Happy 100th Red October

The following day, with the German invasion accelerating and British forces in Cornwall already in danger of being pocketed, Montgomery declares martial law throughout the nation, passes legislation authorizing the organization of partisan bands, and passes a "temporary measure permitting the acquisition of any and all necessary resources by the army." It is, in other words, a bald acknowledgement that the British Army will do anything it needs to--take anything it needs to--in order to hold the Germans off for even a while longer.

It is a brave move, but eminently foolish. By authorizing partisan formations, Montgomery opens the British people up to the same horrific summary executions of Soviets which were so common during Barbarossa, and for nothing--as von Kluge said shortly after hearing of the measure, "there are no circumstances in which these isles can now be defended; why provoke our ire?"

But provoke it he has, and the Fuhrer, though reluctantly, issues the same orders that were given out in Russia: all political agents and partisan forces are to be executed on sight. Britain will be taken with blood if the army will not stand down.

That fucking eternal anglo in the last thread trying to say that language = culture when his nation literally stole dutch speaking colonies

>tfw you will never live in this perfect world

great job removing HPM from the OP in favor of mods like that lads

that rootless mongrel who is still mad about the objective fact that Ireland isn't a real nation

Eh... what happened with HPM, btw?

I love your AAR

Show taken loses land tab please

He's in the infopic

England has been driven from France, and for your guys information the Burgundian war was the 3rd consecutive war, and thats really the only excuse I have for myself for losing to them. I managed to white peace out after though.

he got banned for being a shitposter

Remind me when I finish off today and I will, I have a save from right when I end the AAR I think. I wrote this part ahead-of-time since all the events were so close together.

...

assuming that england was the first war, who was the second war with?
i can't think of anyone strong enough to drain your military

we need less commies on /pol/ not more

La Plata

Then what's that unHPM thing there?

everyone gets banned sooner or later, same with the guy who made Vickymod and others.

On the 4th of August, Lt. General von Kortzfleisch closes the pocket in Cornwall, successfully destroying one of Britain's precious few tank corps and securing the major naval base at Plymouth. All-told, inflicted casualties number at about one-fourth the entire remaining size of the Home Army, and with Portsmouth secured no reinforcements can be sent in from the colonies in the south. Reinforcements can only come from the north, where German troop concentrations are at their strongest.

And strong they are; despite Montgomery's desperate defense, his decrees have done almost nothing to slow the rapid pace of the British defense. Even without panzer corps--they were deemed too heavy and too dangerous to risk transport--the Wehrmacht in Britain are moving rapidly and efficiently through the country, pacifying towns and routing resistance as the consummate professionals they have now become. OKH now estimates the entire island will be occupied by the end of the month, and civilian targets and Jews in the isles are already in the process of being rounded up by advance-guard SS forces sent over in the first waves of the invasion.

yeehaw

4/pol/ is a containment board you don't need less of anything you need more of everything

Pan Turkism when???

containment boards don't exist

unHPM

>containment boards don't exist
>/mlp/

/pol/ certainly does exist, click below for more information!

And what's the difference?

Probably the only one that kind of work. /pol/ became a tumor that infected nearly all boards, except those where no one ever posts.

I went to war with Aragorn and Naples because they weren't allied to anyone and took pic related. I had to end it quick because the Maine event fired while I was still at war. Then before the english war even finished I was called into the war with Burgundy vs Provenance, so I had barely any manpower left at that point.

>Probably the only one that kind of work. /pol/ became a tumor that infected nearly all boards, except those where no one ever posts.
Eh, I don't know if I blame /pol/ for that, I think it's more of a symptom than a cause. The politicization of previously non-political sectors of life isn't just something happening on Veeky Forums or the internet, look at the whole NFL kneeling thing after all. I think it has to do with increased polarization between the left and right across the West. They're beginning to disagree on so much that there's not really anywhere left to go where they can get along without dragging their bullshit into it. The spread of /pol/ isn't just isolated to the fascists, the commies are a real problem across the site too.

unHPM was a guy who was in the discord server, he was an autistic croat pretending to be german.

