There's an xp bonus if you win. It's hard to lose on junk normal unless your team goes full retard.

Yes. That's pretty much how overwatch goes, it's supposed to be campy and light in artstyle but really the gameplay is just a visual clusterfuck. It's yet another hurdle of blizzard's incompetent design to jump over, either adjust or get fucked because that's what all the top500s are doing.
