The threads have been getting deleted? Why?

Hiveswap's sold about 22 thousand copies on Steam. Maybe the sequel will happen after all.

Mods don't like Homestuck, except this is an actual game so I don't know what their major malfunction is.

You can't assume those are sales, remember backers got a free copy.

What is Doom?

Fate and Judgement I always thought. That's how it would mean in english (deem being the verb for doom.)

You know what the final thing is going to be, and what you do is decisive. I dunno.

HEAVING

God I hope this thread stays. All I really want is an user-style homestuck/hiveswap chat and you cant do that on reddit or tumblr. I don't know what other board or chan we could move to. I miss mspachan

ANYWAY, which of the previewed trolls are you guys most excited to see? I can't decide.

It's all about suffering and endings.

The beekeeper because I want to see if she lives up to her official porn.

such is the way of life on cuckchan! come reunite with your lost friends on /homosuck/

He wears the mask just in case his face show.

so how is the game, is good or not

Okay

If he pulls that off, would he die?

/homosuck/ is like 10% homestuck its 8ad

It's okay. It's not long enough to really judge it. I like the music.

It's so-so.

...

beez

I wonder if the Kickstarter trolls will make an appearance?

This guy.

Jk, blueblood guy and beekeeper seem best

>official porn.

excuse me

I think they will. here's their reference sheet

Yeah the girl who designed the beekeeper troll drew porn of her, but she got in trouble because she revealed the sign when it was supposed to be a secret. Now she really hates hussie and wrote an angry deviantart journal post about it.

I mean the plus4chan thread always existed, but it's a ghost town and the community basically disappeared after they got rid of their /mspa/ board.

>Now she really hates hussie and wrote an angry deviantart journal post about it.
yikes oh well
her symbol looks like the overwatch thing

> he doesn't know about the official porn

>Now she really hates hussie and wrote an angry deviantart journal post about it.
linkies?

found it, i'm not google challenged

This seems to be a reaction to the 3D time getting fired, not her having to take down the image

jitenshasw.deviantart.com/journal/The-mother-of-all-updates-600211309

video game cosplay

would it have looked better in 3D ?

The UI looks better imo

it looks a lot less cluttered and maybe certain things would have been a lot more memorable. the clarissa poster by itself and in plain view helps a lot for visual aid in the type of girl joey aspires to be

objectively it looks like shit though

i bet she didn't even kill anyone to get that background

Do you think any ancestors besides the condesce and psiioniic are still alive during hiveswap? I think darkleer and ghb could have a long enough lifespan, but no adults on alternia anymore

It's not Alternia

If this game had come out 5 years ago, would it have been better
Would it have been better for the comic
Would it have been better for the fanbase

what

Infinitely. Hussie could have been the writer.

Possibly.
During the period it would've been in production? No. After it was released? Yeah.
Probably.

What happened to all the writing he did during his year off from the comic

>less than $200,000 for a budget of over $2,000,000
JUST

i miss homestuck

maybe that'll be in future acts
:)

The 3D version looked like shit. I'm glad they switched to 2D. I wish they did that from the start to not waste all the time and money.

Me too. I feel like someone with battered wife syndrome or something.

That was probably a lie, he was busy visiting his dying father and getting entangled in legal problems and trying to draw a few Homedtuck panels to worry about writing Hiveswap.

It's just alright.

My only real complaint about the content of the game is that Cohen doesn't know how to tell a joke. There's no humor in the game, there are only observations. There was a show in the 90's called Clarissa Explains It All. There was a toy in the 90's called Lite Brite.

It's also blatantly a demo that took years to slap together and the abundant typos, coding errors, and rushed presentation pretty much expose Hiveswap as a con, but that's another matter.

I really wanted to like the game, but all I could think about the whole time is how much I wished Hussie was writing. It could have taken the game from being 6/10 to at least 8/10.

>General consensus on act 2 seems to be anywhere between 3 to 9 months
WHY

...

worth the money, (unless you're a sucker who backed it on kickstarter) but definitely not worth waiting 5 years.

Me too, user.

I don't really know how I feel about that, though. Hussie doesn't exactly deserve any goodwill as a writer after how Homestuck turned out to be, from various flaws throughout Acts 5 and 6 to the absolute trainwreck it became after Game Over. But I think he could still be good for Hiveswap if he did the jokes. The Crowbar comic on PXS felt every bit like an Intermission continuation. He's got some magic left in him, he just rarely seems interested in using it.

From who? Just fans, or WhatPumpkin members?

