Well considering how lacking the background lore of most characters are, you can excuse people for filling in the gaps with headcanon sometimes. Like Zyra for example, there isn't much actual canon on her other than she's some random mage's corpse that got infested by a sentient plant. If you're a Zyrafag there's only so much you can do with that before you have to headcanon it a bit.
