The original human paladins were either noble knights trained in the way of the light or existing priests trained in martial combat. A paladin is literally just a priest who can fight like a warrior.

It was an expansion announcement my man, everything they've told us about is almost all preliminary. Only thing concrete is the continents and zones they've already built. Everything else is still up in the air and subject to change. This happens every expansion announcement, half of the things they talk about get scrapped or changed. Class and spec changes are usually towards the end of the list when it comes to things they need to finish so no way they would talk about them now.

Also most specs just got completely remade essentially, so i doubt any super drastic changes will happen, mostly just mechanic changes to some abilities, talents changed, maybe a new talent tier to pick from.

The only changes they are doing is baking artifact stuff in the talent tree.

Honestly at this point of the expansion is not worth it, you will have to grind bgs for months to hit the cap. Wait for the next expansion or just grind for the artifact skins they will probably remove that.

Player classes are a game mechanic and not an element in the world. Someone could theoretically study magic but not be a full-on "mage" the same way that in the real world someone can "multiclass" as a mechanic and a writer.

Paladins, in game lore, are a specific order that one joins and it's a title to hold. Anduin is not part of that order and has always studied the light the way a priest would. He's also a king and wears traditional full king armor when on the front lines and carries his father's sword, but if you'll notice he didn't just command justice to rein and smite his enemies like a paladin would wave a hammer, instead he put the toy down and did his priest prayer to inspire his people in the way he knows how to.
