/indie/ Indie and Misc. Games General

Last thread:
>What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, RUINER, Cuphead, Heat Signature, Steamworld Dig 2, LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, OneShot, Rimworld, Age of Decadence, VA-11 HALL-A, Subnautica, Machinarium, DashBored, Vampire of the Sands, Darkwood, Card City Nights 2, Braid, Monolith, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, West Of Loathing, Gone Home, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles. Absorbed the /lite/ general some time ago and /jrpg/ is welcome.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in Veeky Forums), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

>Made it to bump limit
Nice.

We'll die tonight.

I love that gif. It always brings a smile to my face even if I feel like shit.

With one slot taken up for the muzzle brake, what should go in the other slot for a 7.62 Hornet optimized for bursts? Not sure if I should add a forward grip so my bursts hit more and do more damage in total, or smart module so each hit has a damage bonus, or maybe something else I haven't thought of.

I wish I had a game like that as a kid.

idk man. Grips usually work nicely in games, especially fps games, but I don't know which game your specifically talking about so I've never had the chance to autism the numbers.

In 100% of fps when you install a grip your character still holds it by the magazine or however they hold it without the grip

In most FPS, adding a grip allows better accuracy and less recoil.

Even if the character is still holding it without the grip.
Holding the magazine sounds retarded though.

graphically doesn't matter, what matters is stats

It's Underrail

>video games
>the video aspect doesnt matter
I bet you read VNs for the story

Not him, but I do. It's mandatory when you're trying to read Higurashi.

Definitely smart module. Smart targeting gives your bursts more damage than anything else including the muzzle brake. Foregrips are for SMGs, but if you want better long-range burst accuracy, you could swap the muzzle brake for barrel compensator.

What gaem?.

See

Oh now were back to being /urg/

Oh. I misunderstood and thought it was a FPS.

smart module if you have the electronics, forward grip if you don't

>not reading higurashi for the art

I'm not fond of boxing gloves.

i'm gonna box you right in the face

So I tried Oriental Empires, I got fucking rekt so badly I'm completely disheartened.

What lewd mods are there for Stardew Valley?

This is what combat looks like. Its in a carrier and those are drones. I don't know why the laser beams from the drones aren't showing up.

you shouldn't have given him the shekels

Do you have a direct influence on the fights, or do you just click?

Yeah, I know. I tried to develop too quickly and I neglected my military. I always do that in turn-based games.

I haven't found a specific reason to manually control my ship in combat beyond toggling my afterburner. This isn't the game for you if you want to pilot a spaceship. It's more like "hmm I seem to be taking some laser weapon damage... maybe I should train up my defenses more or install an anti-laser field" rather than "hmm I seem to be taking a lot of laser damage, maybe I should back up and fire from a greater distance to out range the lasers."

A shame, but I'll pass, then.
I still have Starpoint Gemini Warlords to play, now that Gaben stole my wallet with his -50% sale.

ravioli ravioli dont lewd the hat loli

Yeah that's the main reason why I originally said that its directed towards a very niche audience of autists. It's not the "its a space game thats complicated" its just more management/automation based than most people are looking for in a game. If you're not excited by outfitting ships and seeing an increase in performance for monotonous tasks you're going to have a bad time. I picked it up for $4 and it just happened to be my specific brand of autism.

There's like one let's play in existence and I wanted people here at least to have a good grasp of what they were getting into before they accidentally buy it thinking its starpoint gemini or elite dangerous. I'm having fun though.

Is ther anything else than portrait/sprite mods with huge boobs?

To be fair, if you had to click every time you want to shoot, it'd be pretty fucking annoying.

Still, it's the game of that game that could get a very nice Let's Play if you make it into a text LP and just mention the grinding instead of leaving it in or cutting it.

In that webm its autotargetting the enemies and auto moving to them as well.

>boot up sakeretsu

indie developers who try to make their games this retro need to be shot

I have a special hate for disappearing pickups.

and i have one for games that are released in the current decade yet control like they are from three decades prior. there isn't even an options menu, and there are 5 resolutions and one of them is literally the size of a gameboy screen. highest it goes is 800x600. why do developers do this? do they just not know how to make good games? if that's the case then they shouldn't bother.

i don't even like playing indie games anymore because all i see is retro garbage and vintage bullshit. the ones i want to play i don't have the money for because my utility bill has been through the roof due to the spring and summer heat. who the fuck decides the prices on these things? $15 is too much for a game that you just download and don't get any physical goods for. goddamn fiat currency.

