i can't understand lol's continued popularity, i really can't. the game is so fucking static and boring it's ridiculous. i played the game on and off for about six or seven months in 2010/2011 and i fucking left it for smite of all things. in between reading lol and smite guides i was constantly watching dota cinema's hero spotlights and top plays clips. when i started playing dota i was like "holy shit where has this game been all my life", i was constantly comparing it to lol and it made me realize just how shitty and dumbed down lol actually is.

Normies are difficult to bore. When CoD tried to actually be a good game (AW) they complained en masse because it wasn't the same shit.

People really want instant gratification in their games. Anything that requires patience to learn and also requires the player to get good and knowing how bad you are usually gets dropped by them. I kinda understand them to be honest. The game has a monstrous learning curve and admiting you suck really feels shitty. And let's not get into other technical difficulties of Dota such as hidden in interactions and the such.
