I'm about to start New Game + with my Pyromancer character.
What should I level up/respec before I restart?

STOP
PLAYING
STR

does the entire ariandel chapel (even the floor with the painter) always catch on fire after killing friede? i don't remember this happening when i first played it

Get some real int/fai if you want to deal damage. get some vigor and endurance if you enjoy being alive.

99 luck
drop everything keep 1 weapon if you are a colossal pussy

If you are going to keep going into NG+ then just level whatever, it's not like this shit matters for PvE, if you want a fun challenge start the game "fresh" by dumping your stats into a pointless stat like luck

Drop Str/Dex down to 15/17 so that you can wield Parting Flame and Witch's Locks, maximum. Drop Attunement down to 26. Then bump up Int/Fai to 40/40 and put the rest into Vigor/End.

Also, what starting class is that, I only just noticed that you have way too much Vit and Luck. You should never level Luck unless you're doing a Hollow build, and don't level Vit unless you're planning to wield a greatsword or bigger.

Pyromancer.

in pve bleed luck builds are actually doing bretty good and can melt down bosses with no problem

Which DS3 boss souls are better consumed than Transpositioned?

Depends on your build nigga.
None, it's not like souls are hard to grind or that boss souls give a proportionally large amount for where in the game you get them

Then drop Vitality and Luck down to base levels too, you don't need either of those.

Here's a "luxury" Pyro build that splurges on Str/Dex, at the cost of some Vigor. If you don't care about Parting Flame, Witch's Locks or Demon's scar, you can drop it down to 14/12 and be done with it, but that leaves you literally with Onyx Blade.

Looking to start a new shield based character. What are some good 1h strength weapons preferably quick and thrust damage or high stability/poise damage to beat through shields.

Thinking maybe;
>Grand Lance
>Milkweed Axe
>Dark Sword
>Lothric Spear
>Estoc
>Warpick
>Mace
>ringed knight sword/spear
>bastard sword

Thank you.
is SL125 still within the current meta?

All of them

>125

stop walking in my swings

SL120 and SL125 are both acceptable, moreso for casters that are starved for levels. If you're willing to lock a ring slot for PChain you can drop down to SL120 and get more Vigor/Endurance.

It happens when you proceed into TRC. Not sure which specific point, maybe when you enter the city proper after Demon Princes.

The only one that's unarguably shit is Aldrich's, because both Darkmoon Longbow and Lifehunt Scythe suck. Possibly Soul of a Demon since nobody really loves the greataxe and the fists are fists; they're fun, but not viable.

...

>moreso for casters that are starved for levels

You keep saying this but every build posted where you say this is horrible.

Manserpent axe and shotel pierce shields I believe.

>ds2 has such moveset variety
>pick up long sword
>vertical swing
>pick up greatsword, dagger, curved sword, mace
>EXACT same vertical swing with EXACT same animation

What ways does DS3 improve over DS1?

>greatswords and daggers have the same animations
Ok.

>casters are required to blow an assload more points onto casting stats than in DaS2, which had a much higher SL meta
>not being starved for levels
It's like you don't even play the games.

Poise and back stabs

Except that isn't true, especially for the mace.

>casting stats than in DaS2

What does this have to do with anything? Just post a DS3 build and I bet everyone can fix it so it's 120.

Why do you fags keep trying to constantly push the meta higher and higher?

>people actually think that souls pvp is fun
I don't get this. It's always just a jump-jump roll-roll gayfest.
PvE is the only thing these games are really good for.

Why is this soooo long?

Because you failed to read the part about "caster builds." If you're doing a melee build then it's easy to stay at/under SL120, but the second you try to go for 60 Int or 60 Fai or 40/40, it becomes a struggle to have enough HP, FP and stamina while simultaneously having access to a not-shit amount of weapons.

The SL meta on PS4 is already 125 anyways. It's just by common agreement that nobody decides to go to 130 or higher on any of the platforms.