He was eventually ban.

The more you know.

>Mod-maker for grand-strategy games is an autistic wehraboo
Who could of thunk it?

One week on, and all of England save Northumbria (and a small pocket in Wales) is under German control. The economy of the Isles has ground to a halt as thousands of soon-to-be refugees crowd the docks of Glasgow in a desperate rush to flee to America or the colonies, and virtually all military order has collapsed alongside it. Montgomery, captured in Wales, has already been executed for his part in ordering partisan activity; without him there is no overall commander of the Isles's defense, and each division is now operating independently. This leads to effective chaos, and few divisions are even at operational strength to resist the constant German push north.

Haven't done a proper big megacampaign in a long time, been considering it, but unsure as to how/what I should try to accomplish, other than making Luxembourg great again

Any suggestions?

A Pan Turkic state

k lads

Rugged Scotland is much more difficult to move through, but in late August, Glasgow falls to the German advance. The city is still packed with those who had hoped to seek refuge abroad, and their convenient centralization allows the SS forces moving along with the Wehrmacht's advance to round up all the asylum-seekers and place them in concentration camps nearby, to be vetted. More than half will be discovered as political enemies, Jews or other undesirables which will be purged in the coming months.

The real opportunity of the fall of Glasgow is its port, however, or at least so the Reich Admiralty believes. An operation for its use is already in the planning stages.

Never take any additional territory in Europe. If Eu4, turn luxembourg into a terrifyingly well developed fortress.

In hoi4, capitulate all major powers.

this but unironically

When Glasgow was captured, the Abwehr reported to the Reich Admiralty and OKH that there was a group of British officials and resistance fighters which had not fled to Canada, but to North Ireland. These officials were rumored to be in charge of an operation to fund resistance in Albion, and orders quickly came to capture North Ireland to remove the threat.

A flurry of diplomatic communication with Ireland saw them sympathetic but unwilling to invade, given their uncertainty about the number of British forces there. Thus, it was instead decided to task Admirals Carls and Raeder to launch a naval invasion. The Reich Admiralty, using documents recovered by the Abwehr in London, was of the opinion that the Home Fleet had left station to escort the last refugees fleeing Glasgow to Canada, and the operation would be safe.

This was a fatal mistake.

Without moving the Luftwaffe closer to the operation zone or running interceptor screens, the order was given for Raeder and Carls to move. When they arrived at Glasgow harbor, they were suddenly set upon by CAGs and bombed in the harbor, forcing them to sally out or be sunk in port.

In a heroic defense, with the Luftwaffe supporting as best it could, Admiral Raeder bravely attempts to face the British once again while Carls makes his escape. In a stunning defeat, however, Raeder again cannot find Britain's carriers to fire upon them at all, and as his vessels attempt to flee his battleships are picked off one-by-one; by the conclusion of the fighting, every single element of the Reich's new, modern fleet is either totally sunk or barely holding together, including the total loss of all battleships. The drowning Admiral is lucky to escape with his life, having been saved by a fleeing destroyer passing near his sunken flagship's wreckage.

The defeat is so catastrophic that Goebbels immediately censors all mention of the operation. It will go down as the Reich's greatest naval defeat.

please stop fucking posting

contribute something to the thread, like RussiaAnon in the last thread, or stop bitching

I remember that guy, but wasn't that just a regular vicky2 play through?

Also, don't want to be too much of a copycat, would prefer something a bit different

That, and spending about half the megacampaign as an OPM doesn't sound that interesting to me to begin with

How about a stable Al-Andalus with modern day Spain + Portugal borders?

...

I am, but they're finished a year later. I was hoping battleships would be enough since I specialized them for firing range, but it clearly wasn't enough.

