Can we have a guild wars 2 thread?

>inb4 make this thread on Veeky Forums
You literally can't. There is a bot that spams every /gw2g/ thread with reposts from other boards and the mods don't seem to care

Remember to eat your greens

>want to do raid
>build sites telling me to go full viper's
>completely missed LS3, so only option to get viper's trinkets other than the one selectable amulet is pvp or wvw

What the fuck is this shit?

Just get sinister instead.

You can still buy the trinkets from the maps - you just need unbound magic.

....unless you didn't unlock the content. Umm...... I still think there's a way to access the maps!

It turns out I also missed parts of LS2, so I can get only one sinister ring from bandit crests, one accessory from LS2 E8 achievements, and looks like I'm going back to the good ol' fucking Citadel of Flame, because the only way to get a second sinister accessory is to complete the collection achievement for it and get every single weapon and armor skin.

The passage for unlocking every unbound magic map looks like this in the wiki:

>Step 1: Complete the first step of this LS3 episode. Alternatively, fuck off

Its been so long since i played..i remember completing the explore 100% of the map thing and i fucked off.

Fuck off shill, back to

Halloween event starts in 2 days.

I think I found the sparkliest cat in the game.

Is there even anything we can do about the spambot. I miss /gw2g/.

You can jewelcraft exotic viper's trinkets.

You'd be better off just spending the 80-90 gold to get the gems to buy two ls3 maps. You'll be needing much more from them in the future.

Can someone explain the point of GW2 to me please?

I found this:

>In GW2, rewards for completing content are goal-agnostic. Any content you do will contribute a little bit toward whatever goal you wish. Rewards are entirely cosmetic and will not affect your combat stats. Characters that were geared in 2013 and left untouched since then are still very much as relevant as a character geared right now and played constantly. For many people this is boring and results in content feeling unrewarding and equipment feeling uninvolved. For other people it feels more organic and stress free and allows them to feel like they're not being left out when they take a break.

>GW2 has grinds like any MMO, but you can come and go as you please. In the process of leveling to max level (which hasn't changed since release) you should make enough to get a full set of exotic gear off the trading post. The best gear in the game, Ascended gear, has 5% better stats but is more difficult to come by. You'll want it eventually but it's not like some games where you start with basically worthless gear at max level. The pve endgame consists of raids, fractals (basically dungeons) and open world events like bosses and zone wide "meta" events where players across the entire zone work together to complete goals.

So basically you get nothing substantial from PvP or PvE or raids or anything...? What's the point of doing anything in the game after max level then?

fashion u loser

Always amuses me when people say "fashion wars" in GW2. The art direction for the armors and clothes suck, and I'd sooner die than see all the cancerous rainbow wings and neon hair shit. People rag on asian MMOs for breaking immersion with their cash shop shit, but GW2 is actually worse.

What is your definition of substantial? There is no gear treadmill. The ascended gear tier is the highest as you can go with stat numbers and it will take a while to get a full set but after that you're done. Unless you want to swap to a different stat set or gear an alt. The rest is all rare expensive skins and collections that reward unique skins.

Whats the point of WoW? Whats the point of Everquest? Whats the point of Everquest 2? Whats the point of the The Elder Scrolls Online? Whats the point of Final Fantasy XIV?

And for that matter, whats the point of Skyrim?

Answer those questions, and then I can tell you the point of Guild Wars 2.

I'm only playing it for the jumping puzzles.

Huh. Don't know why I hadn't thought of that. Guess I'd still have the same problem for fractals, though. And now I have the issue of needing to scrounge up more gold for more fucking black diamonds holy shit.

>What's the point of doing anything in the game after max level then?
It's the same shit as other online games, you either enjoy what you're doing or you want to make your e-peen huge. They just took out the part where huge e-peen means you deal 10% more damage.

Malicious Chinese (you) farmer detected.

Don't bother with crafting viper exotics you'd be much better off just buying LS3-1 and LS3-3 with that gold.

