>Growth Spurts new arc hasn't even had Asgore or Toriel on screen yet >people are already bitching about Toriel apparently being shit on What the fuck?
Andrew Powell
I'm willing to bet it's just the one user who keeps trying to start shit here as well.
If you have a youtube account the my mix stuff on the home page has actually made me discover a lot of bands I wouldn't have found out about otherwise.
Aiden Richardson
People are jumping to conclusions, a common pastime on the internet. Let the story play out and then we'll see. After his take on Chara I trust him to make an interesting portrayal of both of them, even if I end up not agreeing with it.
Elijah Jackson
>finally play the game after browsing /utg/ for cute art >its ok >going through a second time because why the fuck not get the pacifist end >these shitty fucking amalgamate battles Id be glad to kill all these fucking assholes in a genocide but of course toby made the actual gameplay as tedious as fucking possible. I dont want to hate this game but the overhype, tedium of actual playing, and the cloyingness of everything in it just pisses me off. That is all go back to the fapfics or whatever is left of this general.
Wyatt Mitchell
>my mix I've never seen or heard of that.
Jacob Parker
youtube.com/watch?v=FfQe1TZOImQ I think that user may be jumping the gun, but I do hope that the arc is fair to both parties. Asgore is framed sympathetically so far, but I hope the story can bring a relation to both. I sent my piece to him about my interpretation about her anger, hopefully, he delivers something satisfying.
Colton Ross
They would be impossible to kill due to when you hit them they gain health.

Just type youtube.com and at the top or in the middle will be a bunch of my mix playlists that take songs from what you've already listened to and adds songs that are like those.
I guess most people miss those because they just link to their subs? That's what I usually do anyways
Carter Price
It's interesting that right now she doesn't know about Asriel's crimes, because that was always my biggest question, "why Asgore and not Asriel". Her reaction to that will be interesting. Maybe she initially takes a double standard. Or maybe she doesn't and kicks her son out for a while.
One thing I'd like, but isn't necessary, is that if this Frisk has hard reset then maybe they could tell Toriel about the time Asgore committed suicide in front of them. I always wondered how she'd react to that.
Still, I have faith that the story will be compelling.

No problem, user. I hope you find some fun music to listen to,
Adam Brown
I do want to say that I do grow tired of the Toriel depictions as a perfect benefactor or on the other end, depictions that are basically"wow, what a bitch" and nothing further. Anytime a content person is willing to put forth a greyer view, a more humanizing view, I am hyped for it. Like my music, I just crave some deepness and complexity.

Pretty much this. It's possible to be a caring mother and hold a grudge and have that grudge be somewhat hypocritical and like puns.

Yeah, I never complain when Pyron posts some of their Toriels, same with Semi (just as long as the kiddie diddle shit is a polearm away). Lent Si draws a lot of well-drawn Tori, but there are a lot of depictions that are kind of 'out there' and out of theme.

Alan Watts described in some of his talks about views on existence as a journey, and how that line of thought can lead to someone missing the point of their time here. Even today, you can see that many folks, likely including yourself, are out for the next objective to build up to next one, and to the next, and so forth. From grade school to college, to career. Though, Watts thought that existence is "best understood by analogy with music." That is to say that existence is at its core a "playful thing" and like music, existence isn't something that is meant to be rushed towards the end or any particular part. The point was the "sing or to dance while the music was being played." In other words, life ought to be something enjoyed in the moment itself, to embrace the whole composition instead of an ellusive bar you aim to eventually get to.
In Undertale, the setting depicts a society of monsters that so badly want to be freed from their mountain. Holding out hope for the eventuality of liberation is well justified, but how do you think those monsters felt when they finally had their freedom in the aftermath? Was the point of a lot of their lives soley driven by the desire for eventuality of the barrier being broken? And would they take for granted the lives and moments they shared together when they were still trapped?
Think of an Undertale character that you like, a favorite perhaps, or someone you find interesting, and from your interpretation, how do you think they would cope with this new paradigm of living just to live? Do you think it would be hard for them to change their mindset from a such a single minded hope to now inhereting that reality? What can you gleam from that line of thought about yourself and your view of existence? How does your interpration of that character relate to your sense of understanding of existence in relation to your own life?
Love to hear your thoughts.
Grayson Carter
>Was the point of a lot of their lives soley driven by the desire for eventuality of the barrier being broken? I don't think so, with only a few possible exceptions. Bratty and Catty are excited about breaking the barrier, but they're not involved with it. They can't affect it. Their lives aren't driven by it.
Asgore, Undyne and Alphys are exceptions. They are directly involved with the project. For Asgore, everything turned out a lot better than he expected, and he probably has plenty of diplomatic and bureaucratic things to go through for a while after the barrier breaks. Undyne and Alphys have their own changed relationship to occupy them for a while.
And because breaking the barrier was mostly a matter of waiting for another human to fall down, it's not something you can meaningfully fill most of your time with. Even the people who did dedicate time to it had other things in their lives.
Ian Moore
I actually think once the flurry of diplomacy is over, Asgore in particular will be fine with just living his life. Working in his garden and trying out new teas. It's all he really wanted after all, not counting his family back.
Christopher Taylor
I doubt that for the majority, the barrier was the most active goal in their lives. I think there's probably plenty who hoped it would be broken down and give them new opportunities, but they're not the generation most invested in it.
The generation when Chara and Asriel died were incensed and likely wanted out asap, but lacked the ability to do so. Rather, they started setting down building blocks for the future. There's a saying in my countries that "you only plant chestnut trees for your grandchildren", and I think that rings very true here.
The current monsters are free inside a prison and while that may still provide them a fulfilling experience, the feeling of confinement is very real. They wish for the barrier to break, but each have their individual little reasons, rather than a unified cause. Hell, some don't even plan on leaving anytime soon. At this point I think it's less about what the surface can actually give them, and more about just physical freedom.

You joke, but a little while ago one of those Undertale theory youtubes went on about what symbolism may be behind the battle screens being black and while and during that he surmised that "the most powerful monsters, like Toriel, Asgore and Sans are all white"
Austin Sullivan
The symbolism is that Toby isn't a very good artist and doing it all in silhouette art means he doesn't have to do stuff like shading
Also it looks cooler than if it was in color
Camden Wilson