Why is playing Manchu so much fun? What do I have to do to Cuck Ming? They seem to have buffed them considerably

>eu4

When the broken remnants of Raeder's fleet finally arrive in Manchester the Admiral is taken into custody to be tried for incompetence; the rest of the destroyers, perceived to be too slow for modern naval combat and thus a liability to operations, are all tasked to convoy defense. The existence of the current battleship navy is hushed up throughout the Reich, as the Fuhrer gives his verbal approval to construct ten "super-heavy" battleship variants--much larger, more powerful, and more modern than the battleships just lost--running under the names of the ten which had just been sunk. It is the Party's hope that, by late 1947, the new super-heavy variants can "return from patrolling in Asia" and take the place of the old, secretly-sunk vessels; none but those in the Admiralty should ever be the wiser.

Even with this defeat, however, there is incredible pressure in the OKH to capture North Ireland, especially since Belfast is now rightly perceived as a base for the Home Fleet; indeed, it was from Belfast that the Home Fleet struck and sunk Raeder's forces. Thus, with more constant Luftwaffe support, despite Raeder's failure, Admiral Carls is given orders to attempt the landing anyway, despite being totally without naval support.

General Hausser is selected to command the landing, and faces off against entrenched motorized divisions with heavy artillery support. With the naval fire support of Admiral Raeder's battleships it might be that Hausser could secure the beaches, but unless the Home Fleet fails to contest the landings whatsoever, it is likely that Carls's attempt, too, will fail--with potentially disastrous results for Hausser and his men.

cucked again

What the fuck do I have to do to appease these cunts?

Are we being raided?

more imperial authority

...

Predictably, Carls's attempt does fail, and spectacularly so. Engaged in the Irish Sea just hours after beginning his landing, Carls is soon forced to recall Hausser's divisions, even with more significant Luftwaffe support than was available to Raeder. To his absolute credit Carls is able to recall all Hausser's forces and land them safely back in Glasgow, but thousands of his men and dozens of his ships pay the ultimate price in recompense; between the initial engagement and flight and then the long, winding attempt to flee back to Germany from around Scotland, Carls loses over 90 transport ships and tens of thousands of sailors. It is another crushing defeat for Germany, for now she lacks even the resources to transport troops off of Albion, but, unlike battleships, transports are at least cheap; the new Secretary of the Navy, Alfred Saalwachter, estimates that Germany will have recovered her transport capacity by December.

As for what will be done about Belfast, however, none in the Reich now know. Eventually the Fuhrer is persuaded by Saalwachter to temporarily cordon off Belfast and subject it to Luftwaffe bombings, but not to try landings in the region any longer; without carriers, it is evident that the Reich cannot challenge the Home Fleet, and thus cannot effect a landing. Securing Belfast will either need to wait until mid-1946, or will need to be accomplished through an alternate approach.

>implying vickylads are in conflict with ck2 players
is this the absolute state of reddit?

You speak English, you eat fish and chips, you drink tea, so how are you Irish? I could accept it if you had a seperate culture, for the same reason Sierra Leone isn't English despite speaking the language, but you have no practical difference to the rest of the British isles.
>inb4 religion
Less than a third visit church regularly, it's entirely secularised, this isn't an argument.
>inb4 famine
Scotland was famined, the North and Wales had their entire way of life stopped, pretty much all of the British isles have been fucked over, you're not special.
>inb4 we want to be independent
The IRA did not enjoy popular support at any point in history. It peaked when the traitors of '16 were rightfully executed, but even then it wasn't very high. You even fought a civil war to remain a British dominion, because at the end of the day the IRA were a bunch of upstart german funded insurgents who were universally despised by everyone but muh heritage Americans

Everyone agrees EU4 is shit, so eu4 babbies try to pretend Cuck kangs are on their side.

Real men play vicky revolutions

Have you research nuclear technology at all? You could always just nuke Belfast.

It's a shame we can't just do that in real life.

I have, yes, but the reactors are still under construction, and my nuclear capability isn't even semi-fission yet. If I did nuke it it wouldn't solve the issue, either, because they could still use the port even if it was at much-reduced efficiency.