>The art direction for the armors and clothes suck, and I'd sooner die than see all the cancerous rainbow wings and neon hair shit.
I am very interested in customizing my character, but unfortunately from what I've seen of GW2 characters (in post your character threads on leddit) it's more like Second Life than a MMO with consistent art direction. I want to make badass looking characters, not flying faggots.

Well, in all of those you kill shit to get equipment that actually does something. In GW2 apparently you kill shit and get shit that does nothing.

Especially PvP rewards seem idiotic, since you don't even get PvP gear or anything for it, because of the "gear unification" and all gear being the same in PvP zones... what the fuck.

I think the PVP is fun. I get with my group of 9 other people and go zerg smashing in WvW. Its the only fun i can find in MMOs these days.

>Group of 70+ running toward us
>Buff up and get in formation
>run around the outskirts of their zerg picking people off while spamming AOE inside
>Run out of their range and heal and rebuff
>repeat until their zerg starts to panic and lose coordination
>go full offense and smash their zerg one last time
>enemy scatters. We pick off the remenants
>regroup, the ground around us covered in bodies.
>get whispers from people raging/wanting to join us

The one thing they did right. You can actually do this against smaller groups as a solo thief too but im not good enough at that. looks fun though.

What do I do now that I've beat the story missions of PoF on my main?
I only have 50 gold to my name

Sexsuras

You might be right. Fuck.

I'll sleep on it.

the real challenge is to find armor pieces that go well together and don't look like shit
I'm with you on neon hair and wings, shit made me mad at the time, I kinda accepted it, not like I can do anything about it

Finish the collection for your ascended backpiece and elite spec weapon.

Fuck no I'd rather have a consistent cap than endless carrots dangling in my face with no end in sight. And most people don't even have ascended armor and weapons yet because it's expensive to craft that armor and even if they do there's alts to gear and alternative stats to get so if you want you can still be spending most of your money from loots to get more stats.

where are you hiding my asuran porn i cant find any of it

>and all gear being the same in PvP zones
If PvP is supposed to be a competition of player skill and not who raided the most, why wouldn't you want this? It's not like all stat combinations are the same for every player.

And WvW uses your regular gear anyway.

>customizing is a challenge
That's not really why I play dress up
In fact having less good looking options defeats the purpose of playing dress up

This thread seems a little dead but I'll ask anyway, does anybody know how many mounts there are in the game? I own both the expansions.

Raptor, bunny, manta ray, sand dog and griffon
The glider too if you count that as a mount

what's the poster say /v/?

>Is this the face you want to see when your daughter brings home her boyfriend?

I started getting annoyed at everything in this game. Is this time to uninstall, it's not like I bought expac in the first place.

Can I be a paladin in this game?

Okay sweet, that's quite a few. I'm actually really digging this expansion so far.

>If PvP is supposed to be a competition of player skill and not who raided the most, why wouldn't you want this?
I want PvP equipment as rewards for PvP, not for PvE. Where's the problem?

Is this game worth getting into? I don't want to level a character all the way to max if these are the only few expansions they're going to put out. Reckon there'll be more and they might even up the level cap or nah?

There's like a holy knight type class, although I've just been rocking warrior, haven't touched another class yet. I might look into it soon though seen as I have one of those boosts.

I think I misunderstood your complaint as being about stats. I'm not sure I follow you. The game already has exclusive skins only available from structured PvP.

They're not upping level cap. Leveling in this game is a fucking chore.

In its own way, that's kind of impressive

They're very unlikely to increase the level cap, but they've been good about supporting the game and adding new shit to it. Living Story season 4 is already confirmed in development so new stuff is certainly coming.

Well, in all of those you kill shit to get equipment that actually does something.

Fair enough. Try to think of it this way then. In GW2, you kill shit to learn new abilities. Learn how to glide. Or learn how to bounce from mushrooms. Learn how to make legendary weapons (if you want a weapon that can change stats) Thats for PvE. In WvW, as you kill, you'll be able to have access to more WvW skills: basically, sue catapults or trebs better than others.

