I saw Whitekidney at a grocery store in London yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

The servers will always start with a boost in progression. Most of us will always be min-maxers that expect people to have watched a youtube video on the dungeons and shit.

Be honest lads, if Blizzard released legacy servers how badly would the retail babies cry when all of us take over all the item markets and pvp brackets?

The best way would be is to cure the sickness the game had since wotlk, a completely fresh start, but since blizzard adds more to it than improves its highly unlikely. Every time they make 1 step into the right direction they take 3 steps backwards.
Also don't forget that a legacy server would be a big as fuck apology that "yeah we fucked up big time", but they'll never admit it. Ever.

by actual patch progression, do you mean replicating the same bugs that later patches fixed? i think that would be fun but it would be more complicated than I think we realize.
Some talents and spells would function wildly differently depending on the patch, not to mention gear changes (but we're more used to something like that).
Some specs would be nearly worthless until 1.12, even more worthless than they are already, I mean. And many classes had some big issues before their talent trees got re-worked.
But it gets more complicated still, as if you decide to not include spells/talents in "patch progression", the new power levels make some content pretty face-roll - we see some examples of that on private servers. A lot of it can be mitigated through nerfing gear but some of it is just due to the characters being more powerful than intended.

I also disagree about transmog but don't care a lot. I like some gear being iconic and identifying what class or what the player has done with a glance.

FYI - Blizzard is announcing legacy servers at Blizzcon this year. They have been slowly building a team since last summer. Obviously they couldn't put anything tangible together by last year and with Legion being the main focus of their WoW presentation, there was no reason to distract from that.

They will announce the next expansion, which will be Kul'Tiras/Azshara/N'Zoth. This expansion will not be slated for release until summer 2018.

To fill up the content gap and maintain interest in their IP they will be releasing the first legacy servers. They will be based on region. The current plan is to open at least two at a time and adding more based on the hype. This will allow them to merge the servers in case the population does dwindle, as they will be on the same patch. Yes, patch. They plan to go by the patch release schedule to provide the same experience one would have had starting November 23rd, 2004.

The release schedule has been slightly accelerated, lasting up to 16 months. This will segue into the TBC legacy servers. They are not planned to be released at the same time as the Vanilla legacy servers but will likely be released before the Vanilla legacy servers hit the end of their content cycle. The Vanilla legacy servers will be play through expansion (PTE) with the ability to keep your characters on Vanilla, if you should so choose to. There is no information on Wrath but I'm confident it will follow, depending on the popularity of the other legacy servers.

As for guild structure, There will be a King (Me), I'll appoint several Thanes, they will function the same as officers, and they'll rule in my absence.
