In V3, Maki's are pretty much entirely disconnected from what she talks about in the main story, to the point where it seems like a plothole. Miu's are funny but pretty shallow and as that other user said, lead to nowhere. Kaede's are apparently also not great.

ah, just found them. A helluva lot better and more interesting than what I had in mind. I mainly headcanoned a MM!Kaito as kinda incompetent but still somehow smart enough to keep the game going.
A dumb running gag I thought of is that all the murderers murder attempts all failed like with Kaede in the first chapter and Kaito has to bullshit his way into actually making the murder happen.

For me it was Kirumi (boring and not interesting), Miu (nothing about her character at all), Maki (way too informative), Kaede (it looked like a dating sim), Ouma (boring) and Kaito (boring).
Some other ftes like Gonta and yumeno's presents some problems but so far those are the ones I disliked the most .
Call them overreacting if you want but it was stupid of them to remove that rule about no murder in Ouma's motive video and then have Saihara cite it as a rule in the trial. There was no reason to do that and it comes across as inconsistent translation.

I am not into YGO and even I getting that classic reference, it wasn't really funny. I had the constant feeling that they had no idea what to write for Ouma's ftes so it ended up being a bit boring and a disappointment.

They also foreshadow how he actually plays the killing game and a lot of plot points concerning the choices the rest of the cast makes. The final one in particular. Everything about them is clearer in retrospect.
IIRC V3 is the biggest game NISA has done to date in terms of text. Getting one translator to do it all would make the translation take a lot longer.

I guess then that I found his character and relationship with saihara uninteresting aside of his role in the story if that's the case. I got that point since all of his ftes are him playing games with saihara but I had that feeling mainly because of saihara's reactions to Ouma, specially the first one where he feels so lost in how to handle a conversation with him.
