To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Doki Doki Literature Club. The plot is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Sartrean Existentialism most of the themes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Monika's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these themes, to realise that they’re not just scary- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Monika truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the meaning in Monika's existential catchphrase "Just Monika,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Portrait of Markov. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Monika's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

I mean, aside from the almost callous disregard for life and manipulative actions, you can look at it as being able to relate to the feeling of being completely alone. Think of the measures you might go to once desperation for that one thing that keeps you going potentially disappearing forever, and I think that most people will find they'll do a lot of fucked up things.

You also don't have to relate to someone's situation to like them, but that's unrelated.

I'm looking for feedback on a story I'm working on.
General outline:

>Player opens up DDLC after several months and to his surprise, Monika has made major changes to the game
>Monika asks the player to teach her how to love
>She knows what happened at the 3rd chapter wasn't actual love and would like to find out what love actually is (given she's a computer program, she doesn't know what IS love)
>She has created 3 copies of the world, one for each of the other heroines
>Monika wants the player to date each of the heroines and get them a happy ending, atoning for her sins
>There are two endings with Monika
>In the first route, the player goes into Monika's world and they and the other heroines live happily ever after.
>In the second route (the true route), Monika becomes real. However, since Monika is no longer a program, her world (and the three copies made for each of the heroines) will be destroyed as a result, taking away the happy endings the player created for them. The other heroines (who are each club president in each of their worlds) will try to get the player to stay with them.
The second route will have a happy ending.

I don't think I'm a good critic so I can't help with feedback, but you can bet I'll read it.
