Why did ancient Mesopotamians, the first settled agrarian people, wear clothes? If it was due to decency, where'd they get the concept of decency from?

this is not /v/
fuck off

Mesopotamian weren't the first settled agrarian people and weren't the first ones to wear clothes either

Steps to answering your question:
1. Go outside, to your back yard, or somewhere else private where people won't disturb you
2. Strip naked.
3. Wait

Clothes are practical you moron. In hot climates they keep the sun from rendering your skin a red blanket of pain, and in cold climates they keep you from freezing to death. Humans don't have a specific environment they have to stick to, and this is specifically because of the fact that we have clothes.

Also Sumerians usually wore wool clothes like this

...

They didn't want to be cold

Human have worn clothes since the old stone age, firstly just loose furs, later sewing or tying furs together, later still weaving fabric out of wool or flax. This goes for settled humans and for nomads alike, if you live outside the tropical zone, you NEED clothes.

They
-offer protection against harsh weather (sun, cold)
-offer protection against physical harm (attacks, work-related injuries)
-alter the way people see you (status symbol)
-can conceal your body in a desirable way
-can be aesthetically pleasing
A dude who wears clothes will be better off than a naked dude in almost any environment and for almost any task, so there's a good reason why access to adequate clothing is considered a human right.

>-offer protection against physical harm
I read somewhere that clothing could be dangerous in fighting. Something to do with blood poisoning but not so sure about that.

This pretty much. We dont have fur.

it goes back further than Mesopotamia. humans have worn animal skins almost as long as they had tools, being naked in wilderness fucking sucks.

>if you live outside the tropical zone, you NEED clothes.
Lolno. Even if you live in the tropical zone, you still need clothes. Especially if you're a seafaring nomadic people
>Protection from sunburn.
>All those nice tropical plants and their itchy leaves.
>Jungles get real cold at night.
>Rain making everything cold. Monsoons especially.

>1 million years ago, proto humans running on a hunt
>oog running
>oog keep scratching wee wee
>maybe good idea oog cover penis with something
and thus clothes were born

fucking retard

Then why don't amazonians wear clothes?

Well, its the other way around, we don't have fur because we have clothes.

Sweltering rainforests are one of the few biomes where clothing is much more trouble than it's worth. Your clothing becomes sopping wet from ambient humidity and absorbs heat from your environment, making you more prone to overheating; similarly, the humidity means the nights are almost as hot as the days. There isn't much sunlight that goes through the canopy, meaning your skin doesn't need protection from UV and sunburn. Rain and other common sources of moisture actually tend to be warm in the tropics, and you can more effectively protect your skin from irritating plants and insects by covering it in mud, which also helps to keep you cool.

There's been genetic analysis done on clothing lice that show that they diverged from dick lice ( what is the correct English term for these btw?) at least 300 kya, possibly more. So the wearing of clothes are at least as old as our species, and probably older.

When a projectile hits you, they often tear and carry a piece of of your clothing into your wound. Since battlefield clothing is often dirty, it causes infection if left inside. The risk is mitigated if a surgeon manages to pinch the clothing out while they're removing the arrow, musketball, shrapnel etc.

pubic lice

slang term is "crabs" or for a more proper name

>dick lice
where they eating dick cheese

I too wish that everyone (all nubile females pleasing to the eye) run around naked in summer.

>I too
>I too wish
>all nubile females pleasing to the eye
>pleasing to the eye
