I've never seen anyone fly the 747 mission from JA in a really exciting way, to be honest.
Lucas Brooks
When I hear S-ducts I instantly think of F1.
Alexander Miller
you sorta cant, its a massive plane with shit speed, shit mobility and is shit overall the only time any enjoyment comes out of it is when you have friends providing support and only they get fun out of it
Jaxson Lee
I still have to replay that at some point. I have no memories of it
Josiah Rogers
Should've made it a Concorde so people could reenact that scene from that movie where the pilot leans out the window to check for incomming missiles at crusing speeds
Logan Mitchell
It would've been fun if there was another 747 mission that wasn't a tunnel run. Just evading flak via stall drops.
Here's some design autism for this evening. I'm still trying to figure out the rest. Note that this is just the rough blocks, none of the "details" are final.
Joseph Morris
>lots of holes, bulbs and a gunpod Checks out
Looks good though, I think the arms are pretty neat like that
Angel Harris
They're SV-51-like with changes in the shoulder articulations because I wanted the engines to be closer together. Figuring out the sort of chest construction I want is a pain, so many attractive options...
Andrew Reed
I always liked the VF1 and 0 ones where it just folds down and hides the cockpit behind some shield even if it looks a bit clunky
Or the YF19's where the nose retracts and becomes the chest. Though I got no clue how that works spacially
Gabriel Williams

I wish there was a VF-25 and later version of this.
Carter Edwards
Alright user. Then how about we talk about why AC1 is so comfy?
I think it's because of the shitton of money you make and the sort of one man operation feel the whole thing has. And also the bright colours
Sebastian Campbell
Nice, that's pretty damn helpful in getting how that works. Where's it from?
Michael Morales
I took it from the Macross Mecha Manual website. It's from This Is Animation Special Macross Plus, iirc.
Bentley Cruz
>YF 21 with a regular cockpit Damn

Really, atmosphere has always been a strength of the AC series, even in the old days.

Who would like to have prequel to Zero in which you play as Pixy? Buddy deserves to have his own game. Or another prequel in which you play as Silber 1 or Schwarze 1? They have quite the interesting backstories on top of being pretty cool.
Owen Allen
Maybe it would be more interesting to play as a previous wingman to Pixy rather than playing as him. We don't have much info on conflicts predating the Belkan War, so it'd be interesting.
Jason Nguyen
I liked Grimm going on about his brother. Kinda felt like it added something. I don't know
That idea for a Gelb game we cooked up a while ago was kinda neat
You would play for Belka as Gelb doing their flying circus/do everything routine, and then the last few missions you go up against an early version of the AWWNB plot before being called to Directus before you can finish them off Unfortunately I don't remember all the details but it had some minor AC5 conspiracy uncovering and all in there at the end
Luis Perez
I think Grimm is underrated to be honest.
Carson Jenkins
I like that he just kind of waltzes into the squadron during the invasion and then just stays with them with noone putting him back into training or anything
These always make me kinda sad. Fuck, I love these games so goddamn much.
Thomas Cook
You know you are playing a good game when you end up sad that it's over
The fake ending in 2 got me when I first played through it, and then it tosses more missions at you
Brayden Nguyen
Wait, you got the bad ending at first?
Juan Watson
I cooked it. Pretty much was >Flying as Gelb early Belkan War >half way through they're assigned to take down 'rogue' elements of the Belkan Military >is slowly revealed to be a terrorist group that gained funding through the Belkan government and was organized to continue fighting for Belka if they lost, only for them to stab the government in the back and begin the creation of something else >penultimate mission is intercepting a suspected elite squadron that's escorting a cargo plane filled with parts to restart the creation of a discontinued missle >upon arriving it's revealed to be the legendary Gault Team, who after an intense dog fight, are all neutralized by Gelb, with the members surviving by bailing out or fleeing the airspace, with Gelb suffering extreme damages from it >Before Gelb can intercept the cargo planes and the remnants of Gault, they're called back to Directus to halt an Allied Forces attack >Final mission is the inevitable failure by Gelb to take down Galm Team over Directus It's literally fanfiction tier, but it was mostly just an idea for a game when people was trying to think of one. I had another idea that explored the possibility that Gault Team were actually fighting through the Belkan War alongside Gelb and others and had the documents of their death falsified after Rald approached Kupchenko with the idea only for Rald to get backstabbed, but I didn't put much detail into it.
Josiah Cook
The one where you just bomb the headquarter. Then, after, it gave me the sub/missile mission and the last one with the mountain base.
I guess my question then is what you have to do to go directly to the good one?
I still really like that idea though. It'd be a fun spinoff
Jose Hall
You mean to finish the game on Kingpin? Play the game on Easy, IIRC.
Josiah Lopez
I'm pretty sure thats the bonus ending, in the bad ending the missile destroys the city if am not wrong
James Reed
I thought I was on normal when I did it. But is it supposed to do credits and then immediately continue you on the sub mission? Or maybe I'm misremembering how that all went down
Well yeah that one I saw a few times because fuck hitting that missile. But there is a credit sequence that you can get before
Camden Cooper
If you're above normal then it treats Kingpin like a normal mission, i.e. it goes to the debriefing and kill records, and then heads onto the next mission. Only on easy does it tread Kingpin like the final mission.
Aaron Wood
Weird. Maybe I had an easy playthrough at some point and then a regular one recently and mixed them up. I really thought it gave you some pseudo ending and then an emergency sortie just to make it feel urgent and all that
Anthony Harris
Nope. You either get the credits crawl right after Kingpin, or go straight on through to Last Resort.
Daniel Cruz
Do you think Yuktobania had an event similar to Chernobyl?
Alexander Cox
Probably a mixup then. Good game either way. I still wish I could play 3d though just to see what they did with it.
Jordan Jackson

