Is the best way to play Forces just to go through each level and then shoot for S Ranks/Red Rings/Moon Rings afterwards, or should I do all those as I go along?

collect all the Red Rings in a stage and you unlock Number Rings from Lost World in it. get all the number rings and you get moon rings, which are timed once you grab the first one

Finish the game then start the S Ranking/Rings
First Red Rings then S Rank. the stages will be easier since you'll know the layout a bit better. do them one by one so they'll be fresh in your memory.

No they didn't. People liked Rush because the game was good, Blaze was not the factor for the game being popular.

Rouge is much more popular and widely liked than Blaze is. Blaze only got positive attention because Rush was well received, her character really isn't anything that special among the cast.
Wow, Classic in Forces is a bit more bearable using the D-pad. Got that Clear Stage 3 in 60 seconds pretty easily.

Yes that's English dialogue. Assuming your specs are good enough to run Forces, boot it up from Big Picture mode so cutscenes and QTEs aren't fucked, and unlock your fps in Forces' graphics settings

I like Rouge, but it's more than just porn. Her interactions with Omega & Shadow in the comics or in games like Heroes were always underrated imo & I still feel like her dynamic with Knuckles was something that should've existed for more than one game. The porn is a plus, but Rouge can be a pretty entertaining character in her own right.
It's the same in Generations, I always use the D-Pad for Classic.
Porn is a factor but she's a cool character that people like. Rouge and Shadow are both the most popular of any of the "new" characters.
When did I say she didn't have a fanbase? You said she's the thing people liked about Rush the best and she's the best received modern character when that isn't true.

For whatever reason I can't switch on the fly, I have to change the movement to exclusively D-pad for it to work. It's weird.

Fuck that helps put it into words. I was wondering what really bugged me about the Phantom Ruby here. They treated it like it needed a source of power, even though we have stuff like the Chaos Emeralds, these gems that already ARE a source of power.
Like, the source of the HBH's newfound power comes from the Phantom Ruby, as would Infinite's abilities. The Phantom Ruby itself, I thought was similar to the Chaos Emeralds. But while the Chaos Emeralds could alter time and space (with Chaos Control), the Phantom Ruby could alter reality itself (like seen with the HBH).
Until they decided no, it's just illusion powers.

Tail's initial explanation of him being transported from another dimension makes sense if you go by how the Ruby worked in Mania. But after explaining how it worked in Forces it doesn't seem to be able to do anything but create 'real' simulations.
