In my experience, the easiest and fastest way to gain Ostron reputation is to hit the freshwater pools at night for a shit ton of Lungfish.

go to cetus - earth and cross the big gate, ask the old man for a bounty while you're at it.
Progression is as always, max all the rifle or shotgun mods and get a soma prime/tigris prime/hek and you can then kill whatever you want. Grind prime parts for plat like it always worked.

You can't unlock the tater until you unlock most planets and the non tater stuff is pretty much self contained so you can do it whenever you want, it doesn't matter

What's so good about Atterax and Galatine Prime?

play cetus on the lower tiers if you just want fun, but know that you won't be getting anything good out of it if you don't spend dozens of hour grinding (and even then it's debatable)
If you want to get better stuff and/or get shit done,go unlock the starchart, it'll give you plenty of stuff and you'll get a better understanding of the game that way
