Every aspect of the JP version is enjoyable. Good Sugo rates, good skillups since a year, top-notch events with islands that just drop lots of free shit.

Does the xp in story mode ever get better?

I'm only at Drum and I can barely do 3 chapters before I have to hit up extra isle for some 15 stam 2x xp double rewards just to get a level up so I can do 2-3 more chapters. And lately the xp from extra isle isn't even enough to cover a whole level.
