What's the go with pets? I never see them in the market, are there quests to get them? Don't want to spend sheekels just want little critters picking up drops

Quite a bit. They repackaged the way the game reads some of the game files which has resulted in horrible bugs and glitches all week long. It did cut down the total install size, somehow, by a couple gigabytes, but it's clear that they didn't test any of this shit very thoroughly. This game might as well still be in a beta stage after all this.

Free ones you get are from attendance like twice a year and from playing 5000 hours on a single character. Don't get your hopes up on winning one from market. Just goy it up.

What's the point of T4 pets? They're so expensive to make and T3s can do the same if you stand around few seconds longer.

You just described the game. This is the grind never ends and frustration central. Look into horse training early and breed yourself a quality horse. Otherwise it's gonna take forever to get around.