Has Arumba killed himself yet?

It would destroy the ships in port I'm pretty sure. And if it didn't, it would at least destroy any AA in the province allowing your bombers to freely bomb the British in port.

To the chagrin of the Reich Admiralty, it was very shortly learned that the assault on Belfast had been pointless, at least as anything more than a diversion.

When London had been captured, one of the first goals of the advancing Wehrmacht had been to secure Oswald Mosley, the basis of what the Fuhrer hoped would be Britain's new government. The chances of finding him in the city were initially thought to be low, as OKH expected that the British--who had over a week to prepare the city's evacuation--would have pulled Mosley away as a political prisoner. To their surprise, British soldiers surrendering to the Germans on August 1st turned Mosley over; they were defectors who believed that Mosley was their ticket to good treatment, and they were correct.

Mosley, now free, formed a provisional government in London by the 7th of August. He would receive his new Head of State not long thereafter.

The Duke of Windsor--that is, the old Edward VIII--had taken a trip to the Caribbean not long before Germany's invasion of Britain, in what later would be recognized as a move suggested to him by Abwehr agents. When he arrived in Jamaica he quickly took an unscheduled trip to Cuba, and from there boarded a liner destined for Ireland.

Although the captain of the boat had wanted to turn back upon hearing of the invasion, Edward bribed him to continue, arriving at Cork on August 11th. Under cover of the Battle of the Irish Sea, he set out from Dublin on a German Arado AR-232 plane, landing in London with his wife on the 27th. After meeting with Mosley and other officials for several days, he publicly announced his presence in Britain on September 1st, when he proclaimed himself Edward VIII once more, announced that his brother's usurpation of the throne was illegal and he remained the rightful ruler of England, appointed Oswald Mosley Prime Minister of "the new Britain," and called on all British forces to stand down.

Chaos followed.

The discord illuminati is after us.

Did you really get Mosley-Eddie8 godduo or are you meming?

What's your job? You'd make a perfect copywriter and grab a lot of bucks with that kind of skill, you know.

>who were universally despised by everyone but muh heritage Americans
Is it true that nigs from Boston pretending to be Irish had to go and bomb for independence for the Irish?

I love your writing, mate. Thank you for providing a good read.

It might have, but they still have Scapa Flow, and it's not perfectly clear that they had been based there, it's just my assumption. Either way, for now I still lack nukes entirely, so I can't do anything even if I wanted to.

You'll see.

I'm content with my work, but thanks for the praise. I did want to do creative writing when I was younger, but I use it in a professional capacity already.

Thanks user. We've still got a little bit to go.

Post games you're playing right now. I'm at work and would rather play game than listen to my coworkers slander their ex boyfriends, but my computer is surprisingly shit for IT work.

Remind me, are you using sub-optimal templates or strategy? What differentiates this from a bog standard New World order Nazi Germany run?

Had Oswald Mosley called for a surrender alone, the British people never would have obeyed. No army man would have obeyed a German-installed goon over the rightful ruler of Britain, George VI, and his duly elected government. Calling on Edward VIII to be present to support Mosley was genius of the Abwehr, and it changed the situation entirely. In a stroke, Edward VIII not only extended the possibility of peace to the weary British people, already certain of ultimate defeat, but did so by framing their defeat as the defeat of a usurper: George VI and the crony political establishment of old Britain, which had deposed their rightful ruler and raised up a pretender. They had lost, yes, but it was through no fault of their own; it was through the fault of the political elite which had forced Britain into the war, of George the Tyrant, overthrowing the benevolent Edward VIII, who merely wanted what was best for his people. By formally appointing Mosley he even went above and beyond in legitimizing the call for peace: Mosley was no longer the German choice, but the choice of England's rightful monarch.

The call for surrender thus rocked the British people, and especially the military. For a German stooge they would not surrender, but for their own King? For the promise of peace with honor, a defeat which could be blamed on George VI?