They're trying to make games catering to nostalgic consolefags. That's why you have disappearing pickups.

Fucking hell, Doom is old as fuck and had persistent corpses and pickups. Nowadays, whenever a game features that, it's sold like fucking novelty.

nostalgia is poison.

What game and where can I get it for free?

True. It's a sweet poison that you believe is good, but actually, you're not having fun. It's a memory of fun.

File name.

The one where you fuck Vincent.
Some people were working on full sex animations and portraits

Name 5 games that do this

i have no memories of fun as a child, just memories of the abuse i got at home and the bullying i got at school. nostalgia works on people who had happy childhoods. i didn't. i'm glad i'm an adult and i get to play video games that weren't around when i was a kid. even the memories of games i played as a kid were tainted by the abuse from my brother, father and mother. nothing good happened as a child except me getting my first tulpas and me growing up and moving out after ending up on probation. even then it was still mostly hell until 2013, when i got my own place and no longer had to have roommates. i hate living with other humans for the most part. i've only ever had one good roommate, and he was a vietnam veteran who studied the kaballah and liked organic food and cigarettes.
no.

>tfw the average Doom WAD is 300% better than almost every indie retro shooter

>hat in time
>cat steals hat

Heckin mad

>i don't even like playing indie games anymore because all i see is retro garbage and vintage bullshit.
Damn, how fucking stupid do you have to be to actually have this opin-
>who the fuck decides the prices on these things? $15 is too much...
Oh. lmao

>nostalgia works on people who had happy childhoods
Not really. It works on happy memories. In fact, I suspect that people with crappy childhoods and just a few moments of happiness are more prone to get nostalgia. Something something about how being sad all the time makes the happy moments more memorable.
That's why I'll probably remember Sonic the Hedgehog till my death, this were the happiest memory I have.

The Moonman one is pretty shitty. Russian Overkill is pretty fun though.

Sorry you had a shit life but nobody here cares dude.

no, all the people i see who fawn over nostalgia are these privileged middle class shits who have never had to try for anything in their lives, vote democrat, and think socialism is the best thing since sliced bread. bunch of fucking lefty scum who need to be gassed.
i don't care. remove yourself from the collective gene pool.

What kind of socialism are we talking about? We have a bunch of socialists politicians in my country, but they're very mild compared to the american definition of socialist (who apparently is almost commie).

>whine whine whine
Yer paw should've hit you more, faggot.

You have two whole containment boards. Please go back.

>inbred hick concerned about the gene pool

pls dont bully the sadfag
he's entitled to be a cunt because he had difficult childhood unlike nobody else in the world :(((

grrrr lefty faggots
grrrr abusive family
grrrr /indie/ is surely the place for me to seek catharsis for these problems

Fuck off Jon

i only act like a cunt because you "people" act like one first. so don't be a cunt and i won't be one. understand?
know your place.

sadfags ruined /utg/ and will kill /indie/

Fuck off recluse

And /ksg/ too. The worst general to visit, you stay here five minutes and you already want to kill yourself.

>know your place.
You'd know all about being put in your place you little bitch.

what do you mean
you people

Except its right wing retards that have the most nostalgia over back when there werent so many non white people and such
The worst nostalgia fags are 80s nostalgiafags millenials who werent even alive or sapient in the 1980s.

Nostalgia ramped shitfests like A Hat in Time and CupSouls are literally everything wrong with late stage capitalism

Cuphead has nothing to do with nostalgia and everything to do with marketing hype. The overwhelming majority of its fanbase probably hasn't ever deliberately sat down to watch a cartoon from the era of animation to which the entire game is a supposed homage. They're also no run and gun enthusiasts. The only draw here is social momentum; they see other people purchase it and it looks okay and plays okay and that's sufficient reason for them to want to be in on the current thing. This is the pattern of higher budget indie gaming in general. Most people don't have an interest in any particular game and wouldn't be bothered to investigate into classics of any particular genre after being introduced to it through a hot release, they're only interested in whatever most recently commands the draw of their atrophied attention span.

