You can get a Sniper. The moment he becomes airborne he at least eats a 150 damage to the face.
Have a good Scout sweeping around possible dive points to engage Soldier and throw him off-balance mid-air.
All in all, your Medic should be able to surf the blast away.

Your med is only going to be able to surf away if the soldier shoots his feet. If he hits a good direct, your med is fucked. Sniping works if the map is good for snipers, too, though I wouldn't really want to dedicate an offclass purely to countering the bombing soldier, especially when bombing soldiers also happen to counter the sniper himself.

the first two were pretty easy for us but we lost last week's one because our so called maincaller mains highlander and can't into 6s so we were lacking coordination where we needed it
i guess they were also really good. we didn't get rolled, but it felt like they were screwing around just enough to tilt us and just little enough to still win
we scrim like every day but it's hard to judge how well somebody does until you face an actual challenge

Basically, yeah. A lot of people don't seem to realize even 3 damage pellets will fuck up a soldier's jump. It's also the other half of the reason everyone hates minisentries on Harvest.
