Lawbringer is even more braindead than Centurion. I have Law at Rep 11 (he was my initial main) and Centurion at Rep 10, and all anyone does as Law now is the shove on block bullshit that makes him tedious to fight, like a kind of advanced Conqueror who gets more damage from his obnoxious bullshit.

Centurion is similar in that all you do is parry, guard break, wall splat and charged heavy, since none of your other moves are viable in the slightest and your lights deal no fucking damage.

The problem with Kensei is that he is fundamentally a bad character, so unless you give him new moves he'll ALWAYS be bad. A few number adjustments won't help.

Kensei is so shit that buffs aren't enough, like they said. Even though they said it in a nicer way. The entire character has to get trashed and renewed.

How many new players do we have anyway? I've been honorfagging it up with a friend in Brawls to give him some practice, but the matchmaking seems to keep throwing a minimum of rep ~5 enemies at us.
In hindsight the problem with the "train a friend" program is probably that the new players will never be matched against other new players.

A few people have dropped in to bitch about how shitty the game is, and they're not wrong. The free weekends for For Honor have arguably done a lot of damage, since the servers fall apart for the hole world to see during them.

The situation is so shitty.
The game isn't even bad beside some hiccups with balances and some weird design choices, but the netcode and connectivity just fucking ruin everythings

I want this game to do well and succeed, but I know it bloody won't as long as we get booted out of one match in two, and that's assuming the matchmaking didn't said "nah fuck you" when you were searching for one

Always been curious, but holy fuck, this game looks and feels amazing.

You can still have fun, but don't buy the game for more than 20 bucks. Keep in mind all the people still playing are level 10,000,000 autismlords who can parry EVERYTHING you do with ease.

No, but keep in mind that you need to actually git gud before you can have fun, unless the matchmaking is in a good mood that day or unless you're on PS4.
On PC, most of the active playerbase is already gud, and will not go easy on you. I suggest trying to find a brawl buddy here or on reddit/discord.

No, the combat system isn't particulary deep, and I don't say that as a bad thing.
You can "easily" pick it up and get good in a reasonable amount of time, but you have to realize that nobody ever go easy on anyone, so I hope you can take a loss.

The most frustrating part will be the game performance and connectivity, and the occasional cheese master that's the level of legends.

Even shallow combat systems still require experience and proper muscle memory. Look at Dark Souls PvP (I know half of you cucks came from Souls, don't pretend otherwise), the gameplay is braindead but an experienced PvP player will utterly destroy someone who just has a general solid grasp of the core gameplay.
Granted, a lot of it comes down to cheese, but this is true for FH too.

I haven't yet decided on a platform yet, but was planning to go PC. Is ps4 the better choice then? Is the matchmaking/netcode bettter there? or just easier opponents?

Oh don't get me wrong, I didn't meant to imply that it's braindead, just that it's a simple system is all.
If anything I think that for a game like For Honor, its current combat system is the best it can have, as said it's simple, intuitive, not convoluted with some bizarre crap or gimmicks, allow for both one on one or teamfights, and yet also allow for great fights to happens.

The PS4 has a lower FPS, so it's harder to be consistently "good" at the game. This is a double edged sword, because on the one hand it means you can spam attacks and be a bit more consistently successful against turtles, on the other it means people will spam attacks at you and be successful. When the "eventual" (never?) combat system changes come around, PC may bet the ultimately better platform.

I just heard it was a buggy mess from a friend who played it, but it seems to have done well on Steam. The combat also looked pretty bad.

PS4- more alive playerbase, harder to learn things but do able. (Don’t listen to PC elitists, game is playable as is)
PC-struggling population but still good fun if you’re not a lonely austist or have anxiety talking to another human bean like /fhg/ does. Constant 60fps makes it look beautiful, easy to learn.
Overall I’d say get PC version(I play on PC and Xbox versions), if you have the right build for it

PS4 is good because it apparently got the most consistent playerbase, Xbone is (I don't know if it's true, it's just that what I heard) completely dead, and PC isn't doing too well either.

There are some other differences due to consoles being locked at 30FPS, making some tactics actually viable on console like actually being able to fucking attack whereas on PC that'll net you a top heavy in the head.

Just blocking. Chip damage has been increased to 18% damage on block. Not much but it’s something

Vanguards and Hybrids should take more chip damage than heavies and assassins should take the most chip damage
