because the soul situation hasn't changed, most of the monsters are still indoctrinated to wage war at any given moment, Asgore is for all intents and purposes a war criminal, Frisk would be seen as a traitor at best

monsters are incompatible, in both lifestyle and habits, and humanity would almost immediately turn to execute them to prevent any issues. they'll gladly take the gold and the CORE though, those are useful.

Humans clearly had their shit together during the war, and decided not to kill the monsters. They understood magic. They had wizards. Almost all of the ingredients for a seven-souled Asriel are available to humans, as far as we can tell.
If you're going to be all "realistic" about this, you should take that into account, and extrapolate from it. Give me a humanity that knows about the existential threats posed by magic, souls and determination, and has take countermeasures. Don't just insert real-life humanity and call it a day and praise yourself for seeing through the wish fullfillment. Don't be lazy.

Do you think human biologists just completely missed an essential organ, and couldn't accomplish what a small monster population did? It's possible, if you add enough extra specifications into the mix, but it's not automatically likely.
I don't think edgy realism is bad per se, and I think you could do good things with scenarios where humanity does try to exterminate monsters after they get to the surface, but "realistically, the monsters would get exterminated in every situation" is just lazy.

Realistically if the monsters came to the surface they would at first be apprehensive but then see the love of Frisk, the cute girl, to all her monster girlfriends and then realize that monsters and humans can coexist in harmony and everything is happy forever