Tens of thousands throw down their arms, and those loyalists who refuse to "obey the will of our right King," as one infantryman put it, faced flight or the point of a bayonet. Ships on the coast which had previously been defending against German forces soon enlisted the help of German marines and planes as mutinies spread like wildfire across the navy, and those ships which refuse to go over to Edward are fired upon and sunk. By the 5th, it can be said to be over: the British Isles have by-and-large accepted Edward as their rightful ruler. Reconstruction will take years, but the war in Europe is over.

I just finished a Russia run in HPM, would recommend. Before that I did an edgy nazi africa run.

>BUF Party Flag as the National Flag of the United Kingdom
>with Edward VIII as HoS

naw

Yeah, this was a test run to see if having every infantry division equipped with a medium tank brigade for support was a viable strategy: less divisions on the line, but more firepower for each division. I initially thought it would lose out to the Soviets, and I think a year later it would have, but in '41 it worked. I wouldn't call it sub-par, but it was a sort of mechanics test.

Incidentally, it was at this point in the game, not before, that the strategy broke down; my upgrade costs at this point are approaching 1500 IC, and it'd take me years to refit everything to be modern.

>7 princes for the reform

So what's the deal with unHPM? Is it just somebody taking HPM and fixing the fuckups? Is it playable or even better than HPM?

Although its crap right now, HOI4 has abandoned a lot of the legacy features that made lategame HOI3/2 unplayable such as unaffordable upgrade costs and spiraling unit costs based on tech.

In a couple years, HOI4 will be terrific.

In Kaissereich (HOI4), I did a version of what you proposed, with 1 heavy tank brigade per inf division. Worked until I hit opponents who fielded solid armor divisions.

Anyone know why I'm not getting an event to inherit the UBD? They're German as their primary culture.

Working on a Germany game starting as Austria. Making it my goal to prevent Italian Unification by puppeting the minor Italian states.

Did a Russian game myself. lemme see if I've got a screenshot.

AFPG, are you here?

There's an exception for them, Banat and colonial German primary nations specifically so that AI Germany wouldn't annex UBD.

Current version HPM you don't get an event to inherit, which is plausible given Mittleeuropa was going to be a network of buffer puppets not generalplan ost.

Good grossgermaniums border. Now just puppet the low country, and seize a good chunk of Africa (white highlands of Kenya, or south africa, or rhodesia, etc.

He should use the royal standard, with the Irish harp replaced by a flash and circle, the symbol of HM's government.

Annex Crimea, puppet/Sphere the rest of Ukraine and Belarus. Bonus points if you create israel or save Armenians in turkey

Do I need to trigger a revolution to go commie or fascist in Vicky? I've never really tried to and never had their parties get too much steam.

No, realistically speaking they'd still be using the Union Jack without any changes.

>no Wales

What mod do I play instead of HPM since the latest version is trash?

>AI Germany wouldn't annex UBD.
Why not? They planned to annex it in real life.

Also is Russia hard in victoria? Only major power I've never played. Are there serfs in vanilla or is that just HPM?

HPM 0.3.8

Source? Genuinely intrested.

lmao no

Latest version is fine. Just mod the genocide events like I did if you're unhappy with them. What else are you unhappy with?

After a lengthy period of settlement, not immediately. In Kaissereich germany doesn't annex UBD until ~1940 at the earliest.

I don't get why you don't just modify the genocide event.

True, but they need to differenciate it from the "old order" Georgist flag. Plus it needs to look like an absolute monarchy fkag rather than a cuckstitutional.
lmao-baka

Here we go. Made it my goal to prevent the formation of Germany and liberate the Balkan states. I also realize it was Vanilla. So it is what it is.

Weird. Cause you'll notice that I've annexed Banat in that same screenshot. Then again, I'm using an older version.

I don't see a particular reason to annex Crimea. Aren't those goths basically just assimilated by the locals at this point?

Damn. Should I just changeowner it then? Cause that was the whole point of fully liberating it and adding Lithuania to it.