As some people describe it, its horizontal progression.

And the gear grind is ther e- its ascended armor/weapons you're vying for. Its optional - you can get exotics, the bare minimum, fairly easy, but if you want to fare well in WvW, ascended is a good investment

>Especially PvP rewards seem idiotic, since you don't even get PvP gear or anything for it, because of the "gear unification" and all gear being the same in PvP zones... what the fuck.

PvP is more about fashion. If you want PvP where gear matters: WvW.

The idea behind GW2, I find, is to try everything.

>In GW2 apparently you kill shit and get shit that does nothing.
They took to an extreme one of the aspects of GW1. Level cap was 20 so you hit it before finishing half the campaign (or the tutorial area in the case of Factions) and the stats for the gear you wanted were relatively easy to find so it was all about fashion. To that end, in GW2 everything amounts to the goal of having what you regard as being the prettiest kit to wear. In GW1 you'd typically hang around end game areas like UW or FoW (which were fun) in order to build up your funds and make your equipment or guild hall cooler. GW2 is just more of that.

I WANT REAL THINGS not fucking skins. Jesus what's so hard to understand.

>In WvW, as you kill, you'll be able to have access to more WvW skills: basically, sue catapults or trebs better than others.
Guess what, other MMOs have this IN ADDITION to real things otherwise.

There is the guardian but his meta builds are all about DPS. You could play an off meta protection hammer guardian if you don't want to get into raids or high level fractals.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this development team might have a lot of females, trannies, faggots, and other assorted SJWs who hate actual MMOs and probably video games altogether. How can I check this?

There is no gear progression treadmill. If you want that then the game is not for you.

Something fucked up, and there's like 12 GW2 threads on Veeky Forums if any mod is bored.

Do other MMOs have 100 vs 100 vs 100 unique player fights?

I'm talking Planetside type fights.

>I WANT REAL THINGS not fucking skins. Jesus what's so hard to understand.

Oh, so it was about stats. You're saying you want to be able to earn gear with better PvP stats, right? Let me rephrase the question, then:

If PvP is supposed to be about player skill and nothing else, why would you give someone a direct advantage simply because they had already been playing for longer?

Why the fuck are half of the posts on leddit about getting some backpack then? What is this backpack?

for me it just sounds like that

>wahh wahh i want to get into pvp and get bashed without a chance for 1 month straight until i have the same gear as everyone else so i can start having fun in pvp

i mean i can understand its hits or miss in pve without a gear treadmill, but pvp gear treadmill? fuck no, thats one of the worst things you can have

>>If PvP is supposed to be about player skill and nothing else, why would you give someone a direct advantage simply because they had already been playing for longer?
Because there's no point in playing otherwise, moron? And who the fuck says it's supposed to be about player skill and nothing else?

I assume they're talking about the PoF collection backpacks. They're not better than the existing ascended backpacks.

only in pve, in pvp you can play bunker (tanky) firebrand, support firebrand or DPS Dragonhunter

So the only reason why you play a game is for the gear treadmill?

>literally cannot play a game for the sake of fun without having a gear carrot dangled in front of his face
The problem isn't the game, it's you.

Why would you even have a game then, why don't you just click on a pair of dice, also both are winners yay 5 gold stars for everyone kindergarten tier shitfest.

>There's no point to playing a competitive game unless you can gain stat advantages over other players simply for having played longer

Games like Street Fighter and Counter-Strike must confuse the fuck out of you.

Yes, the only reason why I play a MMO is 99% of what a MMO consists of, IMAGINE THAT WHAT A SHOCKER OMG LOL WTF BBQ ???!
What exactly is fun about it?

>Because there's no point in playing otherwise, moron?

i guess you never played a PvP game before, right? because in your own logic, whats the point playing games like CSGO/Quake/Overwatch if you dont get better gear, right?

