EMD2 releases in Japan August 31

Previous Thread:

what are the mainstream portraits? I need to avoid them

Nene

I love Etrian Odyssey's portraits.
Even the bad ones.

The ones in OP, you hipster fuck

There are bad ones?

help

who's your demo MVP?

...

Necromancer with Poison. Shit does like 120 damage per turn.

Bind it so you can get the conditional drop.

EO3 brings one to mind...

My Masurao. Total glass cannon, but I love him.

...

Wait, are you talking about 1u or 2u? My party is around l50 in 2u, so doubt I'll do anything drastic there.

EOU has no Princess, only EO2U has.

You saying that you are not feeling your party sounded like you weren't at it that long.
But yeah, a bit late to restart now wihtout losing all that progress.

Is Rover and Necromancer in the same party doable? If so which summon is better for Rover, wolf or hawk?

Too lazy to redraw that. Why do artists have to get all fancy with their text?

Ah, yeah. Of course. I did mention being at the Sky Frotress, I was thinking of exchanging Lands with a Hexer, but then my princess got nothing going for her. Ah, ces't la vie.

On another note. What's some good parties for 1u classic mode?

How many necros can I have on a team before they start to need help from other classes?
What classes can help them most and which lines should they be on?

Except for a few skills Wraiths are basically ammunition for the Necromancer.
Having more in stock would be nice but only having two is not unplayable by any means.

Which pet you want really depends on your party.
Dog Rover is a support with binds, ailments, stun and healing. They have a weakness when it comes to full party heals and Necromancer has a full party heal - so the two of them could share healing duties and you take two more full damage characters along.
Hawk Rover is a damage character that has conviniently access to stab and cut damage. And ice but that's only one party targeted skill.

Been theorycrafting a viable Scyte Reaper build since support Reaper is actually okay

The nice thing about Scythe Reaper is that your scythe skills dont all need Miasma, the main ones just need status effects. Those are
>Great Scythe of Cold Ash
>280% damage + 560% damage follow up if status is applied
>Scythe of Death
>330% damage, 50% chance of instant death, 2.5x damage multiplier on sleeping enemies, 3.5x death multiplier on sleeping enemies (this does not factor in the 2x damage multiplier on sleeping enemies provided by the ailment)

Scythe of Death is the interesting one, since it hits like a fucking truck and might just insta kill anything it touches.

Then there's Scythe of Cruel Poison which requires Miasma weapon but is as strong as Venom Throw from IV.

So I'll combo this with a support 1kat Earthian Masurao like the madman I am
>Armor Piercer is 40% defense debuff
>Advantageous position is 40% attack buff to row
>Mist Slash has a 90% chance to apply sleep
>Sword's Vigor applies a 20% attack debuff to all my attacks

Other party members to consider are a Cannon Dragoon for Hypno Cannon (100% sleep chance) and just general bunker shenanigans

A Lunarian Botanist might be helpful to get Cold Ash and Great Poison running when Sleep doesnt work or maybe even a support reaper so I can get someone to use feeble miasma

Sorry, must have missed the Sky Castle bit.

Princess would still do some good work with a Hexer.
You can still use Attack Order on her, the Alchemist and the Dark Hunter (although you will need to use the switch command and put the Hexer on the dangerous frontline).
And Link Order copies a portion of the damage that activates it and adds a bit on top. So just with an Alchemist Princess dishes out good damage.
And your Princess is of course your healer - so taking out the Landy doesn't make her useless by any means.

I see, so how does a (Chain) Fencer, Dragoon, (Dog) Rover, Necromancer, Shaman party sound like? I feel like a warlock would be nice for the Fencer but I'm not sure if the party could survive without the Dragoon. Could it?

Beat Etreant in 1U and unlocked the 6th Stratum. What should my course of action be to raise my chances of survival in that hellhole?

Once they spill into the front line you have a problem.
Add a Dragoon for general tanking and maye a 1kat Masurao for physical damage.
If you make one of your Necros a potato you can have all races - and the potato necro can even act as your healer.

if you use your necromancers ghosts to tank you'll be just fine. Ghosts can use hit-taker, just need to level up summon ghost to raise their base HP or get Zombie Powder and break the game

Do all quests you can before even setting foot in there.
Get some Therica B's and Nectars or anything that helps against instant death and petrification.
Always have a thread on you, even more than before.
Be prepared to go back to town without much progress.
Pray for mercy.

Noice, looks like I finally found my meme party.

also just remember to use Chain Blast in the fullgame, its really stupid

Ah, that's good to hear. Thanks for all the neat input. I'll venture a bit further into the duengons and see how it works out.

And if I want my party potato-free?

then we ask you firmly but politely to leave

...

I already planned an all tatertot team where their names are different dishes, I just want to try something different in the demo.

