From what it seems like, Forces has had more interest in it over there than a lot of other recent Sonic games, so that's probably why. Not to mention, timed demos are more common over there, IIRC.

The Moon Rings and numbered rings are only for cosmetics. Super Sonic is in the update so that means he was a last minute rush in.

That also means we'll get a Lost World scenario again with two mouths, he'll be easy to maintain by the 1,000s of rings in each level, and if he gets the Generations boost, each stage will be finished in 30 seconds.

I feel like Silver even getting a cutscene against Infinite at all was pretty great. I expected literally everyone to just be stuck in "YOU GOT THIS ROOKIE" mode but Silver shows up and actually attempts something.

Silver is definitely very OP as a character. It's unfortunate they never got a chance to do much with him because he had the misfortune of debuting in 06.
He did still get to fight Infinite though. Being a male hedgehog has it's perks.