Are those persistent world MMOs? Oh right I forgot, GW2 is an instanced lobby fake MMO, gotcha.

Not every MMO is a WoWclone you tard.

are you be any chance autistic? genuine question, because you sound like an autistic fuck, holy shit

if "better gear" is the only reason for you the even touch a game, a have bad news for you: you are either trolling or are severe mentally damaged, doesnt matter which one, but you should seriously consider killing yourself

Tell me one other "MMO" without gear progression.

Ultima Online had it, SWG had it, guess they were also WoW clones, imbecile?

I played originally near launch. Hows the game compare to back then? Are the expansions good?

Do you know what "MMO" stands for? Because Gear Progression doesn't start with M or O.

GW2 doesn't sound like the game for you then.

Coming to think of it, why don't you play Disgaea?

They paraded around the fact that one of their lead writers wanted to cut short her interview to work there because she had a WoW raid to get back to, if that means anything.

>Trust a charr
>Get the scar!

even in wow there is a no real gear threadmill anymore in PvP
but
>WoW PvP

>instanced lobby fake MMO
i see, so you never even tried playing gw2

You may only reply to this post if you're a proud owner of a griffon.

Because anime is for perverts and children?

Do you know what RPG stands for? Oh right you're twelve so you don't even know that this was ever part of the name.

>every RPG has a gear treadmill
You're digging your hole even deeper

not him but
>RPG
its for roleplaying game
now tell me where in "roleplaying game" it says "gear threadmill"

There're quite few devs playing ffxiv.

this game has cute fhds

Can't play with fhd anymore, because of VA getting worse every time I hear her.

Name some that don't.
It's a D&D simulation, mongoloid.

What part of D&D says it required gear progression?

Femcharr's voice, on the other hand, has picked way up since HoT
And thank god for that, it's actually fappable again

>Name some that don't.

Warcraft 3. Its a RPG/RTS hybrid. You can get items that give your hero units an advantage, but thats not "gear"

Deus Ex. Yes you can get better weapons, but thats not the aim of the game - the aim of the game is to improve your skills - on top of solving the conspiracy of the game and finding three of the endings. Its a shooter AND a role playing game

Also, by your definition, Age of Empires 3 would be an RPG since there is a gear treadmill for Home Cities

>It's a D&D simulation, mongoloid.
>all RPGs are D&D derivatives

I want this myth to die.

Honestly they should drop voice acting for player characters. There's nothing more immersion breaking than hearing your character speak especially when voice acting is bad.

Every singleplayer rpg that has a level cap with leveled loot or non-randomized gear.
You don't seem to understand the difference between gear progression and gear treadmill.

you are retarded beyond belief
RPG stands for roleplayinggame, it means that you can make your own character, costumize them and do your own decisions by some extend

"name some that dont"
mass effect 2/3 are RPG where you can get different gear, but arent better or worse then the one you have, just different stats (just like in gw2)
its probably the same in andromeda, but ive never played it
in dark souls there is only a gear threadmill by some extent, after some time you only get different gear and weapons, who arent exactly better or worse, just more options to costumize your stats and playstyle

So a RTS and a FPS, holy shit you're an actual real life waterhead.

Oh I see, so GW2 has PvP gear "progression" through PvP then?

>mass effect 2/3 are RPG
Stop trolling please.

>Stop trolling please.
store.steampowered.com/app/24980/Mass_Effect_2/
>Genre: RPG

Use gold to buy gems to get the chapters, it's what I done and it's entirely cheap in retrospect.

>one game mode focused on player competition and skill alone does not have gear progression
>therefore, GW2 is a fake MMORPG

You are a very silly person.

Oh so PvE has gear progression?

games for furrys /fags who want to look goofy with cosmetics

Certainly. As you level, your lower-level gear has to be replaced with new gear to keep up. There are also multiple tiers of level 80 gear, with a full set of ascended gear being quite time intensive to obtain.