I will, thanks. Btw just realized I have to think about the formation, are Rovers fine on the front?
So Fencer/Rover
Warlock/Necromancer/Shaman?

>pun names

>look up the specializations for Dragoon
>can't decide which one I want more
I'm seriously beginning to consider reworking my party and going Double Dragoon so that I can have one of each. Somebody stop me.

If you do that, put your Shaman on the front.
They can wear light armor just like Fencer, Rover and Necromancer but a Brouni has better defensive stats than Therian or Celestrian.
Warlock can only wear cloth so should definitely not stand in the front.

Not going to lie: The start is not going to be pretty.
Try to get Aegis Prayer as high as possible to stand a chance to survive.
Merciless Wall increases the damage your Wraiths take at low level and they have trash for defence anyways. Don't expect to be carrying around two Beasts in your slots not taken by the dog - more like two Ronin if not worse, trying to tank...

Then you don't need to reclass a potato into a Necromancer.
If you don't want a bunny you could use a Pugilist for binding which gives extra defensive potential.

Oh, thanks, sounds like it's gonna be rough. Although I already finished the demo, just want to try more classes and partys to see what I like the most, I already got a lv 10 Warlock, so I'll hope he can carry the team, while the rest get their skills.

Your Rover is still a Therian? It'll be fine on the front row then, actually your Shaman would be too if you're that worried, Potato's are the second tankiest class

Make one Earthlain Gunner Dragoon that spams Front Guard -> Gun Mount and a Brouni Shield Dragoon that spams Material Guard -> Gun Mount since they have more TP.
If you need something else you are free to have one Dragoon to that, while the other uses the Guard skill needed for the enemy.
If your potato uses Full Guard -> Gun Mount, your human can deal damage without a worry in the world.

Guess I'll see which one works better.

there's nothing wrong with double dragoon, the thing about EOV is that almost all the classes work well with eachother
>Chain fencer can proc off Evasion fencers counters
>Necromancers can both control the ghosts
>Rovers can use one pet each
>Warlocks can synergnize their spells through their passives
etc. I like to imagine different specialties as different classes completely.

Double Drago(o)n works because one will be attack specced and the other one defense specced. The defense specced one should be a brownie and the attack specced one a Earthian or a Therian (wait for the DLC portaits if this triggers you).

As for their synergies, Cannon Dragoon has this ability called Gun Revenge which is a passive that grows everytime a bunker, a pillbox or someone you're guarding is hit and makes your next attack get a free Charge basically. However you dont want your Cannon Dragoon spending all day building walls so thats where your Tank Dragoon comes into place. Gun Revenge will proc off any bunker that is placed, regardless of who placed it. So you have one Dragoon building up a fortress while the other Dragoon is busy loading their cannon with Bombardment Prep.

>Double Drago(o)n
I see what you did

>Rovers can use one pet each
They can even give a command to the same pet and it will do both (unless it's a hawk currently Sky Diving).
So you are losing one attack or lick for two commands, when it's usually a one-to-one trade with a single Rover.

Cannon Dragoon can built Pillboxes passively with Gun Support whenever they reduce damage or negate an attack themselves.
And Shield Dragoon has a passive that lets other people negate attacks.

The Shaman's Oracle: Three Runs deals 1000% INT damage against a single target (5 random hits with 200% each). But they have to reload by reapplying an elemental Prayer.
Another Shaman can just reload those and even heal a bit in the process with Gospel, Consoling the Dead and Affection.

My course is clear.

Man, both FemDragoons got a great protrait. The bobvut one look so miffed. And Eyepatch is great as is.

I can't unsee the short arm.

Wait, so why am I getting these Copper Shards again
Everything is upgrading with Bronze Ingots

What are Shamans supposed to do during random battles? Mine is usually just standing around.

I can't see the short arm. She is wearing shoulder pads, so you only see her upper arm a good way down her biceps.

wait until you see jenetta's arms

I'd also recommend a Pugilist, you can cast Giving it Everything(jp name) on your Cannon Dragoon which is literally Berserker's Vow and then you can protect your Cannon Dragoon with Bodyguard which the Shield Dragoon gets. Buster Cannon is really that danke, shits got like 2000% damage not factoring in Gun Revenge, thats Ecstasy level 20 tier without having to triple bind anything.

The other two members are up to you

Augh, now I can't unsee it. She got tiny tiny arms.

You need some Tin Shards which are DLC.

But no, we got the bootleg version of EOV - Copper Ingots will magically turn into Bronze Ingots if you switch from Recycle to Forge.

nothing really, they're bards + princesses, they just stand there and look pretty. You can give them a status effect bow later to poke at things or cast attack buff if you need it I guess.

