Thanks bob

Nice pic.

New thread already up:

Please don't start spamming your shitposts again.

anyone looking for an artist?

Yeah, do you have any examples of your work?

no, i stopped looking for the artists after they all told me they don't like my engine and wished me good luck

Right here buddy

Hmm, I'll work on getting a portfolio up. Mind telling me a bit about your game?

Real thread:

It is a turn based tactical squad based game a la X-Com. With 3D graphics.

>trump /agdg/ logo
no

Whoa, sounds pretty cool. I have more experience with 2D but have done some modeling and textures. I know how this sounds, but just curious what engine you're using

kek. Saving this.

I don't mind using 2D sprites in a 3D world. I'm using Godot.

Hey wait, you're right
We've been fucking had, boys.

Don't worry it was an """accident""" that the shitposter OP left that in the OP. Just like those times when he put Pokemon porn in the OP.

>getting this asspained over an OP on Veeky Forums
Looking forward to you crying your eyes out here.

Oh, that's cool! Actually though, at this time, I'm just not really interested in working with Godot.

Really though, good luck

>caring this much about OPs
I just copy pasted the last long OP, the same kind of thing that triggers you so much.

You're so pathetic it's funny.

reminder to report and ignore shitposters

>!
Go back to whatever forum you came from, moron.

Are voxels the future of 3D gamedev?

I'm sorry, I'm just not interesting in working with you. If you don't mind, please stop responding to me. Thanks!

what possessed you to even check that crap? serious question

>announcing your report
Enjoy your ban.

But that isn't Infinite Detailâ„¢

Thanks man, no worries. Good luck with your future endeavors as well.

>stealing other peoples samefag posts
You are so stupid it's funny.

Like I said, I'm sorry that it won't work out, but if you don't mind please stop responding. I said I'm not interested. Again, good luck.

Non-shitposting thread with actual progress:

>Non-shitposting
>meme image in the op
yeah sure

>meme image
Forget what site you're on you fucking idiot?

i NEED a game idea RIGHT NOW

Why are you so obsessed with the OP that you're spamming this thread with it?
You're truly broken.

Sure thing. Do you have any idea of a genre or theme you'd want to make?

You lose.

Mods have decided! This is the real thread.

>real thread taken down

Persona mixed with Silent Hill.

Y/N?

rudimentary ability to spot patterns, something everyone who aspires to make game should have

Based mods putting a stop to these shitposters, thank you mods.

Implemented few animations. Should fix the foot slide someday.
Reposting because last thread was deleted.

I mean more like "who cares?". Its a lot easier to click the little arrow and select "rule violation"

endless runner. you're an amputee without any arms or legs in the civil war and you need to escape your camp while it's being overrun by the enemy. click to jump (hold to roll), but every time you land it damages you.

Spooky

What's the gameplay?

That's looking good user, nice model and animations.

there might be people who didn't notice it yet and would fall for a shit meme
this having said it's not gamedev and let's stop ruining a good thread

these death animations are very slow and videogamey

lewd jam starts 4 days and I still don't know what kind of game I'm making

I need ideas, nothing too fancy though

They look like they are anime-blushing
and die through nose bleed

1v1 top down RTS.

a VR game where you hang yourself. there are lewd anime posters on the bedroom wall

Pot calling the kettle black. You're the idiot that gets so triggered by them he needs to samefag on different IPs.

Yes, because they see one with more posts than the other. This is the result of you being a desperate idiot samefagging so much.

Nah that user is right. There is something seriously mentally wrong with you.

>people complain about mobile games being shit
>people refuse to spend even a dollar on a complete mobile game that has no in-app purchases or any other merchant tricks

I would make a good and fun mobile but why bother if nobody is going to buy it?

Ironic mental illness is still mental illness.

Great explanation! If I ever succeed with my 2D game, I'd like to explore 3D again.

What you need to do is make a PC version first then port it

if you want money and 0 piracy video games are not your field

Psst insane poster kun, I actually reported this thread before I figured the OP was actually a mess, you almost had me, but mods knew better.
Keep whining

>that user
Why are you referring to yourself in the third person, idiot?

Anyone ever tried porting a Windows UE4 game to Mac?
I know you need to use a Mac but is it pain free otherwise?

those aren't the same groups, people who are vocal about mobile games being shit are not the people who refuse to spend money on an actually good mobile game, assuming they haven't given up on the entire mobile market altogether after their realization

there are millions of housewives, grandmas and other similar kinds of people who actively support mobile market being shit it is
it's simply not salvageable because of the scale it grew to

Describing yourself pretty well there.

why so angry

But you're the insane idiot here? After all, you're the one who cares so much.

Do Godot android games run just as terrible as Unity android games?