>casters that are starved for levels
Not particularly, actually. Once they hit their damage softcap(s) along with att and some end, casters can only level hp (or str/dex but that's an even worse idea). BUT each level of hp a caster levels is much less worth than anything a melee build levels at that point, as long as they're not in 2shot-by-ss range. You think you make casters more viable by giving them more hp, but in truth you only make melee builds much harder to kill while they can kill you just as easily.
Unless if you don't want to play a caster but a spellsword. In that case you are kind of starved as you do need some stats beyond damage/att/end. The answer is simple. Stay at lower int/fai (besides infusions cap lower than spells do) and use spells to condition your opponent rather than directly damage him. Then you need much less att and int and/or fai.
You probably need to remind yourself that the game is first and foremost balanced for pve and its online aspects (coop and invasions). Not honorabru duerus
Because you have ADHD

Which Dark Souls game have you played the most, and what keeps you coming back?

DaS3 is the game with the most hours clocked on it currently, peaking at 746hrs. It's the game that's the most active, so I just spend all my time invading. Invading is fun and no other games offer me the experience of just barging into another player's single player world and fucking shit up.

Then post a build and let's see how everyone can shave it down to 120. Another thing is why do you think a class/build that is focused on ranged damage should have just as much stamina, health, and melee options as a class focused on melee?

Name me any multiplayer games or RPGs where the mage or range focused classes have just as much melee stats and health as the frontline fighter characters.

If the royalty of the Ringed City is supposed to be the first few Pygmies that first shared the dark soul of mankind, then what the fuck does that makes Manus?

1 but because it had the lead. I enjoy ds3 the most. Mainly the activity, relatively less lag and WEAPON ARTS. If ds1 had better online (both in activity and netcode), WAs and with a few minor mechanical tweaks it would be the perfect game

If the pilgrims of londor are all hollow/undead, how come so many god damn pilgrims are dead outside lothric castle and why is Yoel begging for death when we find him?

Also what reason do the homo princes have for letting the age of MAN happen when they very clearly are gods?

You do realize undead things trying to die and stay dead has been a plot point since 1 right?

most hours in softs
although DaS hours are catching up
burned out of ds3 very quickly unfortunately

Manus was just an old human who had a strong Dark Soul because of his powerful emotions. The White Birch Bow description could imply he was a former sorcerer of Oolacile.

I am aware. But how they do that?

>If ds1 had better online (both in activity and netcode), WAs and with a few minor mechanical tweaks it would be the perfect game

How would you improve DS1

The same way anyone does anything
Plot holes

A build focused on casting will never have as many melee options as a build focused on melee. But casters still need to level stamina because casting spells requires stamina and occasionally swing a melee weapon. And not having at least 35 Vigor on any build is a literal meme because the only way to reliably keep away from melee combat as a caster is if you're some host's buttbuddy in a gank squad.

And for the record, I don't have any SL125 builds on any of my characters, but with how fucking stringy I've gotten with my caster builds, I would not blame anybody who did go to SL125.

Fucking hell. From really fucking sucks at keeping their lore consistent.

Just because my character has caster stats does not mean I should be forced into playing from range. If I want to go into melee range with my Hysel Pick or Crucifix of the Madman then that's my choice to make and my play style. Plus I want maximum ranged damage to mix it up.

They stopped giving a shit from the word go
>kill the obviously undead merchant once and he just goes hollow despite already being hollow

Correction: Miyazaki fucking sucks at keeping his lore consistent. The shitshow that is DaS2 you can blame on Shibuya and then Tanimura having to literally pull a miracle out of his ass to ship the game, but everything else is due to Miyazaki's love for "headcanon your own story" because he literally could not understand English as a child.

Shut the fuck up and post a "Caster" build that absolutely requires 125. Do that or shut the fuck up with your constant shilling of a higher SL meta.

>dark souls 2 bows have a melee attack

So you know how there are hollow skellies that burst into that black goo? That's what they were trying to avoid, and I guess coming in contact with the first flame in Lothric would allow them to die permanently, instead of becoming Abyss serpent things.

