Post-20 he shreds apart your whole team while having enough health (and ice block) to survive most shit that would kill a normal mage. Guy sits in the backline throwing shit but if you dive him 1v1 he wins the duel 9 times out of 10

That's not an answer, there are things you can't get around, such as your character not being able to self sustain or not being able to clear lanes.

Besides because the game doesn't has items you can't really adapt that well to different situations, at least not with a good portion of the cast.

Talents substitute well. In QM, nothing matters so the ability to carry there is meaningless. In ranked, you can carry if you can draft properly to the map/enemy and can outlay your opponents mechanically.

There's no secret to carrying, just got gudder.

No they don't, for the large majority of the characters talents only ever further specialize them in their niche. Not to mention the absurd number of talents that are simply useless.

It's not like on Dota where every character can buy a few items and suddenly they can heal teammates, self sustain, deal a shitload of damage, become invisible for a escape, or reset all cooldowns.

Honestly I like it better this way. Yeah it further specializes heroes but it also means you can't just buy waveclear or sustain or mobility or something to get rid of your weaknesses. If Blizzard wants the hero to have a weakness, you're not getting rid of it.

Tyrael doesn't need lower mana costs, he needs impactful abilities again. Imagine baseline Cast Aside and Hollowed Ground.

That becomes a crap shoot though. If you're great you can carry a match, if you're playing the carry. If someone else is, and they suck, or if the other team's carry is just plain better than you're still fucked. That's my biggest problem with those games. You have a carry and a team full of enablers who's only job is to get him fed so he can win. While the other 4 are important, it's only insofar as their ability to let the carry win for them. And by contrast if one person drops the ball and feeds him, or steals a kill from your carry not only do you have the same problem as Hots (one person hurting the team) but it's a far more significant problem that all but guarantees a loss.
