They both have a AoE damaging move and a AoE debuff. They also both have a mostly useless skill that no one uses (mag's 4 and nova's 2). That's enough to be in the same weight class in my book.

I would simply say not the Steel Meridian/Red Veil. The way the Enemy and Opposed factions works, it makes it much more difficult to pick up a third syndicate later on. PLUS you get fucked out of the Large Team Energy restore blueprint that any other pair enjoys, really shitty.

Unless a weapon is used as a crafting component for another weapon you should sell the non prime version when you get the prime up to par to save on inventory slots (get the base weapon to rank 30 first obviously)
