And isn't the reason as to why Chara comes into existence is because we, the player, force Chara onto Frisk by doing genocide runs? And also, by never playing Undertale again after going through a pacifist ending, the timeline doesn't reset and in theory, the monsters live happy?

Somewhat. He was trapped as a soulless flower, without the ability to feel anything positive. Combined with the ability to play god by travelling back in time and erasing any negative consequences of his actions, that led to a disastrous outcome.

Chara did exist as a normal human, but yeah, he comes back into existence as a demon if Frisk/the player does a Genocide run.