...

If all 8 episodes of Hiveswap and Hauntswitch take 9 months to develop, that's six more fucking years

Hiveswap's bombing, user. They aren't even going to get to make another act unless Big Fucking Toby bankrolls them to completion.

Hiveswap's like Rasputin, it just won't die despite everything thrown at it.

Cuphead's coming out at the end of the month. The Bendy and the Ink Machine fandom pumped it up and I fully expect they'll steamroll Hiveswap out of existence as a concept together.

they just got 1.5 million dollars in investments

Homestuck Inc. isn't What Pumpkin

But how does Hussie keep convincing people to give him money? He can't keep getting away with it!

Is Hussie getting into some shady shit? Who else would bankroll him?

Have you noticed that sometimes Big Money will try to capitalize on trends long after they've hit their peak?
I fully expect it's like that. they look at the numbers Homestuck used to generate and go "WOW, WE COULD MAKE MONEY FROM THIS"

His mother referred to Hiveswap as "[her] son's game." We know he's willing to lie to his own mother.

...

This is probably why.

So Jude is fedorafreak, right?

Con men are skilled at conning, what can I say?

>Nanna says FF reminds her of her son
>Jude is her nephew
Hmmmmmm

Although not by blood

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this.

It didn't click for me until I saw the lovingly rendered jar of piss in his treehouse, then I noticed they have the same manner of speaking.

I guess the hsg obsession with the Gent of Piss finally paid off somehow, huh.

>Joey dies in the Sburbpocalypse
>Jude lives
What went so right?

How long before cringy big-name ecelebs start doing lps of this? That's bound to increase sales, right?

Jacksepticeye played it, hopefully doesn't attract too many dumbfucks to the fan base.

then Who is dr. david brinner???

The game is too boring and short to be the next Undertale.

A bit too late for that.

he's a ghost psychiatrist
jude has no interest in psychiatry

I'd love to know what universe you've been sitted in this whole time where the Homestuck fanbase wasn't filled to the brim with dumbfucks for its entire runtime

Doesn't have to be the next undertale. Just has to sell well enough to fund itself.

Allow me to rephrase; I hope it doesn't attract even MORE dumbfucks to the fan base.

the 'fanbase' is beyond salvation at this point

You're not wrong.

Yeah, that happened when it was split into a hundred pieces and scattered to the winds back in 2013/2014

A few days ago, someone asked WP on Twitter when act 2 is coming, and offered 6-9 months as a guess. WP's response was that they have a stronger system, but they didn't address how accurate the guess might be.

Even 9 months for the entire 8 acts sounds insufferable. 6 more years of waiting for a complete story is just depressing.

The game's just really uninteresting, I don't know if anyone who doesn't already like Homestuck would care.

like most things, it could introduce people to the comic if they are bored enough

fedorafreak is John's Neighbor.

Dr. David Brinner also happens to be John's Neighbor.

Then Act 1 will turn them off.

simple enough, they just skip to the trolls

Unlike EA or Ubisoft, WhatPumpkin doesn't have to return a profit on the $2M of Kickstarter funds. It's free capital. Well, practically free, they had to give out some swag like stuffed animals, tarot cards and sew-on patches, aside from the actual product (which is just digital copies, so materials expense is zero).

Doesn't matter how much of the capital they spend when they don't have investors that anticipate dividends or even payback of loans.

I fucking hate Act 5.

Hussie has to pay back his Homestuck Inc. investor.

It was cute enough. We may be looking at it more harshly because we know how good it could have been, but I think new people will find it more interesting then we do. The MC was likable, the art was cozy, music was listenable, and I think Alternia was done enough justice to make it interesting to a newcomer without being too confusing. Also, ninties nostalgia sells. The humor wasn't steller, but I think I would be more forgiving to it if I wasn't primed to expect Hussie's brilliant comedic voice. Undertale's humor was pretty hit-or-miss too, but people still praise it for being hilarious, hiveswap should at least be passable in that regard.

My biggest concern is that the game threw in too many references to things only homestuck readers would understand, and might have alienated newbies. But I think the only way to judge that is from the perspective of someone new to the franchise, so I can't say for sure. Also the bugs and typos. They have got to release a patch for that.

No he doesn't

>Here Hussie, here's $500,000. Don't worry, no charge for it ;)
Yeah, sure.

...

It represents freedom.

Systems and order. Being a part of a the flow of fate and not trying to change it. Doom players have a tendancy for self-sacrifice as well.