This is why umtliplayer games are annoying.

I was hyper hyped for Absolver, but when it came out and I see how many Twitch faggots were playing it, I immediately dropped it. I'll have to wait a few more months for the hype to die before I can play it without being harassed by trolls and retards.

>Went Relic hunting in A Hat in Time
>Got literally everything the radar said I could except for Finale
>1 coin shy, but I hear you still can't get everything from the Prize machine
Guess I'm done for now until additional content.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Good post.

>The only draw here is social momentum; they see other people purchase it and it looks okay and plays okay and that's sufficient reason for them to want to be in on the current thing. This is the pattern of higher budget indie gaming in general
I wish there was a way to fix this human behavior.

>Absolver
Trust me when I say that the hype for that game is sufficiently dead.

Hat in Time question;
About to finish Chapter 2, right now penguin is winning, what happens if I go to the finale? Also can I unlock the Conductor or Detective outfits later?

Oh good, so I can play it now. Good to know.

>Outfits
No.
>finale
You'll need to go visit Subcon Forest for the Hookshot badge before you can actually do the finale if you haven't done so already.
Anyway, don't really worry about failing to 100% the game. Just claim your prize and it will all fall into place.

>>Outfits
>No.
Bummer
Yeah I Actually did all of Subcon first, I was kinda put off by chapter 2 thinking it'd be all "On the set" missions at first, coming back to it I was pleasantly surprised that it was far from that.

I wonder if I could cheat engine the outfits in sometime, they were so good too... Anyways, so there's no harm in finishing the chapter? Like, are there missables I guess is my biggest concern. I don't mind going back later, just don't wanna lock myself out of somethin' later.

No. Literally nothing in the game, presently, can be missed. You can always go back.
Also not sure, but I don't think you can crown a different winner, which locks you out of a bit of dialog, but nothing serious.

Funny thing is I did try to crown a different winner. As soon as the Conductor won, I tried to give Grooves the win by going back and doing better on the parade level. When the Conductor was still the winner I thought I had screwed myself out of a boss fight somehow, with me basing that opinion on an user describing the boss as a "secret". It wasn't until I tried to leave the room that it became apparent that the chapter wasn't quite over yet

It's depressing to see how many people play Earth Defense Force, be it 4.1 or Insect Armaggedon.

Yep.

You sound like a gigantic faggot.

Pretty much what said. A +/- 120 quality smart module results in +/- 50% more overall damage, much more than 2 bonus shots from the muzzle brake.

I actually dislike the entire "bonus damage but only on special attacks" mechanic since it takes advantage of the way abilities are implemented rather than how they work (bursts, rapid fire, point shot are not "precision attacks" for fucks sake) and in most cases it makes normal attacks underpowered as fuck.

What about Endless Sky, on Steam?

>Cuphead Dragon is easier on Expert than on Regular
What the actual fuck.
Who the fuck thought that reversing the direction of the clouds in Expert would be a good idea?

Haven worlds are becoming pretty fast.

Chaotic world half afk. Techtree fully unlocked but no whale choir this time.

Can you even find your home?

I don't know. I'm just a shark between worlds.

Sharks are too cute.

Halfway to S ranking Cuphead.

Shmup levels are an absolute pain in the ass to S rank (mainly because of the time limit, which forces you to do stupid shit constantly just to speed things up). I am dreading the shmup levels in world 3.

>You are a shark in the space between worlds.

>Something unseen says,
>"Can you find anyone else that journeys so frequently as you?"
No ;__;

>bawwww it's popular so I can't play it
what

>don't be a cunt and i won't be one
Check your privilege cis scum, you're a cunt already.

What a shitty bait. Next time, read the thread before posting, so you don't embarass yourself.

Nope, no (You) for the scrub. You gotta try harder if you want one.

Thank you for taking out the trash, janny.

Pretty much. There isn't really anything bad about she, she's just kind of boring when she has a compete with a giant mermaid, a cocky balloon woman, and old timey Princess Bubblegum.

I want Mr. Dice King as my tulpa!