Not bad, but the thought of playing as Kellerman from the 70s during the war with Recta until Mayhem seems far superior to me.
Carter Perez
That works too. Then again you could probably make fairly decent campaigns out of most of.the aces in Zero But Gelb also works out because we haven't seen the leaders face, so that would just tie into that faceless protag meme nicely
Gabriel Scott

My design compulsion has been quenched now that I have settled on a transformation gimmick, so here are the results. I'll do the design proper once I've finished the Yellow SV-51s.
Wasn't there someone who wanted a Gault MSZ-006?
Ethan Nguyen
The chest part in mecha mode looks like a hand puppet.

That's pretty amusing, the machine guns do indeed look like eyes and the plate underneath really sells it. Good catch.

Hey, y'all.
The thread is pretty dead so I hope you won't mind me asking again - I was posting in here with a couple questions about Ace Combat 3 emulation the other day. I tried the suggested older version of ePSXe, and had a brainwave that it might've been because I was running it all off an old flash drive so I moved the emulator etc. to the SSD my OS is on, but neither helped.
Still have functionally perfect gameplay emulation but the menus and briefings etc. run at like 20FPS and stutter heaps.
Can anyone shed light on what might be responsible for this? Or what setting I should be tweaking?
William Sanchez
Maybe is the rom? i'm not really an expert so i cant really help you that much but i downloaded one and had no issues on my laptop, i didn't use the one on the OP though and it has some parts untraslated (like the saving parts) and apparently it has some glitches but is this one https:// nicoblog.org /psx-iso/ace-combat-3-electrosphere-english-patched/
Adrian Ross
It took me a while to get the emulator booting anything correctly at all, so figured I should focus on getting the emulator stable before I even tried to fuck with the Japanese patched version. Got it running Ace Combat 2 perfectly, and like I said Ace Combat 3 works great in gameplay, its just the rest of it thats fucked. For now I'm just using the PAL release, the ISO for which I got from emuparadise. I should put my disc in and see if that runs any better. I'll try the links in the OP and the one you gave me when I get home tonight.

This picture sums up why I don't like AC5's story and dialogue and why I can't take them seriously.

I like the actual story well enough. I just don't like the wingmen.