Mostly DS3, mainly because despite knowing it's PVP is utter shit, it keeps dragging me back like a heroin addict to a drug den.
However I am starting to pile on more hours into SotFS, which is considerably more fun than DS3 in my opinion.

>Just because my character has caster stats does not mean I should be forced into playing from range
>my wizard shouldn't be forced to cast magic

See your problem? That's not a caster, that's a spellsword
>If the pilgrims of londor are all hollow/undead, how come so many god damn pilgrims are dead outside lothric castle and why is Yoel begging for death when we find him?
It's probably related with the appearance of pilgrim butterflies, which seem to be a more fucked up version of the angels. Some kind of invasion probably
>Also what reason do the homo princes have for letting the age of MAN happen when they very clearly are gods?
They're clearly not. They're resistant as fuck to dark and lorian is weak to lightning too (although this might be due to wearing metal armor)
Another pygmy. He fucked off and went to Oolacile. In his arena you can actually see his tomb and it's human sized, he hasn't always been that gorilla-deer-man
>segregate stamina and equip load
>mix of ds1 poise and ds3 hyperarmor (and a fucking gauge for it in the HUD, one of the most important factors to attacking being kept hidden is simply stupid)
>berries being able to invade sinners as long as they are human OR the boss is alive, not AND (and maybe shave a few levels off the downwards range to compensate)
>phantoms' weapons and armor levels being scaled down to the host's max
Probably more but I'm sleepy and tired
Yeah, that's what I'm telling you, you're making a spellsword. Spellsword mixes playstyles and can switch things up with the tradeoff that he's weaker at each aspect than the dedicated class. Jack of all trades but master of none

Gods, this is a long post

>That's not a caster, that's a spellsword
you NEED stamina and a moderate amount of HP. those aren't "warrior stats".

>Yeah sure that makes sense, as the only confirmed way to die is to flame up in the kiln. But doesnt that also fuel the flame? That would be counter-productive, giving their religion and whatnot.

...

>the only confirmed way to die is to flame up in the kiln
It's literally not though. The very definition of an Unkindled, which you play as, is someone who attempts to link the First Flame but isn't strong enough and is burned to ashes instead.

youtube.com/watch?v=D2aSY5lXWtg

Fucking hell, you're right. so HOW are they dead then?

A cat is fine too.

So what caused Manus to wake up?

I'm really not too sure since I literally just beat TRC a couple hours ago, but I think they were hoping to usurp the flame/witness the usurping? That's why Yoel seizured from excitement and died when you became capable of being Lord of Hollows.

I dunno, this game's plot was all over the place. I still don't understand what Filianore's timeskip was portraying (Age of Man after the usurping of the flame?)

The people of Oolacile dug him up at the behest of one of the primordial serpents.

it would be cool if you could level up when you meet herald in the world
or is she an illusion

I am not the same user, but in PS4 every serious duelfag is already 125. I only know of one person who isn't. No idea about the average arena / pontiff player though because it's console and you can't monitor their SL. Going past 125 is seen very badly, though. I have a 130 character because I forgot to buy Yuria's tome in regular NG and I barely use it because it maked me feel dirty.

>you NEED stamina
yes, some
> and a moderate amount of HP
Or you could stay the fuck away. If you're going to be a cannon, you're going to be fragile. That's what balance is
I'm pretty sure that's only true for Way of White clerics. I don't think the black goo is spontaneous, it could be an effort to bring back dragons. AH explores this a bit around the start here youtube.com/watch?v=ZtCatMbs5kU&
I think "seabeds for spreading darkness" refers to the pilgrim butterflies. Now you'd ask why the pilgrims would not want to become butterflies brings it back to their whole deal being an invasions of sorts (consider how they are looking towards Lothric from the broken bridge in the settlement, how one on the bridge managed to go across before it collapsed but met a closed gate and how there is a demon guarding past that) and the pilgrims are basically time-bombs. They wore the turtleshell to avoid hatching before they got to lothric
It's kind of weird though and WoW could be connected with Londor and the pilgrims. The ringed city clerics have themes and elements of both.
Kaathe or some other jew serpent (there are like 10 of them and they all have silly names like that) convinced to upturn his grave for dem joosy manatees. Problem is, this woke him and also lost half of pendant (or at least notified him of its absence) that meant the world to him and he went apeshit

Not get fucked by fate or something.
Live a fulfilling life is probably the closest to answer, most undead are people trying to cling to a goal/role they had before dying, so if you honestly truly had no issues with dying you wouldn't become undead.