Daily reminder that indie gamedev is not your ticket out of your parents' basement, it is not and will not be a sustainable career for you. Even barely "making it" is an outlier, where folks like Notch and Toby Fox are very, very extreme outliers.

You will not make it. That is a statistically safe statement. This is a
H O B B Y.

The most you can hope for is something roughly equivalent to minimum wage, but with no promise of any income for all of your work, no promise of continued sales if you ever have any, no benefits like health or retirement.
In the past ten years, thousands upon thousands of people have attempted to make games with the same dream you might have. Almost all of them failed. This is not something you get into because you think it'll get you money. It won't. It's a

no, the games I tested run pretty well

You're a lost cause buddy, here's your (you)

Do you assume everyone who correctly labels you an idiot is angry?

What's the best engine to use when making a RTS game?

I buy good mobile games. But it is very hard to find them. Usually I just buy the humble mobile bundle if it has a few good games in it.

One thing you could try is to have the game partially free. Like a couple levels or something. And then pay to unlock more levels.

Seconding this

I've pretty much given up on "free" mobile games, even 'subtle' adverts annoy me greatly and having the progression system ruined by microtransactions is ridiculous, the fact that any self-respecting developer would do either baffles me.
I'm still happy to buy games which don't have that shit though, the trouble is finding those games.

Coming from the moron who cares so much about OPs, I'll take that as a complement.

Also, can I use godot for it? Or is stuff like game maker/unity the only worthwhile engines to ever use?

Any engine will work. Especially if it has built in navigation stuff. Unity, Unreal and Godot are all good choices.

any engine with efficient pathfinding and UI tools should work fine, so any in the OP except GM

Who is our favorite developer from the agdg Discord?

You're competing with people who have real passion for what they're making and in many cases have very little limits on the time they're willing to spend on it.
There are hundreds to thousands of people that have a skillset similar to yours, similar amounts of time available, and are willing to make a game for FREE because it's something they love doing.
There is another thousands+ population that has comparable or better skills and time, and vastly more passion that DO want to make a commercial game.
Then there is a smaller group of truly talented game devs that have investors, free time out the wazoo, all the time they need to polish their craft, and the resources to hire staff to fill in any remaining gaps in their abilities, and you're still competing with these people. What makes you think you can compete?

>Like a couple levels or something. And then pay to unlock more levels.
Nintendo did that with Mario Run.
It got low ratings because they thought it was deceptive, as if the idea of paying for content is ludicrous (which it is to the mainstream mobile market it seems)

Gamemaker and Unity have more following, so you're pretty much guaranteed to have any question answered by googling it. Unreal is used more by AAA devs, but it's still popular in indies. Godot is a new comer compared to the other engines, but it's still capable of making an RTS.
Truth is, the decision is more down to your personal preference. All of those engines could make an RTS (except Gamemaker is shit at 3D, if that's what you're going for), So you gotta pick the engine you enjoy using the most.

You obviously care much more, otherwise you wouldn't be responding so furiously, but keep whining and whaling like a nodev you are. Pathetic my dude, you could've made a whole game for all the time you spent here baiting and trash posting, your behavior is a shame and disgrace, this is your last (you) from me.

Reminder that if you finished your game a few years ago you would have been become successful simply from having a game on Steam

But you were a nodev and now you have no chance

Monetizing your hobby can be a fun aspect of the hobby if you're a business minded person.

gamemaker in particular is not a good idea for a real time strategy, it's doable but making complex ui in it is hell on earth and you will be dealing with some performance issues without really good planning

Man, humans really are addicted to gambling? Paying one time to unlock everything is viewed as bad vs paying several times in the hopes of unlocking something is viewed as rewarding.

I am gonna make it. We all gonna make it.

Inconsistent rewards are the most powerfully addictive. There was an interesting Radiolab episode about this

UE4 has had a bunch of "RTS" features and optimisations added in the process of them making Paragon that you will likely find useful.
I think there was also some official tutorial series covering a lot of that MOBA type stuff.

Normies are honestly just disgusting creatures.

Look at how salty you are, you can't stop.

I've barely even read a single one of your posts and even then you're getting this assblasted. Hilarious.

Lootboxes are an entirely different thing, the mobile market just values games incredibly low because mobile games are predominantly for pooping entertainment.

What if I make a really good RPG and get hired by my favourite Japanese game company though?

>mobile games are predominantly for pooping entertainment
Yeah that's understandable. I pretty much only play mobile games that are very quick, or are turn based, making them easy to pop in and out of. Since I only play rarely throughout the day.

Some minor progress. Just testing different brightness setting for sidebars, I plan to also make an alternate hud that's only shown on the game screen instead of sidebars, since some people prefer it that way.
Oh also the current hud has been revamped a bit.
