considering rolling a priest cuz I've never played a healer before but..
Is healing raids "fun"? I've never raided before, and I know people say mages just spam frostbolt in raids, but that still sounds like fun when you can upgrade your gear and see it actually have an effect on your damage numbers.
I feel like healing 5mans would be fun since you can actually see you have an impact on the group, like if you don't heal it's a wipe, but in raids where there's like 5 healers do you even know if you're doing anything?

healing is pretty stressful in a fun way.

You see health bars dropping and you are always in a panic to keep people alive.

It's a bit of an adrenalin rush sometimes and good fun.

Yes. Sometimes you'll feel bored staring at healthbars but other times you'll be clenching your butthole.

tanking i just have to worry about positioning, and my rotation, and on my mage all i have to do is press F

healing seems the most taxing part of raiding and im not sure im up for it

Priest is THE most sought-after healer in vanilla. your job is pretty easy in Molten Core and BWL, moderately challenging in AQ (because you actually have to watch your steps), and can get very hectic in the 20 man instances (more personal responsibility because you can't just go afk or heal half-assed any more) or, god forbid, Naxxramas.
There are meters to show healing done. just wildly spamming big heals doesn't really cut it though if your targets are already on full health, you'll only rise in raw heals and overhealing then, instead of effective healing.
you're also usually the standard go-to healer for 5 mans due to sheer throughput.
You're squishy as fuck though. If you end up getting hit by a boss or even a trashmob you're usually dead right away. which may happen because there are a lot of stun/fear mechanics hitting the tank and bosses then switch targets, sometimes randomly, and a bit heal at the wrong time means you end up with the most aggro after an aggro wipe. Palas are easier in that regard.
