I mean it'd definitely be workable, might make a nice spin on a new Gunner weapon. Only thing is we already have Bow for charged ranged attacks, so you'll have to make it distinct form that somehow.

Spear/Javelin and Shield

Well what monster isn't annoying in XX? Annoying and hp bloated monsters is the games whole gimmick to force you to use styles, hunter arts and online. Shit game design all around.

There aren't that many annoying monsters in XX, though. Deviants come to mind, but those aren't mandatory for anything, really. The only truly fucking annoying monsters I can think of are Agnaktor, Lagiacrus, and Uragaan, and only one of those was reworked for X/XX.

I just want to hunt, but I'll save replaying the older games for the eventual death of the series.

All we know about World is that they've revealed very few returning monsters, a handful of brand new monsters, there are 12 maps, there are major weapon changes, armor skills and BM/Gunner armor has been overhauled, and there's an in-game wiki. There's other stuff, but that's the most notable.

We don't know anything about the progression or endgame, so we can't compare it to 4U.

It means you need to be kicked from any end game hunt unless you're using Atlal weapons.

Despite their huge raw, massive purple, and slots, Atlal weapons are only marginally better than other options. This is due to the Purple Sharpness nerf in XX.

For example, the Shredclaw LS, sitting at the same raw, positive affinity, has virtually infinite White without the need for Sharpness +2, freeing up your skills to use something like Crit Boost, Weakness Exploit, Challenger+2, and CE+3 to bring you to 100% affinity on an enraged weak spot.

In the majority of cases, a 100% Affinity, crit boosted Shredclaw LS will out damage an Atlal Ka LS with comparable skills.

Only an idiot believes that mantis weapons are the best regardless of what type of weapon your using.

G Rank Seregios is the worst in XX. You need aerial and paralysis weapons to hunt it properly. Not even Apex Seregios was so swoopy and annoying to hunt.

To an extent yes, but Steve was easier to trip over in that game. In Gen it got some more lenient hitzones in general though.
