have like every decent set that drops
Wyatt Brown
Haven't played since pre-7.00.
Is the trade ratio still 10:1 for Commons to Rares? That was one of the things that really annoyed me since people were making shit up but couldn't decide what the ratios should be since nobody knew drop rates. I heard Valve announced drop rates for CS:GO recently, maybe the prices will fix themselves eventually.
I miss my hats in Dota. I miss Dota. I just...can't care enough to go back for some reason after I burned out.
Ethan Bennett
Why isn't naxxrammas kelthuzad a base recolor?
David Murphy
>buying heroes Do people actually buy heroes?
Saddest. Junkrat is the most boring, uninspired design
Isaiah Campbell
I've done the same, and I can't disagree with you more.
Most of HoTS cosmetics look like shit, and they're bloated with constant tint-shifting bullshit to fill their fake loot boxes.
In HoTS, I've wanted maybe two skins. In DoTA, I consistently found the skins to be doing something interesting and different.
Also the ability to mix-and-match cosmetic pieces is fucking god-tier
William Foster
team flamed me for picking water dragon over jug as solo support
thing is, they had a lot of interrupt and jug would have been stunned 9/10 anyway, getting no value out of it while water dragon is always good
who was in the right here?
Isaiah Brown
If you picked Li Li in HL then you If QM them
Justin White
>the ability to mix-and-match cosmetic pieces rate my malfurion set specifically chosen for maximum ugliness and clipping
Xavier Young
What did he mean by this?
Honestly I's day Jugs anyway, and hang way back. If they come gunning for you to stun you out of it, they're putting themselves in a bad spot either way. Or just wait until the most threatening stuns go out and pop it.
Jose Reed
>amd more Delete this OP start over pls
Zachary Foster
if you pick solosupport lili in a draft mode then you already fucked up regardless of build however dragon is good and cups is bad vs interrupts so his teammates are stupid for telling him to go cups
Jayden Butler
>Also the ability to mix-and-match cosmetic pieces is fucking god-tier
It's a lame gimmick that only makes Valve more money because of Steam marketplace
>what if instead of selling a whole skin, we sold PIECES OF A SKIN??
Ryder Bennett
It's boottyful
Christopher Nelson
best part is, all the cosmetics are ugly so nothing in it cost more than 10 cents on the community market
mix-and-matching used to be better but current skins are often real fucky about it and don't really match with anything else
Daniel Ramirez
>mix-and-matching used to be better but current skins are often real fucky about it and don't really match with anything else If Valve or the skinmakers actually gave a shit about quality control, we wouldn't be having this problem but alas.
Elijah Clark
best girl.
Aaron Lopez
Yeah but if his team is retarded, Jugs would have yielded a better pay off were he to actually get a successful one going, more than a Water Dragon would have done.
Sebastian Johnson
Garry seems pretty fun based on free week. He has a lot of buttons and his cooldowns are super short.
Carson Harris
Cause no one makes single items anymore, it's always entire sets.
Alexander Rodriguez
>Trying to learn Abathur on dragon shrine >Get the "most shrines capped" card after match
Is this how you soak lads?
Seriously though I've never seen an actual Abathur player body soak like this, it feels pretty risky
Andrew Taylor
I love horrible mix and matches, but nothing will ever top my love for Divine Anchor but with the pimp hat.
Eli Stewart
That doesn't really change anything though.
Some of the problems are the engine letting stupid shit break how things look, and some of the problems are modelers doing a shit job.
Andrew Long
Must not have been playing for very long, that's generally how the better Abathur players do it, but it of course IS very risky, so you have to watch your own ass well.
Charles Ramirez
>it feels pretty risky It is, that's why the payoff is higher.
Angel Bell
My Invoker sure is shiny
Logan Hall

Carson Walker
Reminds me of Dunkey's review of HOTS
>We're up 20 kills and all their forts are dead HOW ARE WE THE SAME LEVEL????