But that's reading into it waaaay too hard

>she stalks you around the world and meets you at important areas to further you along your quest
Truly the best waifu.

The problem is that you can't even be a proper cannon in DaS3 without locking three of your four ring slots (and in the case of a sorcerer, your off-hand and head slots too). Because casting in general is utterly fucked in this game.

The pitch is off.

>you can't even be a proper cannon in DaS3 without locking three of your four ring slots (and in the case of a sorcerer, your off-hand and head slots too)
how exactly is this a "problem"

>i want my caster to be great at everything and not just spells

it would be cooler if you could peek under shanalotte's skirt to see what kind of panties she wears

what the fuck is this webm

how is only one build being useful for any mage type a problem?

gee idk

Shit editing, that's what. The enemy's attack hitbox came out before the attack.

my brother just text me that he is playong das3 and said that he thought it had the most hidden bosses, but i think each dark souls game has 4, right?

das
>stray demon
>gwyndolin
> priscilla
>kalameet

das2
>darklurker
>tale of two kitties
>gargoyles
>aldia

das3
>nameless
>midir
>ancient wyvern
>the champ

any i am forgetting, or are some of these not hidden bosses?

You literally can though.

cute

Casting in 3 is solely being a spellsword. Even the best casters end up doing more damage with their crystal longswords than with their spells. Spells in this game are basically a setup to annoy and apply pressure at range and bait people into melee swings. Even pure sorcerers start using Farron Flashsword up close, and they aren't that good anyways. The only game with decent pure sorcery was DaS2. In 1 it was all about being laggy and trying to land Dark Bead.

Are you counting DLC?

>user gets surprise killed by a css
>comes to /dsg/ to make sure casters don't level enough vig to not be one shot by a straight sword or enough end to be able to roll after a farron dart

Name me any multiplayer games or RPGs where the mage or range focused classes have just as much melee stats and health as the frontline fighter characters.

>tale of two kitties
If you count him you should probably also count
>alonne
>blue smelter
and
>gank squad

Honestly though I'd really only consider Darklurker to be a secret boss since getting to him is part of a covenant sidequest. By the same logic I'd explude kalameet from 1's list since you get his fight by just walking into the arena.

baited for this EXACT response

yes, but not as hidden for just being in the dlc

See

Guild Wars 2. But it's shit, tho you can roll there.

Notice the abyssdude's sword. The webm is at 5% speed to more easily show the bullshit
How is it indeed? I'd like you to explain me. If only one or two spells are useful, that is a problem. If a headpiece is necessary, it is a problem (although I personally never felt pressed to use it) even if just with fashion. I don't see how a mage needing to remove a damage ring to equip for example silvercat or obscurring is worse than a melee build removing life that could cost him hp, havel that could make him fatroll or chain/fap that could do both
I'm using webm for retards. What should I be using instead? I only ever make vids to post here

Post more emerald

What do you define as hidden? Because if it's just "not directly in the way" then the list should be much longer

>By the same logic I'd explude kalameet from 1's list since you get his fight by just walking into the arena.
No, you only get his fight after Gough hits him.

>have just as much melee stats
You literally don't even in DaS3. I don't know where you're getting this meme from. And health isn't a "frontline fighter" stat because there is literally no way to stay away from the frontline as a caster in DaS3, if you're far enough away from the other guy to not get hit by his melee attacks then he can reaction-dodge literally all of your attacks.

tell me about Yuria
Why does she wear the fancy dress

You can bow cheese him, I see where you are coming from but still can't count a boss who you meet by just walking down a path a secret, same reason I wouldn't count gargoyles in 2 as a hidden fight

BEAR SICK SICK LEST
