Also, if you hit the withdraw button on a hard mode map to bail out of it without killing the boss, you effectively lose nothing and it doesn't use a hard mode run for the day. The hard mode runs counter only goes down on a boss kill.

And you need to be spending your oil levelling your actual commander level.

Both of those statements are false.
Only the boss node will drop retrofit blueprints.
And there has been no demonstrable "proof" that hard mode has a higher drop rate.
The only difference is that hard mode gives higher player XP and a higher gold payout per battle. It'll even give the same amount of XP to ships as normal mode.
It's also +20 levels higher than the normal mode counterpart and has a restricted comp, costing more oil overall. So I'm not sure why the devs would give a shit.

While i'm just leveling my favorites and whoever looks cute, there's people examining the formulas for damage to see what equips are the best and what team comp will allow you to destroy everyone in PVP.

And even with anecdotal drop rate increase in mind; it's still a restricted comp and a likely higher oil cost/battle, which again I don't think the devs are going to care much about giving you a slight boost to compensate.

No. You can also get SSR boat expeditions once you get to like captain level 90.

Just use another fleet, or try it without ammo. But without ammo you do half the damage so its not that easy
