I got that annoying lair vault entrance vault with a lot of electric eels. I'm playing a mibe so naturally I do the stupidest thing I can think of, identify a wand of fire, dive down to train evo until 7, and go back to shoot them so the steam kills them. It worked

Are you new to the game? That's a unique monster. You should examine any you find by pressing x, selecting their tile, and pressing v

Yiuf is a gnoll with a guaranteed quarterstaff of chaos and cloak, so he's mostly known as the free cloak dispensary. He can be somewhat dangerous early on because the chaos-branded quarterstaff can trigger an elec-branded hit, slow you or generally fuck you up in ways you may not be prepared for

I forgot to mention that as per a few versions ago you can restore his sanity by seeing him again when you have the Orb or some shit like that. That's why his vault now has a runed door, for players who want to rescue him

It allows you to enrich the town's culture

Mechanically they don't do anything it's just for saving items you don't want to part with but which aren't worth storing

It's for putting interesting, but non-useful items, like your dragon wings which you reforged [T on as a non-berserker, or your RoS +10 with -10 to every other stat and life rating and AFC on it.
