-Trinity Soul- is a "purer" Persona game because it's based a lot more on the franchise's SMT routes. The story is much more an SMT spinoff than a Persona spinoff. While the animation is lacking, it was good for it's time and you'll like how much more on-model the characters are than P4.

I beat P5 when it released earlier this year, might start my NG+ playthrough soon. I'm gonna try to see how much I can forgive the linearity, pacing, and redundant text. I was so hyped when I first got the game, that stuff disappointed me. Either way I hope the next Atlus games address it.

You'll need to look up further settings to change in the config.yml, in addition to the settings that are listed as optimal. They're different for every kind of build, so you'll need to experiment with them until you find the best results.