Wait, what?
So in the demo, I can't do anything but stock up?

Give them the sword made from dog normal drop and bat conditional drop and forge it once to give them a cheap ice attack or the staff made from Owlbeast normal drop (also forged once) to give them a cheap fire attack.
Later on there will be similar weapons.

>mfw Dog gets killed
I didn't ask for this

I was kidding with the DLC.
It's just a translation inconsistency - Copper Ingot = Bronze Ingot.

Man, that sounds awesome. Can I use both Earthian portrais? And what other classes would work well with that?

Alrighty
But then what about shards?
If he mentioned I missed it, but do they magically fuse into ingots after I get enough?

When everyone is at full health, my dog is always licking my hawk.
When the hawk gets one shot, my dog can not lick it.
It's heartbreaking.

10 of them magically fuse into 1 ingot.

We can agree this is the best EO game, right?

You really want your Shield Dragoon to be a potato since their skills get pretty expensive and humans have a small TP pool.
Potatoes can not have human portraits - unless you use the DLC portraits which are different things altogether like Teach, Mediko and Jack Frost Gunner.
But while both Earthlain portraits are great I would not suggest running them.

You could however use the second Earthlain portrait for the Pugilist since it's also a Earthlain class. Other than the portrait Earthlain into Earthlain reclasses are completely identical from the original.

>This again
Last time eo3 won

Yeah

the millennia gal

You can use both Earthian portraits if you want but its more efficient to reclass them to Therian and Brownie but if its not cute whats the point am I right? I'll be using a Therian Gunner with Gunner chan's DLC if it comes out though.

The Cannon Dragoon is strong enough to carry the DPS on their own, they're like Arbalist from EO3. So you want a Pugilist to give them Giving it Everything which is Berserker's Vow also free binds so why not.

Then you want your buffers for even more explosions and you have lots of options
>Masurao has Armor Piercer, -40% def, Advantageous position, which is basically Attack Tango, +40% attack
>Reaper has Brtittle Miasma, -35% defense and Feeble Miasma, 1.5x on binds and status
>Rover has Target Arrow, -30% + army of pets for Zoo strategies
>Shaman has Attack buffs and Oracle:Dance which lowers fire resistance by up to 50%, Buster Cannon is a fire type attack

Necromancers are also viable since they have a -35% defense debuff but shits gonna get crowded

Heck you could actually go double cannon dragoon if you want to be silly, I mean they're not mowing you down if you have that much heavy armor on the front line.

First Untold had a Millenuim Girl
Second Untold had boob ghost, the Century Girl
Third Untold will have a Decade Girl - be ready for the Return Of The Flat.

>Pugilist with a Dragoon portrait
its just crazy enough to work also they both use bash types so your attack animation wont be bothering you

>owl beast is fully bound and poisoned
Man, now I feel bad for it...

That's not V

F.O.E.s are our friends. Let's not hurt F.O.E.s. Really when you think about it, F.O.E.s are the good guys, and explorers are intruding in their territory.

We should all go and get eaten by F.O.E.s, as a sign of good will.

U1 is way more fun to play. But then again, U2 has this qt...

will we get Shitake in EOU3?

CORES ARE SHIT

SHIT

>Teach is in EOV
>but Fang isn't

Hopefully. Highlanders are still my favorite class in the series, even if they were nerfed a bit in the second Untold.

I beat the game with a Highlander even if it was suboptimal, it was just insta killing those dinosaurs by stabbing them in the head

it was fun*

>Highlander
>Suboptimal
Did we play the same game...?

good

>find secret area on b2f
>behind another crawler is a chest
>healing knife is inside
>has a skill already unlocked on it
>"amateur medic", can only used in battle
>try it out on my shaman with her great wis
>27hp
Good to see weapons found in the labyrinth are still worthless.

I mean in EOU2 you had Dark Hunters and War Mages which made everyone elses DPS look like shit

How do I set up autowalk tiles in the EO5 demo? I see the auto walk button but I don't see the arrows

They sure are no Fafnir or Dark Hunter.

click the auto tab

Under the "play" button there is the label to change to the tab to set the paths. But with floor jump, autowalk is pretty moot

Right below the auto walk button is a tab with "Auto".
You probably put your color palete on top of it - that's what I did.

Huh which area?

The far western side.
There is an invisible shortcut next to the second crawler.

Sadly I haven't found a way to reach the northern side of B3F.

>Decade Girl

...

Thanks, I missed that entire area.

EO have been pretty consistent on how the shortcut looks, if I do actually remember right.
But in 5 there was a hidden shortvut (one without the owlface rock surrface)
Was this always a thing in EO, two different looks for the wall where the shortcut is?

So did they just completely remove the little red triangle for putting arbitrary labels on the map? I can't find it.
